Came in for cold sores, receptionist was very sweet. Doctor Waiho Lum left the door wide open during my examination and let the entire office staff see my sores. I had to tell him to close it when he walked past the second time. It was a humiliating experience and a complete violation of HIPAA laws and patient privacy. Please go somewhere else!! We are very lucky to have this Urgent Care in our neighborhood. Dr. Lum is wonderful! He is thorough, compassionate, kind. and seeks to help us the most with a careful approach. His assessment skills are excellent and he then develops a timely and wonderfully helpful treatment plan. We first saw him 16 years ago, and now have the greatest confidence in him as our primary care physician. Highest recommendation possible! This Urgent Care also benefits from a wonderful staff that works with him. Stacey H. is Assistant Office Manager, and you could not find anyone more helpful. I highly do not recommend this clinic at all! If I could give zero stars I would, the doctor was impatient and rude. Although the nurse was nice. doctor he had no patience at all, I was here to have a check up on my daughter and her usual doctor's clinic was closed. When my phone was ringing uncontrollably, he felt so disrespected he said in quote "Are you gonna pick that up because if you do than I'm leaving because I'm giving you my full attention span" he said this in a very rude tone. After that he stated to my daughter "if you are my daughter I wouldn't do this or that" I consider this is very disrespectful. Got here at 1:30pm, feeling unwell. Got called to sit in an office room at 1:45 when a doctor finally came in at 2:40pm. I was diagnosed with a slight upper respiratory issue and they sent prescription to my pharmacy, got to my pharmacy at 3pm and was told i had to get an alternative prescription so I called the front desk to ask the Doctor for alternative and they told me to wait. 30 minutes turned into 45 to an hour and then an hour n half, waiting at the pharmacy like an idiot. I went back to the office and see the doctor going in and out to other patients so I asked the front desk what was going on and they said he was still with a patient. I asked if he's been with just one the for the entire hour and half and they said yes. They eventually told him I came back and was sitting there waiting so he took me into the office and he said he was really busy with other patients and misunderstood what was going on. I dont appreciate the front desk lying to me, if i didnt come back i would still be waiting at the pharmacy. Spoke to the doctor for 2 minutes and found out there was no alternative prescription and continue my current medication and to just go home for now. I wouldnt come back here because I find the front desk rude and unwilling to be helpful. read more

Went to the urgent care with husband. Staff were quick for checking in, doing vital signs . The only complaint i have is no ventilation in here. NP M. Robinson saw me for his problem. He answered all our questions and explained what we need to do for my husband's illness. Exam room was clean , however no ventilation also. Unfortunately I also had a bad experience. My doctor was not Dr. Lum and i cannot recall his name. Had a stomach bug and doc just said go get some pepto bismol. I asked for a presc so that i could submit for reimbursement from my personally funded FSA. He gave me a look and said " it's only 6 dollars, I'm not writing you a presc." Well if the copay is ONLY $30, maybe he can pay for it. Highly unprofessional and i would recommend others to find another place which I'm also basing off of other reviews. read more

The 2 front desk staff members on Sunday are rude. Walked up to the desk and they both had their heads down until I greeted them and then they looked up at me with an annoyed look. They also had a careless attitude. The doctor that I saw was professional and very nice. He was patient with me and kept asking if I had any further questions. Came to Dr Lum twice so far and really really like him a lot!! First time I came at around 10am on the weekend and there was only one other person before me. Second time I came around 9:30am on monday and waited about 30 mins. Dr Lum is very nice and very patient. He took the time to answer all my questions, listened to me describe my symptoms and he took the time to explain my conditions. He seems to genuinely cares about his patients. I wish he could be my primary care as I am having a hard time to find a good doctor like him to be my primary care in the forest hills area.. however they charge me ER copay which is $50 vs the $20 that I pay for my primary care.... read more

Was there with my husband and found the doctor to be quite rude to him. My husband had merely asked a question in response to further suggested action by the doctor. It was early in the day and the office was not busy so it may have been something else going on that caused him to react with such impatience but it was unprovoked and unprofessional. I know doctors are humans and go through personal turmoil but stressing a patient doesn't help them. Recognize that you are not feeling your best and don't take it out on someone that doesn't feel good either. Staff witnessed this but no one apologized or commented. Ugh. Everyone who works here is kind, but that's about all I can say. First of all, they charge you a copay for a Covid-19 test, because they count it as a doctor visit, even if literally all you do is get a Covid test. This is absurd. Second, the bloody doctors couldn't diagnose an ear infection! The doctor here said "There's nothing wrong, probably just some congestion, try Claritin-D." I did try Claritin-D and it didn't help and my ear felt worse and worse. I went to a Northwell urgent care center and the doctor was like, "This is an ear infection, I'll prescribe antibiotics and a steroid and you'll be able to hear again." Northwell has an urgent care down the road on Queens Boulevard, and there is a CityMD on Austin Street. Go to one of those, but avoid this place. read more

