In the heart of Pittsfield, Massachusetts is the best ice cream your tongue will ever taste, called "Ayelada". This delicious place came recommended by the locals and it is the best! I'm not sure what they put in it or how they do it but I'm addicted!! I've been several times and these are the ones I've had...vanilla with strawberries, blueberries & chocolate chips, next 3 visits I had the banana cream pie with yogurt dollops topping , and this last visit I had the watermelon with fresh watermelon topping. The fruit toppings were fresh from farm, only the best! The service is phenomenal every single time that I have been here everybody has been so nice and so prompt to help every customer . The inside of the establishment is clean plenty of seats. There is also outside seating. Bathrooms were clean too! I just connected the the owners of CRUST is the same owner of AYELADA, it all makes sense as the are next door to each other and both are absolutely the best in town! I arrived just after they opened for the day. Staff member greeted me and was friendly. The Mango Froyo was good but the granola was rather "earthy" tasting. One topping, in this case, a small scoop of granola, added $1.25 to the cost - Definitely not worth it, if I was to go again, I would skip the topping. Hello, today i was in ayelada and some teenager who appears to be new, and wasn't in uniform decided to treat me and my friend with insane disrespect. She was giving us dirty looks and was pushing around her coworkers while screaming at us for what we wanted. She then proceeded to go outside with her boyfriend for over 5 minutes. Wow had heard great things.... It's even Better. They have so many people working here. I swear there was like 7-8 people on a random Thursday afternoon. Like three girls and back three girls in front and they were so nice. The place is immaculate completely clean and is actually much larger than I imagined. They have great vegan flavors and obviously I'm sure are very well known for their non-vegan flavors. My kids absolutely loved it and honestly the portions were so big no one finished my food. We decided to have dessert here after we had pizza next door at Crust. We though that's because Crust was so great this place would be too, same owner. That was a mistake. The passion fruit frozen yogurt didn't taste like it had any flavor. So much so that I asked the girl behind the counter if she gave me original by mistake. This spot offers a few flavors daily but at least one is vegan/dairy free. This time I tried the dairy-free chocolate-banana which was so much better than expected! I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate or strong banana flavor but honestly this yogurt perfectly blended the two together. It was also super light and refreshing. I was overwhelmed by the toppings offered so I enjoyed it with the classic rainbow sprinkles and it was perfect. Patrons have the option to order online and pick up curbside, or order right outside the door. Mediocre at best. Went there expecting some great, locally made, ice cream, only to encounter that same soft serve stuff you find in literally thousands of places around the country. Only four or five flavors, and at least the one I had (non-dairy coffee) didn't taste like much. Plenty of toppings, but who cares about toppings anyway. It's all about the quality and flavor. This was decent quality, but zero flavor. Ambience is okay if you want to bring the kids, and service was courteous if a bit slow. Not worth a trip, and only worth it if you're in the area if you are a soft serve aficcionado. Not for foodies, or real ice cream fans. read more

Hmm I've been having mixed feelings with this place recently. Service is often mediocre, not very welcoming. Today there were no mochi(which is my main reason to eat froyo). Strawberries were overripe and gross. The staff put too many chips and just a few other toppings. She didn't give me receipt either. It was such a disappointment... I don't always admit it when my mother-in-law is right, but she nailed this one. She said that the frozen yogurt at Ayelada is the best she's ever had and that I'd agree. Darn it, she was right! The yogurt here is the best frozen yogurt I've ever had. They only have two machines, each with two flavors. I tasted all four. Today's flavors were original (mildly tart), strawberry-banana, dark chocolate and almond butter. They're all based on the original, made on the premises and all taste much more like fresh ingredients than the other multi-handled competitors that I've visited. Don't get me wrong; I like the chain frozen yogurt shops with their vast inventive flavor selections. But this place is simpler, more wholesome and more delicious. We dropped in at this froyo store after having dinner in the area and we loved this restaurant. The store was clean, the staff was polite, and the frozen yogurt was incredible. The toppings bar was well stocked and the quality blew us out of the water. The small critiques we had were that they didn't have a no sugar added option. This was not a large concern and didn't impact our rating. The slight letdown was that the serving looked huge, but when we got it there was a huge empty space in the center of the serving.
