Tom understood this and stayed in communication with me whenever I had a question or concern either via text or email. He updated me on new inventory with pictures and links. Answered follow up questions quickly. He even worked with me on delivery as I had issues reserving the freight elevator in my building. The delivery guys were professional, careful, and courteous. They assembled the pieces and discarded the trash. The furniture itself is amazing quality. I HIGHLY recommend anyone in the DFW area strongly consider DFO as an option for furnishing your home. I initially contacted them on Friday and Tom was very quick to respond to my email and talk me through some selections. I placed my order online a couple hours later and he had me scheduled for delivery Monday morning. Part of the reason their prices are so low is that they don't have a huge amount of inventory sitting in a showroom. This had me a little apprehensive since I wouldn't have a chance to try the chairs out first or see if I liked one of them in my house before buying 8. Tom offered to have his guys bring the chairs over, assemble one, and bring it in to see if I liked it. If I wasn't satisfied with how it looked in my dining room, he said he'd just take them all back, no problem. So that worked out great and put my mind at ease for the online purchase. The delivery process was also very smooth. They called in advance of heading over like Tom said they would, then assembled the chairs outside in the truck to avoid getting styrofoam bits all over my floor. I will definitely look to Dallas Furniture Online first for my future furniture needs.

But, boy, when that 1 out of 10 times hits, it's because I've found something really amazing at a fraction of the cost at the main store. For example, I paid thousands of dollars to the main store for furniture from the Tate Collection, and I found two more pieces to add to it at the outlet for around $200. This is high-quality, mid-century-modern furniture designed by this really awesome guy named Blake Tovin. The outlet's furniture might have minor wear and tear from being in a showroom or being returned by a customer. The sales staff ALWAYS points out any nicks or dings to me before I buy a piece. You can't return things to the outlet, so it's a demonstration of integrity that they want you to see what might be flawed, so that you aren't duped. Sometimes, however, there are absolutely no flaws, and you're buying something in perfect condition. I have been lucky in that regard. A bookshelf I bought had one scratch from where a sticker was stuck to it and had been scraped off. That scratch, still, would not have been discernible to me or someone walking by. Anyway, great sales staff and a great store for hunting for a bargain.

I ordered a living room of furniture three months ago from Crate and Barrel (Ali was my designer). The furniture was picked up a month ago (mid April) by Fragilepak - the company that Crate and Barrel uses to deliver the furniture. Since then, it's been a complete lack of communication. It's been a month since the furniture was picked up by the logistics company. And after 4 calls to the logistics company, they told me to have Crate and Barrel reach out to them to address the many issues with my order (damaged merchandise, lack of communication from Crate and Barrel) along with it just sitting in a warehouse for the last month. I've contacted Crate and Barrel multiple times over the past month (both via email and via phone). They've basically taken a hands' off stance and told me to deal with FragilePak. I'm absolutely livid with the crappy service from Ali and the team at Crate and Barrel. There is still no resolution as of today and nobody at Crate and Barrel is lifting a finger to fix this shit show.

I tracked the delivery online, and the site said it would be delivered at 7:16 pm. I stepped out of the house (into the yard) at 4:30, and apparently that is when they called. Since I didn't answer, they didn't bother to try to deliver or to call again. Today when I called to reschedule, they said that I had canceled the delivery. I had not; that was someone's CYA for failing to deliver my product. I asked for a refund. They replied only in merchandise credit. I will say the individual I spoke to did try to help and was lovely to deal with, but this company and/or their delivery service is terrible. Key takeaways: (reasons to NEVER purchase from West Elm and/or their sister companies) 1. When I ordered the chair, they didn't say it would be 2+ months for delivery. Only after they had my money did I get notice of that. 2. Their delivery company or their delivery tracking website is the worst. Either the fulfillment delivery company doesn't bother to update delivery times, or it is designed to be misleading. 3. They will actually say you canceled something that you didn't if they screw up. 4. Most importantly, your refund, if you want it, will only be in merchant credit. (At least that was the case for me.) I recognize this is a first-world problem, boo-hoo, my chair is taking too long to get here, and so on; HOWEVER, if you would like to buy a chair and have it delivered before the styles change, purchase from elsewhere. I see others have had the same issue. Buyer beware. Read all 1-star reviews of West Elm before you spend your hard-earned money. I'll be back if this isn't the most well-made chair in the history of chairs. As a typical human, if I like it, you won't hear from me about this topic again. Such a wide variety of stuff that is just fun. If you are looking for something quirky or out of the norm, this is the place for you.
