Dr. Albert Amini was my surgeon and recommended by a friend who recently had the same procedure. My first appointment he explained everything well in terms of it being a laparoscopic procedure using mesh and answered my questions. Directly after the surgery, I was told there were no complications. I do still feel the screws they used to attach the mesh to my body cavity. They still cause me pain. It's 7 weeks post op and I was told they would dissolve and they definitely have not. I've gone in for a 3-4 post op appointments because they said it would be 2-3 days painful but it was more like 5-7 days of real core pain. The light duty and lifting limitations should be extended too. For any person, this is a big surgery. They try to say, "yeah people bounce back the next day..." well, that's not my experience. Kaelyn Garner has been great for questions post op too. I have another post op this Monday (11/13) so we'll see what she says about my recovery. Front desk receptionists (Janet?!) probably knows my phone number by heart because I was calling with questions from recovery, thank you. Update- 12/04/2023 When I went in for the surgery, they didn't tell me about the dissolvable screws. They said it would take about six weeks for them to dissolve, and they still have not. They caused me pain when I'm walking on my crutches as I am still nonweightbearing from my back to back surgeries, bending, during my period, or any little movement in my abdomen. I have a friend say that she didn't have to have screws put in her body after Dr Armini had to fix a hernia after my friend, Emma's hysterectomy. She was my reference for the doctor, but I don't understand why he did different procedures. I would definitely ask him about it prior to surgery. I would post negative or zero stars if I could. The poster who said dealing with the surgeon here was like dealing with a used car salesman nailed it. I hope for their sake they were able to come out safe. My life has been endless suffering ever since I got conned into the worst nightmare of my life by the surgeon at this office. No one should ever go through what I went through. I wouldn't wish what happened to me on my worst enemy or someone I hated the most. Everyday I am scared to death I am going to die. I wanted to cancel the appointment and I wish MORE than anything I had canceled. I also wanted to cancel the day before my life was destroyed and if I had listened to myself I would have saved my life. When I woke up I never felt so horrible in all my life. I have cried every single day since this nightmare started. My body was destroyed and I will suffer for the rest of my life. I have been to endless doctors and surgeons after seeing this surgeon and they were disgusted and shocked by what happened to me. They could not understand why he hurt me so bad doing what he did and why he didn't explain what was really going on. They didn't understand why he didn't explain that I was fine and just sent me on my way like any great doctor would do. I would have paid this surgeon ANYTHING for the rest of my life to have him leave me alone and send me away. He is the doctor and he knows better. He should have been honest with me. I was fine and surgery would do more harm. His fake confidence was a mask for total incompetence and greed. The truth was I was really fine and didn't need any of it at all. He did everything his way. It didn't work at all and my body was destroyed. My body and health was destroyed for NOTHING and I was fine and didn't need surgery at all. If he was so right why was my body destroyed? He acts like a know it all when what he really knows is how to con people and destroy their health and lives. What good is all the great reviews when you could be the one to have your life destroyed like my life was destroyed? I should have stayed away the minute I saw any bad reviews and that was a HUGE MISTAKE. The appearance of the surgeon on Shark Tank shows you it all. This is an arrogant surgeon dealing with greed and delusions of grandeur at the expense of someone's life. Sadly patients like me will have their whole lives destroyed over it. I would have paid him EVERYTHING I could for the rest of my life for him to have told me I was fine and left me alone and sent me away. I was the patient and he was the doctor and he knew better. I hope I can protect people from what happened to me. I wish I had seen this post before I went to this surgeon because it would have saved my life. How would he feel if someone did to him or his loved ones what he did to me? Horrible on Shark Tank and horrible to a patient. Protect yourself and protect your life. Don't end up like me. Please review this post before proceeding with an appointment with Dr. Amini or his staff. My experience with him is very, very poor. Almost a year ago I had an open surgery done by Dr. Amini on a hernia in my groin. Since then, I've had nothing but a burning pain in the area of the surgery, and extending from there into other parts of my groin and leg. When trying to reach him for a follow up conversation, I found it was impossible to connect with the guy. The only way he would talk to me was if I arranged for my insurance to pay him for his time in a telehealth call. (Most doctors after a surgery will call you for a hello and check-in to make sure you are OK -- this office did not do that, despite repeated calls from me.) When I finally had that telehealth appointment about four to five months later, he told me the pain would be gone by May of this year. Since June (it's now August) I have tried to reach him again by phone, without luck. He has the worst healthcare staff I have ever run into, and