Had some symptoms that were on the list of COVID symptoms so visited Dr. Lum. I phoned and the front desk was very professional. I checked in when I arrived and they asked me to wait outside due to a maximum number of people being allowed inside at a given time. Their safety precautions were impeccable. When I met with Dr. Lum his bedside manner was so reassuring. He took the time to answer my questions and put me at ease. Dr. Lum reminds me of my pediatrician from the 1960's. He has a professional and cordial way of relating that is, most importantly, genuine. I also have complete trust in his professional opinion. read more

My mom and I have come here on several occasions as opposed to going to our doctor or the hospital, especially on weekends. Wait time: I haven't really waited longer than 30 minutes, which only happened once. The staff is super friendly, which helps when you're hoping to be treated. Expertise/diagnosis/professionalism: I've only dealt with one doctor and he is extremely knowledgeable and quick with the diagnosis. He is also open to any questions you might have. Although it's a 10 minute drive from Rego Park, I'd take that over any of the other UC offices in the area. It's great to know that there's a facility that cares for its patients and is greatly equipped to handle most situations within a reasonable period and with the upmost care. What I love is that the doctor's recommended treatment will help treat not only the symptoms, but the root cause. I HIGHLY recommend this location for all of the above reasons, but am slowly regretting that because if the number of visitors increase, so will our wait time, haha. But in all seriousness it's assuring to know that these professionals are nearby and ready every day of the week! read more

Went with a family member. The receptionist were very nice and kept the environment safe due to Covid-19. Afterwards, everything went downhill. The doctor was very rude and inconsiderate. She did not ask what medications my family member took at home nor did ask of any important medical history that could be related to the illness. In addition, she misdiagnosed my family member and kept talking on and on why her diagnosis was right. It seems like she enjoyed hearing her own voice. My family member and I just kept nodding our heads so that she would stop talking so much, lol. She under-dosed the prescription per the pharmacist at the pharmacy. We went to knowledgeable doctor, who provided us with a valid diagnosis and also a correct dosage for the drug for my family member's illness. The other doctor, my family member went to was also confused by the urgent care drug dosage as well. It was a waste of copayment but it's alright. At least I know not to go to this urgent-scare anymore. Also the doctor talked so loud, I pretty much heard the conversation next door and I'm pretty sure everyone heard our conversation too. I felt like our privacy was violated. Maybe we just lucked out with whoever was covering that day. read more

