NOTE: This review is based on my experience with the service department at Axmen. Their sales staff made it right in the end so no complaint about them. Here's what happened: bought a brand new pellet stove from them for $2,000. Got it home, hooked it up, it wouldn't work. Called service, he walked me through a couple things over the phone and got it working. Great. Next day, not working again. This time they send a service man out and he plays with it a little and changes some wires on my thermostat and got it working again. Great. Next day, not working again. Called - guy is busy - need to call me back. Never calls. Next day, called - guy is still not available - I'm getting a little upset at this point. Lady promises guy will call me. Never calls. Next FOUR DAYS were Thanksgiving weekend. They all closed all 4 days. Outside temperature: 25 degrees F. Inside, a balmy 34 degrees. So Monday I call and I'm pretty hopping mad by now. For the past week after spending $2,000 on a pellet stove I am still seeing my breath inside. Lady says she can have a guy out tomorrow for sure. Guy comes out Tuesday, finds a defective switch and gets it working again. Then proceeds to tell me "since you were so mean to the lady on the phone yesterday, I've got to charge you for a service call. $200" WT ACTUAL F?? The thing is less than two weeks old and has NEVER worked since I bought it. "Well," he says "since you installed it yourself the warranty is void" Nobody ever told me that at the time of my purchase. In fact - they helped me load the thing onto my trailer. I paid the guy because he said he was an independent service man but I grumbled hard about it the whole time (as you might expect). Then he has the NERVE to tell me "I'm putting a note in your file and we will never do business with you again" Had to literally laugh out loud in the guy's face at that one. Really? You don't want to do business with me again? After just screwing me out of $2,000 for a pellet stove that doesn't work and has no warranty - and then again out of $200 for a service call you really think I have ANY plans of ever setting foot on your property ever again? To the sales department's credit - they did allow me to return the stove (I wasn't keeping the stove if I was BLACKLISTED by their service department) and credited me back the $200 that jerk service manager charged me. So in the end - all it cost me was a trip back to return the stove and a small ulcer dealing with their service department. And the happy ending was that I ended up going to Tractor Supply in Lolo and buying another stove for half the cost of the one I bought from Axmen - so that saved me a grand - which helps ease my pain. But why they would allow their service manager to ruin their company's reputation like that is beyond me. All it would have taken to make me happy was just fixed the damn stove and give me a warranty. So yeah - if you're buying feed or fencing or whatever...probably not a bad store to shop at. But anything that might require service after the sale.....YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!! read more

Went to buy a new cleaner burning wood stove today and they refused to sell to us...said we are on the stagnant air zone.....we have been grandfathered in and have been burning wood for the last 15years as our main source of heat.. Thought they would of liked us to be using a cleaner stove so we don't pollute the air so much but I guess not....sorry axmen but you just lost out on $3000 sale from us...we will take our business elsewhere. read more

2 months ago Anthony came out to replace our 13-year old gaskets. I never inspected his work until June 7, then found out he had done absolutely nothing. He had not even removed the old, seven-foot long, creosote-covered, baked, frayed, loose gaskets, and he just stuffed a broken section back in. I contacted James the stove manager and sent him pics of the gaskets. He sent me Anthony's own pics of his work as proof--and they are the same pics! We both have sets of pictures of the same old gaskets. James deadass told me, "I'm looking at 2 feet of new gasket right now." Curiously, the gasket is 7 feet long and the 2 foot section is that broken section. I talked to the owner, Guy, and finally had to send them pictures of a new gasket taken from a woodstove DIY video. There is also the matter that the gasket is more like 7 feet. I still have the "2 foot" section that was supposed to be replaced. This is the one that Anthony had just shoved back into place. He did not replace any of the rest. If he DID "check them" he should have replaced them. Honestly what check is needed? I asked for them to be replaced, so it doesn't matter how old they are. I did not ask to be billed for a shine job. For the pics, the ones of my stove will be sent as separate links due to file size. See the side door gasket. See how it is white but old. Still there. Just like the other creosote-covered crap in the top that I had agreed to pay $175 to replace. You made sure I know that I am responsible for the call and the gasket; there is no gasket so maybe I need to remind YOU of who is responsible for what. Don't ever patronize me like that again. That cements my resolve to demand a refund. The work was not done and this is taking a long time and I'm getting sh**. So, I just want a refund. Unless you want to send someone with integrity up here and guarantee your work and not bill me for this utter trash treatment. We had to go back 3 times to try and get the correct woodstove pipe as each time they didn't get the order correct. Finally decided to return everything and buy it elsewhere. The information they provided was incorrect, they didn't listen to what are needs were. Three trips at 45 miles each way does not make for a happy customer. Most telling was hearing an employee say to another employee after we returned the pipe "welcome to the shit show". We won't be back. Trader Brothers in Lolo got all the parts/pieces correct on the first visit and cost less. read more

I scheduled a guy to come out to replace the all gaskets on a wood stove and he didn't do anything. At. All. He didn't even replace a screw that was the wrong size. I should have sat and watched him but the whole point is that I was busy. So apparently he spent an hour vacuuming. He did not replace ANY gasket; he didn't even clean the old glue off of a missing gasket that prompted me to call Axmen in the first place. They charged me $177 for this and you bet I'm getting that off. read more

Thank you Axmen for your friendly, professional, and dedicated work! I recently purchased a new gas stove/fireplace from them in order to replace an antique wood stove (I live in central Missoula and we don't want to burn wood even though we may be grandfathered in and allowed to). Not only is visiting their showroom pretty cool to see the various historical artifacts, but the people are both friendly and super helpful. Once we decided on a unit, we received detailed billing information with a line-item description of all the parts we would need. The service desk also took notes about our unique needs and concerns so anybody looking at our install would understand the necessities of the job. When it came time to do the install (and remove my old very heavy stove and carry it to the garage!) each member of a full crew introduced themselves and were very professional and pleasant. The lead installers were not only very friendly, but excellent communicators explaining every detail that would happen in order to have a safe and perfect installation. The lead installer also took me through the unit's various features when it was all finished. All in all, I couldn't have had a better experience with Axmen and I will certainly call on them for future needs...next up, solar panels! read more

Axmen installed a Quadra Fire Adventure III September 2017. We have had problems with the stove performing ever since. Many parts have been replaced on it, and it never quite works as it should, and we have to run it in manual mode. If we wanted to run a stove in manual mode we would have bought a Blaze King which was our initial choice. However, a sales associate at the Axmen talked us into the Quadra Fire Adventure III. Now we are to the point of calling at least once a week to find out what the status is on our stove. No one returns calls. We are told, "we are working on it". Perhaps they are, but it's been several months of "we are working on it". The warranty is good for 1 year, and we have 2 months before that runs out. I would recommend being very careful buying from the Axmen. Customer service is not their strong suit apparently. We are still hopeful that this matter will be taken care of without having to take further action to enforce the warranty. read more

A great collection of things you might need. Nice people. The best part is the antiques and collectibles that are on display.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect when walking into this store, but it definitely wasn't anything I would have imagined. To be honest, the place was almost like a museum with all the interesting memorabilia and antiques hanging on the walls. It was so cool to see all that stuff. I would go there just to look at that and the boys were equally impressed. We also got to see the geese, ducks, and chickens they had in. We were permitted to touch them and the women were more than happy to answer questions about them. It was actually really informative and quite fun. In the lower part of the store, they had the most gorgeous fire pits and quite a bit of handmade pottery from the area. We're definitely planning to visit again sometime soon. A great place to show the children some history! read more
