Soup of the day: cream of carrot. Delicious.
    Louisa M.

We arrived in Vienna on a Sunday afternoon and we were both tired and starving and, in case you didn't know, not much is open in the city on a Sunday! Growing increasingly desperate, I nearly jumped for joy when I saw this restaurant and confirmed that yes, it was indeed open for business! We were seated by a generally unhelpful and mildly unwelcoming host and taken to a nice table in the back of the restaurant. The menus were small but had plenty of appetizing choices for even the pickiest of diners, from salads to beef to salmon and desserts. The menus were in German with English translations which was so helpful for those international visitors not well versed in other languages. I decided on the cheesy spaetzle and soup of the day (cream of carrot) while hubby ordered the sauerbraten with roasted potatoes. The soup tasted fresh and vibrant, topped with sprouts and served piping hot. The spaetzle (vegetarian) was crazy good, but it's basically the equivalent of mac and cheese so it's hard no to love it. It came topped with chopped chives and a mountain of fried onions. The sauerbraten had a delicious gravy and a quality cut of meat that was pounded thin (and again, topped with a mountain of fried onions). The chopped and fried potatoes were the star of the dish, though. I could've eaten my weight in them. While not inexpensive, the food was hearty and very good. The portion sizes were large (which my rumbly tumbly greatly appreciated) and the presentation was top notch. There's obviously a real chef in the kitchen here. Everything was perfectly seasoned and tasted great. Service was aloof but efficient and as with all restaurants in Europe, the waitstaff will leave you alone until you decide you're ready to leave. Remember: if you need something, including your check, it's up to you to flag them down.

This was near our pension just off grabben so we thought we would try it. The outdoor area is very nice as is the indoor restaurant where we sat. My wife went with the schnitzel which was plentiful, non greasy and very tasty. I had a nicely grilled salmon which came with horseradish/mashed potatoes and beets. It was a perfect blend of flavors. The apple strudel was pure Vienna and was nice and warm Nice meal, good service and a good spot in the center of town

    Schnitzel with potato salad, delicious!

We were looking for a place to get classic schnitzel near the city center, and Wienerin was perfect! There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, depending on your preference and whether or not you smoke. The schnitzel is perfectly cooked, with great texture and a huge portion, served with a tasty potato salad dressed with vinaigrette on the side. This was our first meal in Vienna and we were happy to have a great start.

Was hoping for more from this place after reading such high reviews. Stopped in last weekend for a late lunch. The waitstaff was not overly helpful or friendly but we eventually got an open seat. They did have English menus though which is always a plus. Started the meal with potato cream soup which was very tasty. Then moved on to a veal meatloaf with mashed potatoes which looked so good... but was a let down. The meatballs had huge chucks of bread in them which was not very good. The potatoes had clearly been over cooked and so the mashed potatoes were gluey. My mom ordered a chicken salad which she enjoyed. Disappointed with the executive of cooking on my meal but would definitely go back to try the food again on a less busy day - might have caught them on an off day.

Pleasantly surprised, open late even on Sundays. Prices were very reasonable and the food was modern and good. It didn't seem very Austrian, but the food and service was very good. The chicken salad was really good, light, refreshing. The chicken was a bit dry and salty but that's fine, it worked with the salad and dressing. The salmon was good, the mashed potatoes were a bit strange thought. It was wasabi flavored which is very peculiar. The plating was very pretty. The nougat dumplings were delicious and had chocolate/nutella in them. The batter was slightly tangy though which was strange and the more you ate of it, the less appetizing it was. The raspberry creme brûlée was solid, a bit small though. The apple strudel was fresh, delicious, thin crust and not too sweet. It had raisins and cinnamon in them which was nice.

Fast service and good food. Had the soup of the day, chicken salad, and salmon and prawns. All very good. All came out fast. The dessert was Viennese apple strudel. I was so much looking forward to it. But this was disappointing. But the other dishes, and a server that look like Kit Harrington, made up for it.

We stumbled upon this place tonight as we were wandering through the area, and after a quick review of the menu outside (it's so helpful when they do that), we decided to try it. My first impression was that it's geared towards a younger and more hip crowd (much younger and hip than we are, anyway), and because you enter through the rather smoky bar area, I was a bit put off. But we saw there was a dining area beyond, separated by glass doors, so hoped the smoke was confined to the bar. This proved true and we were given a nice table. I had the grilled chicken breast salad with a delicious honey lemon dressing, and the hubs had cheese spaetzle with a small side salad. Both were very tasty. After having their wonderful and hot apple strudel for dessert, we decided this was the best meal so far for our trip. The servers were super prompt and efficient and the prices were very reasonable. We loved this place.

