So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Actually I can exit my cool apartment building, turn left, and just keep walking straight even when the street changes its name in one block - and arrive at Laurenz in ten minutes. Laurenz looks great - outside & inside. Many clever beer sayings adorn the walls outside and you even find a few funny ones inside. There is a bar and a couple of dining areas. You can eat & drink where you choose. Since they make their own beer here, let's start with that. The beer is great! I had a Vienna Red beer here that tasted fresh and nicely balanced with hops & malt. The soup I ordered was the Beer Cheese Soup which was so good I could have eaten a whole pot of it. I loved how there were still chunks of melted cheese residing in its delicious broth. An Austrian soft pretzel nicely accompanied this offering. My main course was also tremendous. - a delicious pumpkin Flammküchen with Creme Fraiche, caramelized onions, Grana Padano, and Austrian pumpkin seed oil.
