    Raspberry Ice Cream
    Art C.

A refreshing end to a long day We stopped in at Aida for something to top off a long day at being a tourist. Of all the bakery items on display, I instead went for the also inviting looking raspberry ice cream. It was refreshing, not sweet but true to the berry flavor. The person who helped us was pleasant and I liked the appearance of the brightly colored place.

So we wanted to have some desserts and this cafe was right not far from where we were. It looks big, the selection of desserts is super great, location is great too as it's across the street from the Opera house. But that's about it. The rest was not good. We wanted to sit outside, didn't know where exactly to sit, there were no signs of waiters, got inside, asked if we could sit outside, a cashier said ask the waitress , all of the waitresses were running back and forth, probably because they were super busy, I guess, although the cage inside was not full. So we finally found a waitress , who upriplu ubrubtly told us sit where ever we wanted to. So we sat outside, waited for god knows how long, nobody came to us to take an order, so my husband went inside to find a waitress. So he got a waitress, she took our order, there were 4 of us, we all ordered different things. It took forever to bring our order, and on top of that she forgot to bring one order all together. So as to the desserts, we didn't like any of them: we took strudel, and 3 different slices of cakes. They are all way too sweet, didn't enjoy them at all. Definitely not worth going there.

We waited in the takeout line for about 15 minutes and ate the best Kaiserschmarrn ever! Something I didn't even know existed until visiting Vienna. Highly recommend checking out this spot!

I ordered my usual Kaiserschmarrn and a drink. I had noticed that the table next to me had a drink that looked good, so when the waitress took my order, I specifically told her that I wanted the same drink the table next to me was having. When my order arrived, it was brought by a different waitress. The drink looked completely different from what I had pointed to, so I asked her what it was. She told me it was a double espresso. I explained that I had not ordered a double espresso and again pointed to the drink at the table next to me, which was clearly a hot chocolate. The waitress then called over the waitress who had originally taken my order. Instead of simply acknowledging that there had been a misunderstanding, she insisted, "That's what you ordered." When I explained again that it wasn't, she told me, "It's the same thing." A **double espresso and a hot chocolate are obviously not the same thing.** What bothered me even more than the incorrect order was the way both waitresses spoke to me. Their attitudes and tone were extremely rude, dismissive, and demeaning--as though I was stupid for pointing out the obvious mistake. The interaction became uncomfortable enough that people sitting at other tables were looking over at us. To make matters worse, my Kaiserschmarrn was **cold**. It tasted as though it had already been sitting out for some time before it was brought to my table. I understand that mistakes happen. Had they simply apologized for the misunderstanding and corrected the drink, I would not have had an issue. Instead, I was argued with and spoken down to over something that could have been resolved in seconds. This was genuinely one of the worst customer-service experiences I have ever had at a restaurant, and certainly not what I expected from an establishment with Demel's reputation. After several previous visits that I enjoyed, it is extremely disappointing to say that I will not return and will no longer recommend Demel to my friends.

The restaurant is located in a round glass building. We entered and got seated immediately. It is a good spot for watching people and traffic outside, as the walls are all windows and it is located on a sort of corner between 2 semi-converging streets. They had a varied menu which included burgers, Asian soup, breakfast all day, etc. I got a salad which I enjoyed. I think both of the others got noodle soups which they also seemed to like. Service was good and prices seemed in-line with other local places. After lunch, there were convenient trams across the street to get us back to the vicinity of the Hofburg. I'd consider returning here for a meal if we were in the area.

The pasta however lacked flavor and needed more salt. For dessert I got their House Tort and my daughter got a strawberry tart. My daughter's tart was probably the best strawberry tart I've ever eaten. The strawberries were perfectly ripe and the vanilla cream inside and the crust all balanced perfectly. My chocolate tort was pretty good but not amazing like my daughter's. The room we sat is was lovely with ornate ceilings and beautiful chandeliers. We didn't have a reservation so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, and this was at 2:15 in the afternoon. Our server was very attentive. I'd return and get the strawberry tart!

Everything looks gorgeous and breathtakingly beautiful, BUT the taste is not there. It is overall too sweet. The pistacchio dacquoise has benzaldehyde flavoring which I detest. The cream was real pistachio but was pretty heavy and sweet - didn't sit well with me. The Ribisel-Cremeschnitte was good, tart and sweet, but still, the cream too heavy. The vanilla cake was heavy and sweet. I mean heavy regarding double fat cream, the mouthfeel is light but you feel the fat content afterwards. Breakfast was ok - a slice of bread and brioche with jam (a little off tasting) and spread. Breakfast with coffee and pastry was 20€ which in my mind is too expensive for what it is. I wouldn't complain if the taste is as amazing as the looks. I really had high hopes for this place.