STAY AWAY!! Came here Thursday around 10:30am. First question I asked when I walked in was what doctor is here? I was told Dr. Lum is here. Then the receptionist asks me why I'm here. I said can I please sign in and write it. She says no I need to know why you are here first. Way to abide by HIPPA laws, because it's private and the 2 people in the waiting area did not need to know. So I said I think I have the flu and an eye infection to go with it. She made me pay and told me to have a seat. The other 2 people in the waiting area were having urine tests. In which the receptionist took care of it. (There were 2 receptionists, both very rude young girls.) Then she calls me into the small doctor room and takes my blood pressure and tell me "Dr. Lum is stuck in traffic" I said wait, he's not here?? She said no he saw that you were here on computer and just called and said to tell you he's in traffic. I said and you made me pay before telling me this when I walked in and asked which doctor was here? (Hence why she made me say out loud why I was there when I got there, so she could call Dr. Lum and tell him I needed a doctor and not some urine test.) She said well it should only be 20min and I can refund you if it's longer. I reluctantly said ok. After 25 min of waiting in the small doctor room I went out to desk and said "Can you please call him? I have the flu and this is exhausting, you open at 9am, how is there no doctor here??" It was now about 11:30am. When I said that, the other rude receptionist/shouldn't be dealing with people in general says something under her breath that made the other girl snicker. Real nice. So the girl calls Dr. Lum with me standing there and says "Yeah, same person. Her copay is $50. Okay. Bye" Then she says to me "so Dr. Lum is traveling between both locations. (The other one is in LIC!!) He hasn't left yet and said he will waive your copay if you want to wait a while." What happened to traffic you liar! What URGENT care is open without a doctor on premises?!!! I said you couldn't have just told me that when I walked in?? NO I am not waiting for him to leave Long Island City. What a joke and refund my copay. WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had had a doctor office. I had the flu and had to deal with that! DO NOT go there. It should not be open if there is no doctor there, let alone lied to my face and said he was there, then stuck in traffic, then at a different office location! I would have been okay with being told sorry no doctor here now when I walked in, instead the joke of a run around. I've never waited so long to see a doctor not even a public hospital in a third world country. We were told 45 minutes but it's been 2.5 hours and we're still waiting. If we were told it was going to be 2+ hours of wait from the get go I would have left and come back and everything would be fine. I truly believe he likes to help, and he will not try to take your money just because he can. He'll even cut you a break if you can't pay what he asks. When a light cough took a nasty nosedive into full-body convulsive hacking, I took to Yelp to find a place where I could be seen and treated quickly. On a Thanksgiving holiday weekend, this was no short order but Forest Urgent Care Center seemed to top out in every local search for efficiency, quality of care, and value. My visit today only confirmed the stellar reviews I'd read. The office is located mere steps away from the 75th Avenue stop on the E/F line and I was a little worried when I saw how tiny the waiting room was, which was already halfway filled to capacity with three people. Fortunately, there was little wait and only ten minutes after the time I'd taken filled out the forms and hand over my copay, the nurse was already beckoning me into a room. After a preliminary workup - blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate - Dr. Lum came in to see me. The head physician on site, he has a wonderfully calm demeanor that nearly lulled me to sleep as he asked about my symptoms and ran another quick examination. He gave me two prescriptions, patiently answered any other questions I had, and invited me to come back if the meds didn't help, adding that there was no added charge for follow up visits (an enormous plus, as my copay for this visit through Oxford insurance was a whopping $50). The whole visit, from start to finish, had been less than half an hour, which is far less than the time it takes for me to get seen by my own primary care doctor. Best of all, I never felt rushed or treated like a nameless, faceless client by anyone there - be it nurse or doctor. Though I was clearly a walk-in client, they do take appointments and it seemed like there were a few patients who'd chosen Dr. Lum as their own PCP. Had his office been located a little closer to my apartment, I wouldn't hesitate to do the same after my visit today. I have to give Dr. Lum more credit. I've seen him twice now and he is truly an expert in his field. I don't like spending hours in the ER and I didn't want to waste time waiting a week in order to get an appointment at my primary doctor's office, therefore I came directly to Forest Urgent Care Center (which I'm always in and out within 15-20 minutes). The first time I came to him was for pain I was having for months and he knew exactly what I had before running testings on me. I was able to follow-up with an specialist and he agreed 100% on Dr. Lum's initial diagnoses. Second time around I was fighting a nasty cough, I saw Dr. Nivens that works on Wednesdays (also super nice) but the antibiotic she prescribed me wasn't strong enough. I followed-up with Dr. Lum the next week and AGAIN, he knew exactly what was wrong with me. He gave me a chest x-ray in the office (which took 5 minutes) and gave me a stronger antibiotic and cough medication. My co-pay is higher for urgent care services but it is money well spent. I just wished Dr. Lum does PCP services. Why choose Forest Urgent Care Center? 1) No appointments are needed. They open at 9am and if you're the first one in line, you'll be the first one to be seen. They are also opened 7 days a week. 2) You don't have to spend hours in the ER or wait days for an appointment with your PCP. 3) Dr. Lum knows what he's doing and his office is equipped with proper machinery so you don't have to bounce from one place to another for testing. He's super nice too and makes personal follow-up calls with you about test results and personally makes calls to get your referrals. 4) You have 2 weeks for a follow-up appointment and they don't charge you an additional co-pay for your follow-up. read more

I went here last year when I had the worst stomach virus of my life. The attending physician was kind and attentive (although very hesitant and uncomfortable with inserting an IV). I received prompt care. I have been back here twice to take my boyfriend as well for illness and an injury, and received good care then as well. The front desk staff was somewhat aloof and accused me of stealing their pen (I didn't and made a point of using my own), and were more concerned with using their cell phones and asked me for payment 2x. read more

