A month into his stay we discovered the place is run by relatives of the owner. a daughter who is never around, usually flying off to New York, but is suppose to be running the place, a son who shows up on occasion but is suppose to run the kitchen, Food is often sandwiches and an owner seldom there. The staff are fully aware they are not monitored and take advantage. Theft is rampant whenever Dad was out of his room in spite of always locking his door. Very little supervision of residents from staff instead letting recreation dept. babysit. How many times can he play bingo? Extra charges for many things such as Cable TV, and using washing machines, Laundry. . But, the owners wife wears several diamonds at once and drives a Mercedes car. When we learned medication ordered by the doctor had not been reordered for several months yet billed as though it had been given, We moved Dad to a more professional home.

Sad. That is all I can say about this failing facility. They are known amongst the area…read moreprofessionals as the "Walkie Talkie Facility." In other words if you can walk and talk, you are welcome, but once you have a hard time with mobility they do everything in their power to get you to leave, while charging you out the whazoo. And the worst part is they lie to the elderly and tell them that they have the special licenses to keep them until they die. Maybe they do, but they make sure you leave once you require any level of physical assistance. They also tout a 3 minute call response time, and yet, it was often 45 minutes. Then they claim the call system broke. Several times my mom had to crawl, yes crawl into the hallway and yell for help. Their call system is also easy to cheat. What I mean by that is that when a resident hits their call bracelet, the call goes to a pager. The problem is that the call can be dismissed from the pager, with no response from the staff. This makes it seem as though the staff is responding very quickly, when in fact they are ignoring the call. I watched it happen numerous times while visiting, and even pointed it out to management. Later when they kept neglecting my mother, and not responding she would eventually give up and try to get up on her own and would immediately fall. They refused to provide the call data claiming HIPPA concerns, and then claimed they don't even collect it! Which is ridiculous considering you can't report data (3 minutes response) if you don't actually collect data. Then because my mother would fall from their neglect (on average once or twice a month), they demanded we hire private sitters for 14 hours a day. This made her total cost of care go to $20,000 per month! And they said if she fell even once in the middle of the night they would require we pay for 24 hour sitters which would have made her cost be around $30,000 a month. Then let's talk about the food. It is truly disgusting. Maybe it's fine for the independent living side, but sadly they assisted living side has their food shipped up from the independent side, and re-plated. By the time they get it, it is cold or soggy with grease. My mom had diarrhea every time she ate. Then there is the theft. Clothes and bedding, and even her laundry basket were stolen from her room when she wasn't in there. Someone literally came in, dumped her clothes from her basket onto the floor of her bedroom and stole the basket! The staff never took the theft seriously. I am guessing more was stolen, but that is what she noticed. They supposedly have hall cameras, and should be able to see who the resident thief is, but just like calls for help, they ignore the residents when they voice concern. I want to be fair and state that SOME of the staff are kind, and genuinely try to do a good job, but they have horrible turnover because management is downright nasty. The good staff is often overworked and forced to work multiple overtime and over night shifts. Multiple times, when my mom was neglected, the ONE person on the whole floor would apologize and tell my mom they were so sorry but no one else showed up for work that evening. There are supposed to to 4-5 people on the floor at all times, and yet there is only one. Even during the day they are often short staffed. And because they choose to line their own pockets, rather than pay a livable wage, the quality of people they often get leave much to be desired, and sometimes are downright nasty to the residents. Plus, they barely have any activities for the assisted living people, and if they do, they make no effort to get them to there. If you love your parent, put them elsewhere . I'm actually glad we moved her. The new place has great food, tons of activities, a call system that can't be cheated (and they provide the data on request), and she is so much happier.

If your loved one is in need of assistance, do yourself and your family a favor and avoid this…read moreplace at all costs! Our 80 year old mother has dementia that is progressing and the sales job that we got during our site visit turned out the be the exact opposite in every imaginable scenario less than 6 months after we moved her in. The interaction, programs, personal care services, food services and day to day operations gradually declined and ultimately vanished when Eclipse (Elmcroft) took over. The Executive Director "Sheila Alliston" who goes by Shelia Kay on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sheila-kay-267151b3/) with a profile that boasts the following: Customer Loyalty is not about the transaction, it is about getting to know your CUSTOMER and THEIR needs. My life is committed to serving the clients.....Expertise Senior Living (Assisted Living/Independent Living and Memory Care). Successful with increasing revenue by 45% in 10 months. Increased occupancy from 87% to 100 % in 45 days and maintaining through 2014. FL ALFA "nomination" award for Executive Director of the year. Moving challenged properties to the next level by Valuing, Trusting, Empowering, Appreciating and Respecting through INTEGRITY. So.....within a few days of her arrival we were told we were told they had done an assessment on our mother and we needed to move her up into a higher level of care or move her out. When we asked Shelia questions, we were threatened with immediate eviction. When we pushed back we were then told there was no room in the higher level of care and we needed to leave immediately. When we questioned that, we suddenly received a lease with a $1200/month increase and were told this was our only option - take it or leave it. Clearly there was space available and this was simply a tactic to increase revenue and also create an opening in an entry level studio. We still have not received any details on "the assessment" that was done. Meanwhile, staff turnover is high and the replacements are unqualified - most likely to cut costs. Programs are being shut down, meal plans have also changed. We walk in and nothing is happening - ever. TV's in the common areas aren't even on. Staff is just sitting around and it's clear that Shelia was on her mission to live up to what she boasts on LinkedIn and drive the numbers up immediately but contrary to her profile, it's not in the best interest of the residents or families ("her CUSTOMERS"). The really sad part is that the residents and families of the elderly that need care and proper attention have all suffered. This has been extremely disappointing and we are perusing all of our options at this point to exit this corporate nightmare that has very little expertise in proper care for the elderly that are in need. We are also looking into an "accident" that our mother had while we were being pushed (literally bullied) into a higher level of care that was not properly documented (no report) and seems very opportunistic and predatory. To be continued...

When this facility was locally owned by Broadview everything seamed good and straight forward. Soon after we moved our Mother in to Broadview, Eclipse DBA Elmcroft bought out Broadview and this has been nothing more than a corporate take over looking for one thing and one thing only---INCREASE THE PROFITS and bottom line and do not care about your family number. Your family member becomes a number. Broadview originally assessed our Mother at their lowest level of care. Soon after Elmcroft/Eclipse bought the company the level of care assessment suddenly demanded an increase of care, our expenses rapidly increased but yet the level of care has not changed and has actually decreased. In December 2019, We (our family) were given an ultimatum by the Director of the facility, her name is Sheila, that we sign a new contract immediately to upgrade our Mother to the maximum level of care or Sheila, Elmcroft and their legal team were already working on a notice to move our Mother out of Elmcroft of Pensacola, had already contacted the State of Florida to force the move UNLESS we signed the new agreement. We have been bullied. Our family is furious. I (as POA) just signed a new agreement (contract) in November 2019. Now, a month later, we have to move up to the highest level of care (and expense). I have asked for copies of all of the assessments, I have asked for a copy of an internal report after conflicting reports by staff that landed our Mother in the hospital, I have asked for corporate contacts and have received nothing more than a push back from the Director at Elmcroft and her staff. Now all of the sudden, a month later and here we are at Christmas and Elmcroft's position is for us sign another new agreement, raise the revenue or move, NOW...Sheila has since been fired, the staff is depleting as the staff themselves see what is happening and who knows what is yet to come other than us, as a family, standing up against this corporation and filing suit for breach of contract and fraud. Please contact me. I don't mind sharing our experiences.
