Decided to visit Smart Health Medical and specifically see Dr. Vi and I was so pleased with my first visit I've never gone anywhere else in the last five years! The office accepts walk-ins (from what I remember written on the door, I could be wrong) as well as appointments, and they have great late night and weekend hours a couple times a week. I continue to see Dr. Vi for annual physicals, check-ups and any unknown symptoms even after moving to the Bronx. When I move out of the city someday I'll be sad to leave Dr. Vi behind but while I'm here I cannot recommend her enough. As everyone says, she cares about her patients and takes her time with us. She actively listens and is so well versed in so many different types of treatments and good lifestyle habits. If you don't need pills, she''ll tell you that and offer up better everyday habits that can help you live and feel better. She takes a holistic approach to your health and is in no way a pill-pusher looking to make insurance money off you. Most of my visits result in a clean bill of health after taking vitals, and blood or urine samples on site--if necessary. But when you do need a scan, treatment or prescription she goes above and beyond to make sure you get exactly what you need, when you need it, and makes sure it's covered under your insurance so you're not hit with sticker shock at the pharmacy or referred specialist. The office even faxed my referral paperwork to a specialist when I forgot the paper at home before my appointment. Saved me from having to reschedule or take off work to go home and get it. I could go on and on but there's no need. Dr. Vi has been the best doctor I've ever seen in my 30 years who does more than anyone I've seen to care for her patient's needs.

However, it was time for my annual check-up, and I now have my own insurance which I pay, so on a recommendation from a friend, I seeked out Dr. Charlotten. The office is right in my alley. Plus, the last doctor I had was pretty terrible. 2 hours waits, and he rushed all the time. He didn't even have time to hear me out. So I was glad to be seeing Dr. Charlotten. The staff is very friendly, and on my first visit, the receptionist explained when I need to pay, and when I don't. I was very surprised that on a follow-up for the blood results, I did not have to pay co-pay! The office is really cozy and inviting, which makes everyone feel more at ease. And Dr. Charlotten was really great! He really takes his time with you, and is super thorough. He asks you all the right questions, and I never felt intimidated or anything when I was telling him my problems. He is very patient and tries his best to understand you and gives solutions to your ailments. He gives the necessary tests. For example, he noticed that my sister's tonsils were a bit inflammed, so he ran some allergy tests, and it turns out that my sister is allergic to cockroaches! Which is pretty funny, but sucks for her, cause those buggers are everywhere. Dr. Charlotten is definitely the most thorough doctor that I have ever had. I just hope he does not get too popular, for I will have to wait longer to see him the next time.

BE PREPARED TO WAIT. Unless you like to wait in a dirty doctors office for hours on end, avoid this place. Not sure why they take appointments if they call patients by order of arrival. They should just tell you that you will be seen by order of arrival.

Once he was done I tried asking him about a little mark I have on my leg he didnt looked at it and told me I was in for a phisical. Second I got a bill from my insurance for $78 for some test they did. I'm a healthy person and obviously they knew I was doing my physical since the doctor was very mean once I tried asking him something else. Not sure why they send test that are not included on the biannual check. That would not have bother me so much if I would had gotten the results but I never got a follow up from them on how to check my results. Johnson & Johnson 1-Shot was administered by kindly Dr. Michael Moy, 100% painless with a special ultra-thin needle. Dr. Moy then gave me a 15 minute observation period, during which we had a pleasant conversation about our old neighborhood etc, as he observed for any reaction to the vaccine. After 15 minutes he sent me on my way, with the proviso that it would be 2 weeks until I was fully immunized. I experienced no discomfort at all in the past 9 days, just a small swelling in the muscles under the injection site that caused no pain.
