I moved back to NYC in February and needed an eyebrow place in my new neighborhood. I found Monica's on Yelp and have been going ever since - the eyebrow threading and customer service are top tier. For $8 (which you really can't beat), I get a simple eyebrow threading. The whole appointment takes around 5 minutes and I've been happy with the result every time. As a man, sometimes beauty salons are a little unsure about what "style" to give me since 95% of the clientele is usually women, but Monica's always understands the "natural" look and gets it right every time. If I ask for a correction, they're happy to oblige. Plus, the employees always greet me and say thank you when I leave - which seems silly to point out, but is a rarity these days. I came in for a eyebrow threading clean up. I am very particular about my eyebrows and super specific. I specified every step of the way, from the length I want to maintain, to the thickness, to the distance, and at Monica's the hair technician followed my exact instructions, and provided the service I requested. I got a very nice eyebrow clean up for $6.00. I can not speak for other services. Their prices are very inexpensive which is wonderful, if you want to have multiple pampering/maintenance on your visit. The ladies are very sweet and knowledgeable, the salon is small but very clean and organized. She stopped every step of the way to ask if the length was ok, if what she was doing was ok. They also provide you with a punch card making your 9th visit free. Lastly, just always be specific with services any where you go from beauty parlor, to nail salons etc...I think they will do their best to accommodate your wishes. read more

Just went there today- they may be fine at threading but don't get anything else done. I got a FACIAL and the lady that did it was soo rough. The vibe was meh like she DID NOT care bruh. At the end THE FACE MASK WAS LITERALLY IN MY EYES...burning me- burning HORRIBLY, it looked like something outta a horror movie. Do not get eyelash extensions here. I have had them off and on for a year, decided to go here because it in the neighborhood. They are so uncomfortable and I think they used super glue. It looked ok, but they are obviously cheap and the girl was not properly trained. I have been using oil everyday in the shower to get rid of them. She attached them WAY to close to the base and I'm annoyed I spent 89 bux. They do have gorgeous eyebrows but don't get the EYELASH extensions ?! read more

I've been going to Shobha in Manhattan for years, but I was pressed for time and figured I would try something in my neighborhood. I'm super hesitant to do anything different when it comes to people touching my face, but I was very pleasantly surprised. My eyebrows look great - they even trimmed them with the little scissors which most places forget. My eyebrows are two different shapes which usually ends in disaster but she did an amazing job of getting it right. Even better, it cost me $6 - compared to my usual $20. My eyebrows were monstrous. I mean really really bad in all seriousness. The misalignment was clearly noticeable, and couple of my friends noted it. So instead of being the usual cheapo that I am who likes to tweeze her own at home, I decide to tread once more to the threading salon *note my last visit was last summer, lol. The woman did a fantastic job, I can't remember her name. But I was impressed nevertheless, and she did it way faster than my past experiences elsewhere. This is a new Facial and threading store in my hood. They have one of the best (THE BEST) facials. I usually get the most affordable one $35.00 with free eyebrow threading Monday-Thursday. Besides having a nice clean face, the herbal cream that she uses smells deliciously mmmm good. After the facial, my face skin stays with that lovely scent for the whole day till the next day. I've been doing my own eyebrows for some time now and can't remember the last time I went to get my eyebrows done and I found this place on Yelp because it's next to my favorite nail salon and they totally botched my eyebrows . I asked for a natural tint on my poorly threaded eyebrows done by someone else who worked there and the tint color is a greenish-brown and it was completely uneven to the point where I couldn't stop rubbing my eyebrows hoping the tint would come off . Never again in my life . I was looking forward to this experience , not anymore . Now I have 1 round eyebrow and one square eyebrow for the next 2-3 weeks . read more

There is nothing worse than over plucked, over shaped eyebrows. As someone with eyebrows that are on the thick side, with areas that are sparse, I always have an issue with threading salons plucking out way too much hair. The natural clean look is much more my style. This small threading salon does a great job at maintaining your brows natural shape while cleaning them up a bit so you don't look like Frida Kahlo. They really listen to what you have to say and give advise as to what may work better with your shape. They also have waxing services and facials. Like most threading salons they have a stamp card. Every 10th eyebrow threading is free! Tip: Be specific and ask for there opinion. They will let you check to see if you like the way your brows look every step of the way so you make sure they're to your liking. read more

