BUYER BEWARE! Use a State Bar of California CERTIFIED Specialist in Family Law. They take an extra bar exam specifically in Family Law. These guys are just attorneys who decided to practice Family Law. My experience with Azemika & Azemika was horrible. I personally met with Nicholas for my consultation and he shared stories of success in family law. I had a child custody matter that needed to be resolved. It was not complicated, but my child's mother was litigious. I felta bit confident because opposing counsel was not exclusively a family law attorney, he was a one-man law firm that did a little bit of everything in regards areas of specialty. During the court hearing, the opposing counsel (attorney) easily outmaneuver Nicolas' oral arguments in front of the judge. It was like Azemika & Azemika are family law attorneys in general, but don't have the ability to handle above-average skilled attorneys that push back against them. They didn't even object when the other attorney made absurd claims. ***I literally ended up with significantly less custody as a result of Azemika & Azemika's failures. After burning through my money throughout the months, they would not take phone calls unless payments were made in full. I was a college student at the time and needed to make payments after a certain point, but they refused this option. After not being able to pay for an full retainer fee again (they wouldn't accept payments, they filed a motion with the court to drop me as a client. I absolutely regret using them to represent me. I eventually got a different attorney who immediately got me full custody (which is unusual for a man to get) and eventually a court order that allowed me to move out of Kern County with my son. read more

Although the initial partnership started off leaving me feeling like I was in good hands that soon changed when I realized my case was very low priority and many details were being overlooked and ignored. One of the craziest phone calls I've ever had with a law firm. I called to get a consultation and they said it's $200 for 30 minutes which is fine but told me I have to pay with cash. I told them I wanted to pay with a debit card and they said if I pay with debit card, it's $250. Seems pretty sketchy to me. read more

After paying for the initial interview I was directed to a room where I met Mr. Azemika. I expected a handshake or at least some type of greeting but I received neither. If I could rate with negative stars I would. Unfortunately, after already paying my retainer, Nick's confidence & professionalism completely changed. All of a sudden, when he enters the courtroom, he loses all control. In his office he assures you of everything but once up against another attorney, you can see & smell the fear. It's a terrible place to be in when you're fighting for your life during a divorce, & as for witnesses there, it's very embarrassing. According to a room full of women one night, while bringing his name up as they worked for different attorneys, I was assured "all he's working on is trying to get you ______. That's when you'll see progress." I was told to fire him, hire ANYbody else and/or complain to the board! One got him on video acting nervously & sweating profusely after court proceedings. I continued with him as I couldn't afford to lose my money & assumed he might do better? Maybe just his strategy? Maybe he would eventually get it together? It didn't happen, not even a little! My ex had an amazing attorney who had no self esteem issues, very confident & was able to impress the judge! So now, three or so years after that gut wrenching debacle, I continue to hear horror stories, mostly women after retaining him. I found out he lost his OWN divorce case. His ex took his $$ and friends to Hawaii (could've been another island) after emptying the house of everything. Many of us were able to see firsthand how he must've passed school with a D- possibly? Definitely not top of his class. Of my 40 years of life, that was the worst experience I'd ever had & the worst mistake I'd ever made! Allowing Azemika to swindle me out of my money was worse than my marriage & divorce and that's saying a lot. If there's any other way I can get the word out about this unprofessional mess of a "lawyer" I will do so. He should have his license revoked or at the very least be required to repeat law school. After witnessing his courtroom behavior, I really should have said & done more about it. I was in such a bad situation & even worse now that he's clearly unable to win against the opposing professionals. My ex was smirking the whole time as it was clear which one of us had hired a winner who knew his job! Nick would stare at his papers & stutter his way through his response. It was painful to watch. When you're told by your atty that he'll fight for you & don't see it happening, I urge you to say something right then & there, in front of the judge! Don't ever feel you have to put up with it, like I did. Going through everything, I didn't have it in me to fight but was told he was fighting for me, instead he was fighting to not fall apart in front of the opposing party. I think he has a fear of public speaking. Not his fault although he's in the wrong profession. Save yourself the time, money, mental health & the overall embarrassment. -500 stars. Also, they seem to respond to negative comments on here with excuses. Making it out to be something that's not their fault or claiming they weren't clients. I promise that I WAS indeed a client as unfortunate as it is to admit! One commenter revealed an ongoing office affair with the husband she was divorcing & the receptionist who was not fired. If I could rate this law office with less than one star I would. Tony Azemika is highly over rated with one star! He was the absolute WORST. He failed to give opposing lawyer some required paperwork that was supposed to be done within thirty days. When the lawyer had to send more than one request for the papers Mr Azemika lied and claimed that I had failed to complete them on time. When I asked him why he lied he had the nerve to yell at me! But based on his high approval rating I still believed he would help me. He was NEVER prepared and it was obvious he never even opened my file until the day of a meeting or court appearance! I lost the case in court and he promised he would fix it. He never fixed anything! He got angry at me for being honest and at one point screamed at me that," Everyone lies in court! Perjury is nothing. No one tells the truth!" He charged me for work he didn't complete and I signed papers that I told him I was signing under extreme duress. I didn't understand a word in those papers! Tony just wanted to be done with me. RUN. This man is evil. I am surprised he is still in practice and getting high marks. I should have reported him to the bar for his conduct but I had survived domestic violence and my confidence was lacking. He played on that. Do not be fooled by his charm. read more

I am in the process of completing a custody agreement and it was all done through Nick Azemika, I can not say enough good things about Nick. We love Nick, he is very professional and quite honestly he was straightforward with everything. My husband and I had been fighting for custody of my stepdaughter from the time she was born up until now, she is 14 and throughout the custody process in the past we always got the shitty end of the stick. When we first spoke to Nick he was very honest and really laid out all the cards, he let us know worst case scenario and made it very clear what his opinion was in our case. As I said it had been years of going to court, every few years to revise visitation and we always had gotten the bare minimum visitation time. My husband is a hard working father, in the past my stepdaughter's mom made him look like a deadbeat and if you knew my husband, you'd know he is the farthest thing from it. He has a huge heart and it was just unfortunate to have even gone through everything he and our family went through in the past. It was great to have someone really listen to our story and it was because of this and the way Nick presented our case that we finally have full custody. The other party was served, which by the way would always fight us on everything no matter what and after her seeing our case against her she decided not to fight it, she just gave up custody. Keep in mind this has been years and years of misery, fighting this woman all to simply be in my stepdaughter's life and make sure she was in a good environment. In the past with previous lawyers we would never have anyone fully listen to us, they would say what they thought we wanted to hear and take our money. Finally after all of these years of fighting we have what we have been fighting for, it feels unreal but we are so happy and blessed because it feels like finally justice is being served in this matter. The mother was abusive and controlling so to finally free our stepdaughter from this, I can't even express in words how much Nick has changed our lives. We finally have our family together and safe, and it is all thanks to Nick. We are forever grateful for everything Nick has done and we are so happy we decided to go with Azemika & Azemika.