My husband and I had dinner here yesterday and we each had a wonderful meal. Their pork snitzel was delicious and my salad with sirloin strips of steak was impeccable. One of my favorite salads I have ever tasted. I had the Apple strudel and it was very authentically Austrian. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic Grilled Halloumi Salad - amazing, the best I have ever had.

Wienerin Restaurant & Bar, located just outside of St. Peter's church, is slightly out of the way, or better stated "off the beaten path". It is easy to understand why the patio was completely filled as the weather was perfect. Only those with reservations were fortunate enough to sit outside mind you this can be a blessing for non-smokers. My experience is that most often the patios are filled with those who don't mind a face full of smoke while eating. We were quite happy to be seated inside and were asked if we preferred "Smoking or Non-smoking"; happy to state our preference we sat in non-smoking, only to learn that the glass sliding door separating the smokers from the non was broken. While this would not have been a problem on such a wonderful evening as this was (smokers wishing to be outside), the patio was filled resulting a fairly full "smokers section" as well. The negative effects of the broken sliding door became quite noticeable as the inside of the restaurant filled. The food ordered at our table of five: 3 X Pork Schnitzel, 1 X Veal Schnitzel, and 1 X Goulash, plus I ordered a Grilled Halloumi Salad, as I wanted the others to experience the wonderful taste and texture of this little known cheese. The salad was amazing, wonderful toasted pine nuts greatly accented the mild semi-tough texture of the halloumi, while the balsamic dressing enhanced the flavors of the complete dish. The schnitzels were very thinly pounded, but perfectly cooked while the report on the goulash was that it was both flavorful and tender. The service was slowish but that was fine as we were not in a hurry, and in fairness, the place was very busy considering only a couple of people serving a very filled patio/restaurant. The kitchen staff were viewable from our seats and seemed to be working at double speed. While I will not say that your trip to Vienna is not complete without stopping here, it was a wonderful find. If you are looking for a traditional meal with a modern twist that is very well cooked and presented at a reasonable price, I would highly recommend Wienerin...don't miss the Grilled Halloumi Salad - the best I have ever tasted.

We came around 6 for dinner and drinks and sat outside. It's right next to St Peters so the area is nice and open and great for people watching. I ordered the goulash, and my brother had the pork schnitzel. Both were very hearty and satisfying but not out of this world. Would come back for a decent meal in a nice setting.

    Loved this place!

Found this cozy spot a few blocks off the Stadtpark and figured I'd give it a shot. So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.

*******READ FINE PRINT ON MENU*********…read more I have issues with this place. My review will not change the trajectory of how this place operates. However, it is unlike any place in the world I have ever visited. We were seated at a table that was meant for 6 people and got taken down to two people as there was another couple sitting there. The place for lunch was absolutely slammed, so it is obviously a popular spot. Without asking, they drop bread off at the table. With a place of this atmosphere it was expected, as this is what I would expect out of a finer food establishment. The schnitzel was very light and had plenty of flavor. No other sides came with the schnitzel so I had the potato salad which was good, but different. The beef stroganoff did have an immense amount of flavor. They lacked the very small amount of noodles that are given with this dish. The fastest uninterrupted service we got was when I waited and finally asked for the check. They were quick to give me a dessert/after food drink menu. They were quick to be on top of me to see if I wanted anything. I declined and paid the bill. What I will tell you is, that is completely OUTRAGEOUS is the charge listed as 2 - Gedeck. A quick review told me that it is a "Cover Charge" at a euro rate of 4.90 per person. A further Google review told me that it is also because they placed bread on the table (I do not know what is factual). Regardless of whatever the charge is or whatever they want to call it, I have never ever ever paid a "Cover Charge/Gedek" charge to occupy a restaurant. If this was a late night spot that I decided to pop bottles at or had "dancers" at the business, I could get there, but for a sit down lunch, what a complete utter rip off. This in itself would cause me never to return to this establishment. Make sure if you eat here, that you read the fine print or look at my pictures. They have very small print that notifies the consumer of them charging cover charge as well as what they charge for sharing of some dishes. All I can say is be mindful and do not be taken back like we were when the bill comes.
