This was my first ever yoga class and studio I ever went to back, maybe around 2015ish! So this review is a long time coming. It helped me cultivate my practice, and for that, i will always be grateful. It's a great place for beginners to get a solid foundation to grow and learn. That's pretty important if you are interested in continuing to go deeper in your practice. But that's not always everyones goal. The prices have gone up since I last came here before the pandemic, but that's every studio. Grace, the owner, just opened this new location in the same shopping center as the previous location. I give Grace tons of credit for doing her very best to cultivate a real yoga community. There are always challenges, guest teachers, and theme classes going on to mix it up. There is a nice mix of slower flow and yin classes and more advanced classes like hot power flow. But the classes are not as frequent. It is likely intentional for business purposes. There are also some classes offered as both online and in person, which is a nice touch for those that either don't want to come face to face due to covid or can't make it in time for in person class. I just got a bundle of classes, so I'm coming back more frequently. It's far from where I actually live, so it may be short-lived. But it's nice to be back on my mat. Namaste. read more

Absolutely the BEST yoga studio. The instructors, staff, location, cost, parking, cleanliness, and how they pivoted during COVID is amazing. They have class for any level of yogi. I started with the "flow basics" classes that are slow, purposeful movement with lots of explanation. There were people in that class from age 20s to 80s. You do not have to have ANY experience to take that class and the instructors are great at explaining each pose and corrections you need to make. After some practice, I wanted more of a challenge and went to "flow" classes which move faster. Then I began practicing daily to sometimes twice a day during COVID and now love the power flow classes. The instructors are GREAT. Some move faster, some slower. Some instructors incorporate more advanced poses and some stick to the basics. You can try each one out and figure out who you feel most comfortable with and whose style best fits yours. My favorite instructors: Grace, because I like how her classes flow and she's great about explaining the small adjustments that I should be making in my form and practice. Rashad because of his gentle giant nature. He does simple and straight forward flow classes which are just my speed and style! Georgia because even though she can clearly do any yoga pose and is extremely flexible, she modifies her yoga practice to be accessible to anyone. And I love Jess, Lesley, Amy, Dominique, Jeffrey... really they are all great and each have their own style. I also love that the yoga instructors look like real people. They don't look like they all stepped out of a Lululemon commercial (a few do, but they can't help that they are super fit). They are real people, with real bodies, and aren't perfect. I love that I can identify with them. During COVID, the studio started online live classes every day and would also email a link to the FULL video of the class that you can replay as many times as you want for a week. WOW! This was a LIFESAVER. I was able to practice from the comfort and safety of my home as well as watch the video over and over. I was concerned that I wouldn't get my money's worth during COVID (I have the monthly unlimited package) but it has been the complete opposite! During the shut down of the studio and now reopening with smaller classes, I am able to practice from home, with my favorite instructors, conveniently and receive 1 week unlimited replays for every class I sign up for (even if I sleep through the class or it doesn't work for my schedule). I have made out like a bandit! The owner, Grace, is friendly, receptive to feedback and questions, and a fantastic yoga instructor! One of the things I love about this studio is the community. I came for the yoga, but I am committed to this studio because of the community, vibe and people. Everyone is so supportive. It is not a competitive environment at all, it's the opposite, everyone wants to help each other be healthy, strong, and the best yoga practitioner they can be. I have recommended this studio to everyone who will listen because yoga is low impact, increases strength and has huge mental health benefits. Parking: I didn't want to deal with trying to find a spot at a gym... well this yoga studio is in a lot that has 10 times the parking that is needed on any given day. Easy access to the feeder too. Ive gone a couple weeks at a time off and on this summer since I live here partly. I know it has kept my mindset and well-being drastically in check. I will first mention the workout. I stick to the hot power flow and hot pilates. You DO NOT need to run or go to the gym to get your tail kicked. Try holding a yoga pose. The burn is real. All instructors have their own methods and they are all extremely effective. I have been able to eat everything I want and haven't budged the scale..plus I look so toned. People often do their own modification, whether that be to go easier or harder. It is a very non-judgemental zone. I personally don't like to practice handstand type inversions so I just stay in plank. I never feel weird about doing my own thing that is right for my body. The hot pilates class could be described as a bootcamp on your mat. High energy and loud music. The room we are always in doesn't have mirrors, which I have always been accustomed to, and at first was a little thrown off because I like looking at my alignment and I felt it helped me balance better, but haven't thought about it at all ever since. It's probably better since I usually go in looking pretty rough and it is not something I want to stare at for an hour! :D This place is definitely a neighborhood community. You won't go in and expect silence and meditation before class. You most certainly can lay with your eyes closed. People are often catching up or laughing about things. Definitely friendships are formed here. I don't speak much and don't feel uncomfortable about that at all. People are also quiet on their mats. Also, at the end, there is clapping and talking. Not a bad thing at all, just an observation. Sometimes studios freak out if you make noise when leaving while people want to sit in meditation. The staff are just the sweetest people. This is the BEST YOGA studio in the Sugar Land/Ft. Bend area. I have been practicing at this studio for one year and am so thankful I did this for myself. The owner is present and genuinely cares about her clients and instructors. The schedule is GREAT! Lots of classes to choose from every day of the week. I always feel welcome and there is no judgement in class. The instructors are top notch, always bringing something new and different to the mat. Lots of motivating off the schedule things to do and community events. There is nothing negative here, I love it. I am an avid lifetime cyclist that took up yoga much too late in life. My best recommendation: start doing Yoga NOW! You will feel better, mind, body & soul!!! Nov. 2018 update: still practicing at Awakened and still loving it. I am so glad when I finally came out from my practice hiatus that I picked the right place AY Studio. There is a good mix of people of all ages with varying practice level, everyone does at their own pace and ability. It is not a competition and no judgment. People are friendly, always a welcoming smile. All instructors including the stand ins are excellent. There are varieties of classes, something for everyone. With limited time I have, I pick the moderate paced vinyasa on Tues, the vigorous vinyasa on Thurs, and finish off the week with 26/2 on Sat. read more