Okay, I must change my review ratings. I hope the degraded quality is only a temorary issue. The last couple of visits have left me extremely dissatisfied. Results have been subpar: eyebrows that didn't match and were not shaped well. After one visit, I had bald spots and had to resort to using an eyebrow pencil to fill in. The old staff needs to return. So, I'm on the hunt for a neighborhood threading salon. Meanwhile, I'll return to Shobha, where I'll pay more but leave satisfied. read more

I came back a few days ago for my second time, and my artist took so much off my eyebrows and they are uneven with no shape. They look horrible. Rash threading and painful waxing! Ensure ingrown hair and uneven growth as the staff is not experienced or trained in hair removal. Looks shabby and the staff is inexperienced. Extremely low maintenance of the space and also not clean. They said they have my waxing box stored separately and charged me. but the next time mentioned, there has been a change and do not have it. Just cause it was relatively cheaper in the neighborhood I tried but never again!!! read more

I have been coming here for a long time (see my previous review). The last two times have been terrible. The technician that I had was too busy trying to promote other services WHILE threading that she's not focused on the actual job. I walked out of there with cuts all over the side of my eyebrows from the thread. This has never happened except the last two times at Monica's. read more

I went in here on day on a whim. I asked for a waxing (wanted my eyebrows to last longer than plucking or threading.) She waxed a bit and TOOK A SMALL CHUNK OF SKIN OFF MY EYELID!! I kid you not. She then threaded the rest - exactly what I didn't want. NEVER again. read more

I've been getting my eyebrows threaded and facials done here for almost two years. They do a very thorough job, are attentive and sweet, and charge much less than most places in Brooklyn or the city. I usually go there for treading, and at that they do a great job. I went on Sunday and the lady that was in that day suggested to get an acne facial as my face was breaking out lately due to stress from work...On Wednesday I decided to stop by after work..and went in and a different lady from Sunday was there. She was not in a good mood I guess because she didn't even great me when I came in, she was sitting down and while looking at her magazine asked what I needed. I told her I would like a facial, she asked which one...so I asked what options she had..she showed be a card which had all of them listed... I chose European acne facial listed for $65 for 60minutes...she asked me to follow her to the room..she handed me a dirty robe and asked me to wait for her..I kind of was expecting how the facial would turn out when I saw the robe... I put it on and waited for her to come back.. after waiting 10 minutes I see her from the door she's sitting down reading her magazine...I saw a customer come in and ask for treading so I didn't call her and waited for the customer to leave. 10 minutes after she comes over to see me..and she asks why are you not laying under the steam??? I told her that I was expecting for her to clean my face before the steam.. She started at 6:30 pm, with the 'facial' she first used cleaner which felt like hand soap and as the steam was going then cleaned my face with a wet paper towel. She the applied what seemed to be a toner/astringent..and again another wet paper towel. .. She then went onto the extraction. .which was only done on my nose..she then used the paper towel one more time...and massaged my face..the massage was not bad but less then 5 minute...she then applied a mask covered my eye lids with paper and told me not to move. .she turned the lights off and left the room.. After a while came back removed the mask with the damp towel, massages my arms...and said thank you thats it...:( it was 7:08 pm I told her that was not 60 mins, she said no its 40-45 I misread..it was another facial that was an hour..I got dressed and followed her to the front.. I should her the card where it said 60 minutes and her explantion was oh that's for the people that need bleaching you don't need that..so why not mention that at the beginning. overall very disappointed with their facials..but I would go back only for their threading read more

I go here every time I'm in town. It costs half of what I pay in the DC area to get my eyebrows threaded. And, it's usually the same lady working the place on her own, so I get rewarded as a loyal customer with consistent service. However, that consistency is also this place's downside. When there's a line, and only one person working, sometimes the wait is irritating. But at least the A/C cranks in this place so you'll keep cool instead of sweltering in the summertime Brooklyn heat in the meantime. They do pretty good threading, at a great price. This isn't a five star spa, but it gets the job done. read more
