Goldie is amazing. I've been to several threading salons in the city that have done a really good job but I've never experienced someone who is quick but VERY thorough. I was brunching with my out of town bestie, when she informed me that she HAD to get her eyebrows threaded. I wasn't sure there were any beauty salons in Bushwick, but a quick hop on Yelp led me to Awesome Threading Salon. Well... how could we resist?! The name says it all! We meandered our way over and were met with a totally empty salon with one employee. I was feeling iffy, but the Yelp reviews were all positive, and the woman was very sweet. There was definitely a bit of a language barrier, but once we said threading, we were all set. She was SO fast and SO precise!! She had my friend hold her eyelids at some points to hold the skin tight. Afterwards, she rubbed some weird soothing gel on her brows for a good five minutes, which was nice. I don't pay much attention to my brows, so I probably won't be getting the threading, but I will definitely return for the waxing! read more

I came to do a henna tattoo for me and someone else and it was an okay job. Its my second day with my henna tattoo and it is starting to fade. I saw other reviews about this place and I saw nice henna tattoos that were done on other people by the business owner. But the business owner was on vacation, so hopefully for my next visit I get a henna tattoo that wouldn't fade away so quickly. At the beginning of my eyebrow threading when my threader was trimming with scissors, I felt her make a pretty big snip, then she actually dropped the scissors in my lap and acted all flustered. She wouldn't let me look to see the damage and said it was fine... Then later when she was doing the actual threading she said "you know one eye brow is naturally much thinner than the other" to play off her mistake. I left the salon with a noticeable chunk missing from my eyebrow and even a scratch on my lid from where she dropped the scissor. If she had fessed up and apologized would be one thing, but trying to get out of her mistake by pointing out a flaw in my natural brow? So not okay. read more

I have been coming here for eyebrow threading, but today I came in for a Brazilian wax using the organic wax. I must say that the atmosphere of the salon may throw you off (as one yelper mentioned the dirty floor in the small wax room) but the service is impeccable. My wax was quick, painless, and on point. The lady who did my brazilian barely spoke any English. She really hurt me on one side due to lack of technique (ive got brazilians done countless times and never got hurt). I was trying to tell her to do the other side first and then come back to the side SHE hurt. She couldn't even understand that. After reading the reviews, I took a chance and I am very happy that I did. My eyebrows were messed up by a different place, one arched and the other curved. I let my brows grow in and needed someone who kne what they were doing to get them back on the right track. Ruby was very kind and did a really nice job. Very disappointed. I visited yesterday this place after reading all the good reviews on Yelp. I told the lady to make a nice shape and she ended up removing all my hair. My hair does not grow as fast it used to so its going to take at least 6 more months to have it the way I had it. I do not recommend this place. read more

Worst Brazilian wax ever. I think the lady who performed this on me had never waxed before. Great job on the eye brows but waxes should not be performed by certain people at this location. When you go, make sure you ask if there is someone good there who can do a good job on your wax. I still have burn marks all over my area from all the skin that was peeled off. Never again! . I got my first Brazilian wax here today and I was initially nervous about the potential awkwardness but Ruby was very nice and made me feel completely comfortable, which says a lot. Their logo says they never double dip. I didn't have waxing done but one lady before me had waxing and GOLDIE used the same stick to get the wax. Then went to the next customer without washing her hands. Next she did threading, and again didn't wash her hands. Next was me. I had threading, I went home and tweezer what she missed. I went to Awesome Threading salon for eyebrow threading, eyelash extensions, and eyebrow tinting. It was my first time getting both eyelash extensions and eyebrow tinting. Honestly, I was a little nervous because I did both of them somewhat impulsively while waiting for my laundry, but the owner walked me through the services and explained everything I needed to know. She took her time and did not rush through any of the procedures, which some salons do. Awesome Threading Salon also offers tons of other services- all kinds of waxing, threading, eyebrow tinting, henna, facials.... basically everything I would ever go to a spa or salon for besides nails and a haircut. The price is really great- $6 for eyebrow threading, $35 for eyelash extensions , and $15 for eyebrow tinting. I will definitely go back here in 2 weeks when I need my touch up! read more