He seems to genuinely care about his patients and offered a follow-up appointment for me free-of-charge to check in on me. I don't have health care, so I paid $75 for the visit. Don't do it. The office is clean. The front desk staff is pleasant & professional. That is all that I can say that is positive. Dr. Lum was dismissive & disinterested. He was much more interested in talking than listening. He didn't even take a medical history aside from drug allergies.There was no one else waiting so he should not have been in a rush. But I'm betting he doesn't get a lot of 2nd visits. When he walked into the exam room he tossed a robotic greeting over his shoulder as he got into position. Obviously not really interested in how I was or whether I got his name. In fairness he's not really that into "names". He never used mine once. He's not really into "symptoms" either. He asked me mine but then cut me off when he thought he had heard enough. Not because he had a "diagnosis". He was just done. Then he read me back the symptoms he had taken note of: "You feel sick". He said. Dr. House had better watch out! He asked me if there were any meds that I had been taking every day over a period of time. I said "no" & was about to tell him what I had taken over the last day or so. But he cut me off again. He's not into "information". When he read my "symptoms" back to me I tried to tell him what he had missed. He became defensive & said that he was only reading back what I had told him. I told him that I thought he was verifying the info. But he wasn't into "accuracy". He then told me I wasn't really having the symptoms I had reported. This man is brilliant! He's using the Jedi mind trick! When I tried to tell him what homeopathic treatments I was using he cut me off again. He's not into "natural medicine". Apparently he's also not into "drug interactions" either. He never gathered the info. For all of his talking, he wasn't into "communicating" and I had to insist that he give me a lay man explanation of the things he was telling me. He then prescribed a drug that I told him I had never heard of. He didn't explain what it was. Imagine my surprise when the pharmacist told me it was a steroid. That's something you might want to tell someone. I declined further tests & made my way across town to see a doctor for a 2nd opinion. Sorry "doc". I'm just not that into "you". Went in today, which is Easter without realizing it was a holiday, but they were opened....what a relief. Everything is done in a no fuss, quick and efficient manner. The office was spotless which is super important to me. The young woman that did my pre-exam was lovely. The wait was only about 15 minutes. Now....I have seen some reviews that knock Dr. Lum...and I have to say, he was very nice to me. I think people may have just misunderstood his personality...he's one of those folks that says 'yes', while you're still talking. It's not that he's disinterested or not listening, just the man's personality. He listened to everything I said and I'm confident he understood and payed attention. He answered every question I had and was a perfect gentleman. I felt very comfortable with his exam....and I can be hard to please if I think a physician is not on their game. I have been seeing Dr. Lum for approximately 5 years for allergy shots. I needed a place that was open on the weekends due to my work schedule. My allergist allows for another doctor to administer the shots. Dr. Lum was the only doctor in the Forest Hills area who would agree to give me the shots at his office. I am happy that I found him. This has made it more convenient for me to get my shots without taking so much time off from work. I have also seen Dr. Lum for other medical concerns which he resolved. I have referred other patients to him as well. Overall, I am happy with the medical care I receive from Dr. Lum. Thank you Dr. Lum. read more

Went in on a busy ol Sunday afternoon and the waiting room was FULL to the MAX when I got here around noon. I believe they do take appointments, but it is basically first come first served... the wait time was surprisingly a lot faster than I originally thought it would be. I was called in in about a half an hour. Dr. Lum has a great bedside manner. He was very pleasant and patiently addressed all my questions and concerns... and not once did I feel rushed during my time with him. He really took the time to explain my options and helped me make the best informed decision on how to handle my condition. I felt a lot better after my visit with him. We've been feeling awful this week - achy, sneezy, wheezy and weak - so Mister decided to visit Dr. Lum at Urgent Care, across the street from home. We walked right in, filled out the customary forms and waited 20 minutes with others who were sneezing and wheezing too ('tis the season). Dr. Lum saw us both in the same room and promptly told us we had Flu A. He explained the medication he prescribed and recommended to us and phoned it in to the Rite Aid across Queens Boulevard, which we headed to. Our entire experience took less than an hour and we we're pleased, albeit resting and drinking lots of fluid to combat the Flu. Came here with a Fever and Headache. Apparently I was starting to come down with the infamous flu of the year. When I first walked in, I really liked the clean atmosphere and the nice smile I was greeted with. The female at the desk was pleasant, took my insurance card, ID and gave me minimal paper work to fill out. Hate having to fill out tons of paperwork at doctors offices. She asked what I was in for, told me to take a seat and that the doctor would be with me shortly. I sat down for all of ten minutes and was quickly ushered into one of the rooms by the MA who took my blood pressure and temperature. I didn't even get a chance to sit down, the doctor walked in immediately, what great and quick service I thought. The doctor, whose name was Dr. Lum, was very caring and empathetic. He asked me all of the necessary questions and seemed very knowledgable. I quickly came to trust him. He told me I was probably coming down with the flu. I was told that if I needed to I could stop by for the next two weeks free of charge to me or my insurance. Very grateful to Dr. Lums office. Hopefully it won't be necessary, but if the need arises I will be back. read more

I went to Dr. Lum a few months ago with a really bad cough. I wasn't sure where to go and I didn't have insurance so I made a call to the office and they told me I could just walk in. I got a chance to see the doctor right away and he examined me thoroughly. He took X-rays of my chest in the next room and diagnosed me with bronchitis. He also did a few other lab tests right there in front of me to see if I had any infections that could like to pneumonia. Thankfully I came out ok. Because money was a concern, I didn't want expensive medication so I asked Dr. Lum to prescribe something that was effective but not as expensive. He knew exactly what to prescribe me and I was better in no time. He offered to give me antibiotics but I declined because I am allergic. He was completely understanding and prescribed other medications instead. My experience with Dr. Lum couldn't have gone more smoothly. I only wish I'd gone to him when I had kidney stones! What the ER's charge for a few hours of basic service is a crime. Next time I'll go see Dr. Lum instead. read more
