This place is so bright and cheerful! There's always little candies put out and there's a TV to watch when you're getting shampooed. I see Joy and honestly have nothing but amazing things to say about her. She is the sweetest, most knowledgeable stylist I've ever been to. She takes time to understand your hair and what you want/what would look best on you. She's also the first stylist I've had where I love how she styles my hair at the end and I don't feel like I have to go home and redo it. I had a great experience at the salon. This was my first time at Awsum. My stylist Keeley greeted me as soon as walked in and was very sweet. My hair color came out exactly how I wanted it and the same as the pictures I showed Keeley. I had told her that I wanted contrast between the highlights and she did it exactly the way I wanted. I also have very thick hair and part it to the side, she cut it a way that no one has ever done before. She cut it so one side of my head is not a thick main. It looks even on both sides even though I part it to the side. Keeley also had my hair cut and colored in a little over two hours. Worst haircut I ever had. This place is horrid. Too much sharing ~ I know the whole life story of the stylist. I just wanted a good haircut I didn't want a sharing session and a crappy haircut for $83.00. Was not worth the headache, got a young gal who instead of being gracious about a customer who was more than willing to give her a break ( stuff happens and no one's perfect) since it usually takes several visits to truly get established with one another. However when I needed to have an issue corrected, she said to come in and acted like there was no problem until I had pointed it out (I went to school for cosmetology), she fixed it, I tried to make it comfy like it happens. However, this gal, only a couple years out of school must have been offended and instead of taking this as a learning experience, she took offense and said I should find another hairdresser, wt? I did, couldn't be happier and actually get better service, outcome and costs the same! Except my new person actually listens (instead of planning their weekend with coworkers) and has far more experience! It is a great salon. So I havent had my hair done in over a year. I needed a cut, dye and style. Katie did my hair. 2.5 hours and I wasnt impressed at the end. She suffered doing my style bc I have thick hair and I still tipped her for her time. I got home. I looked in the mirror and I love it!! She did what I asked and I am happy. Do. Not. Visit. First, during this time of MANDATED masks, not one employee is wearing a mask. There is no social distancing, you are less than 3 feet from the client next to you and don't even get me started on the shampoo bowls; You're inches from the next client. My second time at this salon and I can say I will no longer be a client. I was here just recently and had a cut & style done and I felt I was at super cuts rather then a client focused salon. The girl who was my stylist was very nice however, she did not deliver to what I was expecting. I asked for a simple trim of 3 inches off and layers but all I received was a trim and was out of my seat in 25 min. For paying $50 I would expect to receive a far better haircut and not be rushed. read more

I have been going to Dana, the owner, for about 6 months. First visit I had an appointment at 9:00 and she arrives 30 minutes later and second visit she arrives 10 minutes late for an 9:00 appointment. Been very happy with the way she does my color and hair cut so I excused her for being late. Several weeks ago I made another appointment later in the day and she was on time, but my hair was "FRIED" and over processed. Went into the shop a week later and Dana set me up an appointment for a condition treatment. Appointment was for 8:00 yesterday and I sat in the car until 8:10 and finally her husband opened the doors while he also had a client waiting. I went in and asked if he knew when Dana was coming in and he said she was running late. I cancelled my appointment and will not be going back. Obviously, they have issues opening on time. read more

I've gone to this salon three times and each time I've found the results to be lack luster. The first time I went in was about 12 weeks ago. I left with choppy early 2000s highlights which I had to go back and get corrected. The end result was they never looked great but it was a vast improvement. This time I went in and the girl who helped me originally was no longer with the salon so I was paired with someone else. I got a hair cut and more highlights to try to even out what was done the first time. My cut is very choppy. To the point where even my husband can tell and he's normally oblivious. The highlights are uneven with the top looking platinum and further down being a darker shade of blonde. While the people that work their are nice they charge premium prices for very poorly done hair. read more

I love Dana and Chris with all my heart, and have trusted them with my hair (and my boys' hair) for years. I have been traveling an hour each way, back and forth, every six weeks for the past 18 years to have Dana do my hair. I get more compliments on my color than I can even explain. Thought I would try out this salon since my other salon charges so much. I was so upset with my results after my appointment. I just wanted heavier blonde on top since I had more of an ombré look. My hair is pretty naturally dark. The stylist decided to add a base to lighten my dark hair, which in turn turned my hair orange. I told her that I was unhappy with the results and she happily said she would fix it. Awesome! This was the first time I actually didn't leave without saying something. She added more blonde to eliminate the orange. At this point my scalp is in fire mode. The end result was Yellow. It wasn't the service as they were very nice, but it was the quality. The stylist and another person then pretty much blamed the results on me being pregnant. At that point I was internally upset that anyone would say that, let alone a professional business. I unfortunately will not be going back due to the quality of service not the service itself. read more

I went in for a haircut the other day and was very impressed. The salon was clean, well decorated, and welcoming. The girl at the front desk (has brown hair) was very nice. Awsum butchered haircut! Very disappointed with the haircut and the service environment. I got there 30 minutes before my appointment and 4-5 different people came to the front counter and not a single one acknowledged me even though we looked at each other dead in the eyes, didn't even care to pass a smile. So after 30 minutes of awkwardness and sitting there I finally asked one of the girls if the person I came to see would be ready for my appointment. I SHOULD'VE listened to my instincts and left instead of giving them a chance but lesson learned, the person who cut my hair was very nice. However, I got the feeling he was new to cutting hair because even after talking about what kind of fade I want he gave me this super high fade which almost completely messed up my hair and I knew for a fact at that point he was blowing smoke about how good he was. Didn't get the fade I wanted and then to make it worse, it was uneven ‍ fml. High uneven fade which a barber couldn't even fix. So after the fade was butchered I thought maybe he'll cut the top of my hair correctly but to no surprise that was a fail too, I was very cautious with the top and decided to just leave with what I have. In conclusion, seemed like the only good guy there but gave me a bad haircut and wouldn't go there again. Oh what was even worse than the experience, the person I wanted to get the haircut from was just chilling there killing time the entire time when I was told he's booked, no appointment came the entire time I was there. read more
