I really like Ayinger beer and, have had it at many restaurants in Munich. Oddly enough, many of the curry houses in Munich serve this beer. It's not a Munich brewery and therefore, does not dominate the local pub scene. The brewery is located in Aying and like most breweries around Bavaria, has a restaurant / biergarten next fo the brewery. There is also a guesthouse next to the restaurant in case you have had one too many ;-)) It's a fairly big restaurant / biergarten and you have a choice of self service or table service areas to sit. The menu is huge and they also have a daily specials list. The food is hearty Bavarian fare with an odd bit of "healthy" options, for fussy eaters ;-)) I had the fleischpflanzerl (Bavarian burger) and it came with a hearty helping of potato salad. The food was well cooked, tasted great and I really enjoyed it. I think I licked the plate clean here ;-)) The small town of Aying is quite pretty and the whole surrounding area here is beautiful. I believe it is possible to get here by public transport, you would have to check. This is a nice countryside location and more traditional than many of the places in the city. I would happily come here again. Service is quick, food is good as is the beer and prices are also quite good. It's great value for money and, a nice way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Amazing place. A beer hall from a famous brewery in the middle of a small village. Quiet, rustic, birds singing, town clock chiming. Awesome beer, great food, top service. Even though our server didn't speak a word of English, our order went smooth with our rudimentary German. The white (morning) sausages were the best we tried across Bavaria and Tirol.

Be prepared for a somewhat steep climb up to the Biergarten and Monastery. You will definitely need a beer when you reach the top. The property is gorgeous and we enjoyed the view. Definitely try any of the restaurants/food vendors. They all looked delicious and we decided on sausage and sauerkraut - very good. Also, the beer is fantastic! One star off for the less than friendly server at the restaurant.

Since it is Oktoberfest and a sunny day on a Saturday the place is jammed full of people. There are several beer gardens and interior dining rooms as well. The group of us found a comfortable table in the sun in one of the beer gardens and some went to gather an array of traditional dishes while others went for the beer. Table service seemed to be available only indoors on this day. The food, an array of items such as pretzels, potatoes, meats like pork Haxn and meat loaf were quite tasty. The dark beer, "dunkel", is my favorite and it was fabulous. The varieties this time of year is mind boggling. A half liter was fine for me. What an enjoyable experience yet the crowds were a bit crazy too. One can always go into the church for some tranquility, if needed.

Thanks for your help and also suggestion "Don't drink too much beer!". It is definitely a tourist stop over but glad I did it and you should too. Make a left and at the end is where you pay for the beer, grab the stein, rinse and get it filled. All done within 30 feet radius. You can retrace back and grab all the meats and such. Cash only! All spoke good English so communication was good.

The schnitzel was almost perfect, the chicken was well cooked, and we had a great salad as well. The bottle of local wine was also excellent. We ordered a couple of appetizers to share. One that stood out was their trio dip and I particularly liked the pork belly crackling dip that was served with sourdough bread. It definitely is not the most healthy as it was greasy, but super flavorful with great texture from the cracklings. Another one I enjoyed was their Regensburger Wurstsalat. The sausages were thinly sliced paired with a crispy, tangy vinaigrette which was refreshing especially in a hot summer day. The scallions and red onions added another level of flavor and texture. For main, I ordered their braised pork belly and was pleasantly surprised. Th meat was tender, skin was still crispy and the sauce was hearty yet not too salty. My kids tried their schnitzel and they enjoyed it. However, my husband ordered one of their beef dish and I was told it was dry and salty. I honestly would recommended to just stick with pork when in Germany/Austria and stay away from beef because ever beef dishes we've tried were not good. Overall, this is your typical Biergarten with plenty of outdoor seating and tv's available to watch any sports. Our servers were all very friendly and relatively quick Austrian standard. The only thing is some tv's streamed ahead of others so the people who's watching the slower tv were a little upset as they would've heard the reaction of others before they can see the actions.
