Full disclosure - I was not in the court room as I reside 1,800 miles from Bakersfield. But I personally selected Underwood Law as our representation based on a lengthy and very positive conversation I initially had with Mr. Underwood. Full details were disclosed and his response was extremely optimistic. We moved forward at the tune of $6,000. The optimism remained steadfast throughout all preparatory conversations with the paralegal making it known that she had never lost a case. On the day of our hearing Mr. Underwood suddenly stated to family that was in attendance that we could easily lose this case. We've no idea what caused this turnaround. Perhaps learning who the sitting judge was, perhaps having read the defendant's statement (we've yet to see this), we do not know. The case was lost in a matter of minutes. Back to Mr. Underwood's call regarding my review - we talked. He felt that I had been misinformed and he said he was going to put together a cover letter outlining the sequence of events, a copy of the petition that was filed on our behalf and finally a copy of the defendant's written response. He asked for a couple of days. In all fairness to Underwood Law, I removed my review pending his side of the story. Ten days later, having heard nothing, I inquired as to the disposition of said documentation. I was told that Ms. Medina was going to prepare the file and mail it out. That was 13 days ago and still crickets. It's a puzzling operation they run. Again - just my experience and my opinion. Dissatisfaction with the service of Underwood Law seems even more reasonable at this point.

If I could give zero stars I would. Imagine someone charging you $15,000 to get the same plea deal…read moreof 4 years in prison as the court appointed attorney did. From the get go before retaining her she said 4 years in prison was way too much for my incarcerated loved one and that if I hired her she would make sure he did no more than 2 years in county, she boasted about how knowledgeable she was and what her success rate was and that even if it made it to trial it was in the bag, she claimed she would get him out on bail within a few weeks. She has been retained for 4 months she didn't do anything she said she would, she never showed up prepared for court not once she always had to leave and come back, at one point she even blocked my number and didn't unblock me until I called her out on it. 4 months in he is still incarcerated with no bail and she has stated that taking the 4 years in prison would be in his best interest because she refuses to represent him for trial even tho he is an innocent man and that he would have to go back to the court appointed attorney or hire a new attorney if he wanted to go to trial, so basically trying to coerce and pursued him to plead guilty and go to prison or else hire another attorney when all of his money already went to hiring her. She provided inadequate attempts to fight for his freedom and and I was actually able to video her conversation with the DA in the hallway about my loved one because she was that oblivious to the fact i was behind her watching her, she helped the DA to send him to prison causing a conflict of interest which i will be making known with the video. She by all means should be reprimanded for her misrepresentation after taking his money to represent him and then helping the DA get a conviction and I won't stop until some kind of justice is served against her. She claimed to be very knowledgeable and fight for what's right but with every phone call recording from start to finish I have of our conversations as well as the 2 videos I have of her conversations with the DA about prosecuting him it's obvious how crooked and corrupt she is.