they will not let you through to the doctor. They told me, "We're sorry, but we can not help you. You'll need to be imaged and then see a Pain Management doctor." I wrote up a letter with the concerns and mailed it to him. He received it and had a person call me to make an appointment. The day before the appointment they called to cancel it. This office is terrible, and when you look him up with the Arizona Medical Board you'll see that they've had to discipline Dr. Amini on another matter, requesting him to go for continuing education. I don't know about you, but if I were you I'd find a surgeon that doesn't require continuing education on running a medical office and dealing with customers. This guy's ego is so large that he's never going to follow up with a patient who experiences some issues with his work. He's completely blind to the fact that everyone can make a mistake, and when it happens he needs to be involved in its resolution. read more

Dr. Albert Amini is a total rockstar. He's the most impressive surgeon I've ever interacted with, hands down. Not only does he have a tremendous surgical record, he listens attentively and has the rare gift of being able to condense complex information into explanations that even we laypeople can digest. He was carefully deliberate and considerate even for my simple, routine surgery (appendectomy), so I cannot recommend him highly enough, if you or a loved one is ever in a complicated scenario requiring a thoughtful doctor who will be attentive and willing to take time to really *hear* you and establish a plan of action WITH you. Philip Pepple did my gallbladder removal, great surgeon! He's a straight shooter and tells it like it is. I did have a complication with healing (which had nothing to do with his work, just a hard area to heal) but he was very patient will all my questions and concerns I had. Answered everything. I suffered for over a year due to a terrible hernia surgery performed my Dr. Leeds. I was really excited when I read her bio, and even looked past her rude bed side manner, which I wish I would have decided to look for another doctor. After my surgery I continued to experience chronic pain, and she kept telling me to take ibprofuen. A year later it was discovered that she damaged my ilioinguinal nerve during surgery. Dr Amini was the right choice for my Inguinal Hernia repair. After extensive research and getting referrals from Doctors, family members and friends, I found Dr Amini by using Healthgrades and Yelp reviews. During my appointment Dr Amini took time to explain the robotic surgery procedure he would be using to repair my hernia. He made me feel confident enough to move forward. The surgery was done at Scottsdale Shea Hospital, and I couldn't have been more pleased with how I was treated by the medical staff. The Anesthesiologist was excellent, he made me feel very comfortable about the procedure. The nurses were great. He was the Quarterback. The result of the surgery was better that I anticipated. Finally had a diagnosis or gallbladder being bad, Dr Amini got me in the same day with his partner Dr Bradley Neuman, his staff was so efficient and personable with total empathy for my situation. Brittany and the others did everything they could to get me in. I was told after the appointment, on a Friday afternoon no less, that they would try their best to get me in for surgery ASAP. They completely met that commitment and had me in the hospital Monday morning for surgery. It is so awesome that a staff and Doctors follow through with commitments. Wonderful Experience / Great Outcome. Dr Amini is a patient focused Dr. Dr Amini was detailed and walked me through the diagnosis, testing and test results as well as the surgery that was to take place. I recently had robotic (partial gastroectomy) surgery performed by Dr. Amini. From the very first office visit to the post-op office visit, everything went extremely smooth.The office staff was very efficient, they scheduled PAT and surgery with the hospital in a timely fashion, etc. I did not feel like a forgotten patient. Surgery was very successful. I had very little pain, and a very speedy recovery. Dr. Amini is an AMAZING Surgeon! He truly cares for his patients and it shows in every way. Each and every Nurse that cared for me before, during and after Surgery had the greatest things to say about him. Dr. Amini is GREAT. I was in California last year on vacation and my Gallbladder blew. I had to get off Catalina Island and was sent to UCI Irvine where they did surgery New Years Eve. The surgeon told me after that she could not do it laparoscopically because of adhesions and so it was an open surgery. Even then she said she could only take part of the gallbladder as it was too infected to do much else. I had to have an ERCP the next day due to a bile leak they had to put a stent in. I kept having troubles after I was released and sent back home. My husband found Dr Amini because of his specialty. I was told in California they took most of the gallbladder but every CT scan that was done here showed a full gallbladder. I don't think they did anything but drain it. Dr. Amini took my case was very patient with me and when he did the surgery, he did it laparoscopically with 3 small incisions. He took down all the adhesions from my previous messed up surgery with Mayo and now UCI. Then he removed the gallbladder totally. He said i was 90% in tact. I am so happy surgery was a complete success and I am 2 weeks post op and I feel great have been walking 5 miles a day and ready to start playing tennis. You would be lucky to have a surgeon like Dr. Amini. He knows his stuff!! read more
