The foreman, Stephan, reviewed the scope of the job with us and he and his crew got to work immediately, cutting up a large elm that had fallen by our house and several other large trees that had been damaged in a storm. They were ALL extremely courteous and respectful, not to mention hard-working. They used safe working practices and were professional in all aspects of the job. This last tree was corned in a tight 8 foot space between my new AC, my neighbor's carport, and my house. About 5 months ago I had tried to get an estimate for my fence as it started to sag, but the fencing companies would either, not come out and look at it, would come out but never sent me a quote or just never answered my calls or emails. So now it is March 2016, and after a strong wind storm, the one side of my fence blew down. Sent a search through Thumbtack and Ramos was one of the ones to answer. Let me list why he was such a great choice for doing my fence: 1. I made an appointment for him to come to home at noon to get an estimate. I work 25 minutes from home so I gave myself 45 minutes to drive home to meet him. Well wouldn't you know they closed all the lanes of north bound I-35 for a funeral!!! So I was 40 minutes late driving to my house. And guess what...He waited for me to get there!!! 2. He looked and measured...and gave me an estimate on the spot. This was a solid quote...there was to be no changes to this at any time. He was hundreds of dollars cheaper that the cheapest estimate I had received months before and at this time. 3. He showed up the day and time he promised and got the fence up in one day. He did come back the next day to install the rest of the screws and to do my gate (This is a big deal because my neighbors have a dog that hates me, so I was glad to have the fence up in one day). 4. I asked to have the gate opener to be installed only visible from the back yard. (Two other fence people argued with me about this, said they know better or I won't like etc.). No arguments, said he would do it for me. I figured I would always have to go outside the backyard door to open the gate, but Ramos installed it in such a way, I can reach over the gate to open it from the front yard and no one else would even know the latch is there. I feel so much safer at night alone because of this! (I bought the latch myself ) 5. I had bought a money order to pay for both the right side of the fence and was having him do the left side also. He asked if he could come back to do the left side in a few days because the previous week's rain had put him behind on another job. The money order was for the whole job so I gave it to him that day 6. Sure enough, Ramos again came back on the day he promised and finished the left side of the fence. 7. He and his team were efficient and thorough. Took two days to chop down three trees (1 dead, 2 live) with grinding. They even cleaned up and mowed my lawn and cleaned up all the leaves as well as cleaning up all the driveways. We had some large trees and there was debris across three driveways including our neighbors. They did cut an underground hose I was completely unaware of while grinding one of the tree stumps, but Arturo came by a week later and fixed it. They are responsible and have insurance in case any of the workers get injured. With the grinding of the stump and roots, you can't tell there was even a tree there. Keep in mind that they grind the roots about foot deep, so we had to contact the city to mark any gas pipes or electricity lines which wasn't hard to do (city sent someone promptly in a few days)

I simply had a question about a tree but Adam took me around in a cart giving me a tour since it was my first time here. In the end, I did end up buying a tree which they were happy to hold onto until I am ready to bring to my house. All of the staff are very friendly and Adam was especially helpful. They had trees I have been searching for online and some I thought I would have to buy from tree farms and have shipped here. And not only trees, but they have so much for bushes and shrubs and regular plants to decorate your landscaping if that is what you are looking for. I've seen a lot of trees downed in Austin the past few weeks. In a certified Sunday miracle, it barely clipped my gutter (which hung on!) and landed square in between our houses, roofs no worse for the wear. I still found myself feeling a bit uneasy with the tree so close though, so reached out on Yelp to Texas Tree Doctors to take a look. Nicholas responded immediately and was able to come out just a couple hours later. Nicholas is a wealth of knowledge and was kind to answer basically every question I had in my free consult. He offered some really practical remediation in the form of a nutrient treatment that would help get the tree healthier and more supple so it'd be less likely to break in the future. For hardly any extra he offered to haul away the big branch as well. He also ballparked a cost for removing the tree entirely - all quotes seemed really fair. Ultimately, the tree is on the other side of the property line so removal is up to my neighbor, but I appreciate how straightforward it was to get someone with Nicholas's experience to take a look. If we decide to give some love (or destruction) to the tree he'll be the first guy I call.
