I figured I would just walk in and make an appointment since it's literally right across the street from my neighborhood. There was a lady outside who I asked what time they opened and she said 8:00. So I came in and the lady from outside was now behind the counter. I believe her name was Cece. I asked if I could make an appointment for a surgery evaluation, and she said, "oh we don't make appointments in person, you have to call" I feel like she was either having a bad morning and I thought she was kinda rude so I just left. I went and got in my car and contemplated calling for an appointment or just finding a different spot because of the treatment I received. But all of a sudden, there she was standing at my passenger door telling me she could get me an appointment. Her entire attitude had changed and she became much more pleasant. She said the person that normally sets appointments was not there yet but she wanted to get me taken care of anyway. I don't know if the correct person wasn't there or if Cece WAS the correct person, and quite honestly, I didn't and I don't care. The fact that she did a course correction and changed up her entire demeanor to be very nice and friendly was amazing in my opinion and I appreciated it. She took what could have been a bad day and turned it into a great one. So far this has been my interaction here but I have my appointment today (why I checked in, lol) so I will let you know how it goes from here.

I paid a $25 copay and left work for this appointment. They had me come in 30 min early to fill out all of this paperwork just for the doctor to tell me she's going to order an exam for my other doctor to complete and that the exam was not for now but for in two weeks. Just in case it's needed/I'm still experiencing breast pain. When asked if Dr. Champagne could write a doctors note regarding taking an extended breaks to relieve my pain from the breast discussed in the appt. She said to follow up with Dr. Poku. I'm like what is your purpose then? because the breast exam, Dr. Poku could have done. I wasted an hour of my time leaving work just for her to defer everything back to my OB. As far as the callback option, you may or may not be called back. I suffer from severe chronic back and SI joint pain from an unhealed pelvic fracture, so sitting in the waiting room sometimes over an hour past my appointment time is ridiculous, I shouldn't have to take a dose of morphine to get through the waiting process. I have left a couple times because of unbearable pain. Front desk agents are rude and seem uncaring. When I come in for an infusion the room is never more than 1/2 full but wait time to even be acknowledged is way too long. Dr Batra doesn't seem to care about my extenuating circumstances. I have mantle cell lymphoma which is all the stress I can bear without what I have just described added to it. Mantle cell is an incurable and aggressive cancer so time precious.

The first surgeon was very nice, but I wasn't ready to hear that news, and wanted to verify. Dr. Perry agreed with the first assessment. I chose him based on several factors. First, he is a trauma surgeon, experienced in big, messy issues. He also has a great deal of experience in fixing complications from old orthopedic surgeries. He was recommended to me by a friend who had many hip replacement complications- that Dr. Perry repaired. Another reason that I chose him is that he showed me something on my imaging that everyone else missed. And it was important! I'm a retired nurse, and I think you pick the one who fixes the worst of the worst, just in case. Dr. P. Evangelista was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and explained what he would do, how it would help, and what the potential problems could be. I am 6 weeks out from my second replacement, and I couldn't be happier. I've had no complications. I am able to do a lot that I couldn't do when I first saw him. I am able to lift my grandkids, get down on the floor (and get up again), and I'm walking without a limp for the first time in a few years. I am so happy to have chosen Dr. P.Evangelista. I would highly recommend him. The staff has been very friendly to me. Front desk is very efficient and has been very pleasant/accomodating when I've called. Melissa, surgery scheduler, is great. The MA's and Xray people are always really sweet and fun. I'd give 10 stars if I could!

I came in with X-rays showing arthritis in both wrists. Before my appointments, I was told I'd likely see an NP since the doctors were busy -- I was fine with that going in. My first appointment with NP Bryce lasted under 5 minutes. He reviewed the X-rays and referred me out for a nerve conduction study (EMG). That process was its own ordeal: his office first sent me to a location that doesn't even perform EMGs. Once I flagged that, they referred me to another office with a wait time into 2027. I ended up finding and scheduling with a practice on my own that saw me within a week. At my second appointment, Bryce reviewed the EMG results (severe carpal tunnel in both hands) and told me surgery was my only option. When I explained I couldn't take the recovery time right now due to limited PTO and asked about alternatives, he literally offered none -- no PT, no splint, no topical, no discussion of a steroid injection (he scoffed when I brought it up myself), not even anything for inflammation. He also told me the surgery probably wouldn't relieve my pain or numbness, only prevent further damage -- meaning the one option he offered wasn't even going to help with what I came in for, pain relief. He is aware of my prior thoracic outlet syndrome diagnosis but wouldn't discuss it in relation to my hand symptoms. I am open to treatment but he literally has no ideas. Two rushed visits, a botched referral process, and a "solution" that admittedly won't help at all . I was open to seeing an NP, but Bryces's experience showed a real lack of clinical thoughtfulness and wisdom. Seeking a second opinion elsewhere.

Directly after the surgery, I was told there were no complications. I do still feel the screws they used to attach the mesh to my body cavity. They still cause me pain. It's 7 weeks post op and I was told they would dissolve and they definitely have not. I've gone in for a 3-4 post op appointments because they said it would be 2-3 days painful but it was more like 5-7 days of real core pain. The light duty and lifting limitations should be extended too. For any person, this is a big surgery. They try to say, "yeah people bounce back the next day..." well, that's not my experience. Kaelyn Garner has been great for questions post op too. I have another post op this Monday (11/13) so we'll see what she says about my recovery. Front desk receptionists (Janet?!) probably knows my phone number by heart because I was calling with questions from recovery, thank you. Update- 12/04/2023 When I went in for the surgery, they didn't tell me about the dissolvable screws. They said it would take about six weeks for them to dissolve, and they still have not. They caused me pain when I'm walking on my crutches as I am still nonweightbearing from my back to back surgeries, bending, during my period, or any little movement in my abdomen. I have a friend say that she didn't have to have screws put in her body after Dr Armini had to fix a hernia after my friend, Emma's hysterectomy. She was my reference for the doctor, but I don't understand why he did different procedures. I would definitely ask him about it prior to surgery. I was under the impression the mesh would just stick to my body cavity.

I came to him in one of the scariest, most uncertain times of my life. My condition was complex and I was filled with fear. From the moment I met Dr. Amini I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time -- hope. His calm, confident demeanor was matched by an incredible ability to explain what was going on, what needed to happen, and how we would tackle it together. I immediately knew I was in the best hands possible. The surgery (a Whipple procedure) itself was nothing short of miraculous. What others saw as a high-risk, complicated case, he approached with meticulous precision and unwavering confidence. He not only performed the operation flawlessly, but he did so with a level of care and foresight that I truly believe made all the difference in my outcome. The post-operative care I received was equally exceptional. Although, I weeks in the hospital Dr. Amini checked in constantly, listened to my concerns, and always made me feel heard and respected. This isn't just a surgeon who performs procedures -- this is someone who sees the whole person, who fights for their patients with everything he's got, and who genuinely cares. It's rare and remarkable. I will never forget it Thanks to Dr. Amini, I am here and alive. I get to work, achieve my goals, and live my life again. all because of his expertise, heart, and l unwavering commitment to his patients. If you are looking for a surgeon who specializes in pancreatic issues Dr. Amini is the best and someone who combines world-class medical excellence with amazing bedside manner. He is the absolute best -- a true hero in every sense of the word. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Dr. Amini gave me my life back. In addition, his staff is incredible!