I love this place! I'd been without a yoga home for many years after moving far from the heights. I tried many places in the meantime and none of them worked for me. From the first week at Awakened, I knew that I was going to stick around. The staff is all so friendly, supportive, and communicative. The location is very convenient, too. I'm hooked. I'm currently taking the prenatal yoga workshop classes with Amy. I am completely new to yoga -- my first class was actually this past Tuesday and I loved it! Amy is instructive without being condescending or overly demanding. I feel like she lets you work at your own pace/level and adjusts you as needed. Just from that one class I've already felt a difference in my posture and it's already helping with my low back pain that I'm experiencing this third trimester. It's also just nice to be in a room with a bunch of pregnant ladies that know what you're going through. The studio itself is located in a super convenient spot (in the Berry Hill shopping strip) with free parking. It's very clean and well kept. Temperature was perfect in our prenatal yoga room. I started at Awakened Yoga after having a stroke in my mid 40's. Awakened Yoga has helped me gain strength and balance which has allowed me to do all the things I did pre-stroke. Awakened Yoga gets 5 stars for their genuine community involvement, creative class offerings and positive spirit. Here's the services I've used: Flow classes: I'm a beginner yogi but I could keep up with all the flow classes. The style of class varies with instructor and I needed yoga blocks for every class but I did it. I recommend a basic flow class if you're new. All of Camille's classes are solid and you leave feeling better and like you got a massage. Aerial Yoga: This is what I imagine it feels like to be a baby swaddled in silk blankets. I've taken a couple of the classes, it's amazing, I wish I could take more but #momlife and lawyering doesn't always leave time. Try this class it's different but you'll like it. Yin Yoga: I have ALOT of trouble quieting my mind so this class where you hold stretches for long periods of time is helpful. My mind still wanders but I'm getting more focused with each class I take. Massage Therapy: Y'all LORETTA will fix you. You can schedule massage appointments for Loretta at awakened yoga, her cards are at the front desk. She has loads of fancy massage training in NYC and LA. Loretta uses body cushions, exotic essential oils and her extensive knowledge on massage to keep me in good working order. read more

I am only able to drop into this yoga studio a few times a year when visiting family, but each time I do, the experience is so great that I'm compelled to share a review. The space has many studios and is super clean and inviting. Their Bikram classes are amazing (just don't post up near a sunny window!). Highly recommend the day-after-thanksgiving "Turkey Buster." It's 75 min and one of the hardest hot yoga classes I've taken. Plus, super cute clothes from Onzie and giant bottlea of cold SmartWater in their lobby area. read more

Such a generous and compassionate staff. I was temporarily living in Houston while I underwent medical treatments at MD Anderson. I came almost everyday for 3 weeks. Each class was exactly what I needed, a safe and kind place to practice my mind, body, and spirit therapy with such kind hearted folks. This place is amazing! If you are tired of the same ole 20 something poses at other places, this place is for you. With a variety of classes (hot power flow, hatha, vinyasa, SUP, yin, and forest just to name a few) to choose from, you will never get bored. I have been practicing yoga for a long time and this place has some awesome classes and dedicated instructors. They put real intention in adjustments during the class and i enjoy the analogies and metaphors they use to help you get deeper in your stretches and poses. Their new studio is pretty koo with mirrors, but it does get a little cramped sometimes because of the beams and when it gets crowded! I'm a long term member and I've tried studios all over the country due to business travel. This is my favorite. Familiarity yes, home town yes but it's the small things that matter. It's clean, friendly, non-judgmental and teachers are uniformly supportive. They always ask about first timers, anyone with questions or injuries and then begin. Love this place! Great friendly staff, different packages available and a wide variety of yoga practices to choose. I personally prefer the Hot Flow and the Restorative practices. One to get the heart rate going and the second to calm down from a busy day and reflect on the day/check in on my body. I just signed up last Sunday, went to 4 classes so far and the instructors are awesome! Nice and friendly people especially the staff, made me feel welcomed . It's nice that there's enough classes for all levels all day and all week long. I took my son with me to the Friday 10:45 class and we both got a good sweat and enjoyed the class! Trish is a very good instructor, she takes the time and pay attention to each student and she remembered I had sprained my knee and she reminded me to be careful with a certain pose, how thoughtful!! I've been doing yoga here for years I like how the teachers change up the classes to keep things interesting. For example Grace will start class and announce "today we are going to do the flying pigeon pose" and by the end of class we will. I also like that in the advanced classes you will work on advanced poses and not just more reps of the same old stuff.
