We kept seeing the little buggers (pun intended) on the walls and finding small mounds of wood dust on my computer desk. We initially tried a mail order do-it-yourself pest control subscription, which the ants laughed at. Then the colder months hit, and the ants seemed to go dormant. When the 2nd spring rolled around we decided enough was enough, and shopped around for a pest control service. We selected Benjamin's "Pest Ref", and I wish we had just swallowed our pride during year one and went with him initially. Benjamin was wonderful. He inspected our home, put my wife's mind at ease that we DIDN'T have to worry about termites (as ants and termites are mortal enemies), and recommended a plan for getting rid of our ant problem. We found his rates to be extremely reasonable, even beating out the prices of the nation-wide pest control companies. He treated the house and let us know to expect more pest visibility at first (as they were being killed/driven out). He came back out 2 weeks later for a follow-up treatment, and I haven't seen a single ant since then! Benjamin was professional, sociable, and a complete pleasure to work with. He has followed up with us via telephone to ensure that the bugs have stayed away, and they have. We plan to remain with Pest Ref for as long as we own our home, and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking to give freeloading bugs the boot!

That changed with our most recent visit. The technician who had been servicing our home since day one was usually in and out in less than 15 minutes. We later learned that she was no longer with the company, and this time we were assigned a different technician, Skyler. The difference was immediately noticeable. Skyler spent nearly twice as much time treating our home, and it quickly became clear why we had continued to see bugs despite being on a regular service plan. In fact, we had canceled our last appointment because we were questioning whether to continue paying for a service we weren't happy with. However, we decided to reschedule and give them one last chance, and we are so glad we did. We were pleasantly surprised when Skyler arrived instead of our usual technician. Skyler's visit helped us realize that the issue was never Standley Pest Control itself. Every interaction we had with the office was timely, professional, and courteous. Ultimately, the real issue was that we hadn't yet experienced the level of service the company is capable of providing. He took his time, was thorough, and made us feel confident that the job was being done properly. His professionalism, attention to detail, and willingness to do the job right showed us the level of service we had been hoping for all along. More importantly, he completely changed our perception of the company. We were seriously questioning whether to continue the service, but after Skyler's visit, we felt reassured that we had made the right decision to stay with this company. Came to treat for ants issue, guarantee for 90 days. Been back a few times now but a few no shows…read moreafter scheduling. Wouldn't recommend I am updating my review to say they did a good job when they came but the issue wasn't resolved and the complaint mainly centers on the no show 3 times. My time is just as valuable and I had to reschedule others those 3 times. So, I don't do business with a company that can't be considerate in their scheduling.

I spoke with Tiffany several times and mentioned to her that my yard was not looking any better at all after several months. She said to wait until Spring, 2025, when it should look better. By Spring,2025, the yard looked worse than ever. I spent 30 minutes to an hour every morning pulling weeds that should have been taken care of by their "service". I mentioned this to "Jesus" each time he came out. He told me to stop pulling the weeds and he would make an extra trip to just focus on the weeds. The service showed up a week early in May, 2025, when they were scheduled for the first week in June. 2025. I thought it was strange, but ok. I paid for that early visit. They then showed up a MONTH early- July 3rd, when they weren't supposed to show up until August 1st. I work at home and am constantly on the phone. Before I could get out in the yard, they had walked around the yard and sprayed FOUR weeds. Yes, FOUR weeds in the entire yard. He then walked around with a hand "sifter" and dropped a few granules around a few places in the yard...not even in the entire yard. After I could get off the phone, I ran out to the yard and asked him why he was here a month early. He said "The other guy was let go because he didn't know what he was doing". He then proceeded to hand me another bill for 162.00! I called Soil Wizards immediately and spoke with "Tiffany". I told her that under no circumstances is Soil Wizards to use my card for this "service". She said OK. I checked two days later, and yes, they had used my card for the unauthorized transaction. I called Soil Wizards and spoke with a rude woman, Roxanne. She said "Well, the yard is not supposed to get green when we fertilize it!" Wow! I told her that I did not authorize the charge and that they had shown up a month early. She said she would have to "speak with her boss and he will call you". He never called. This has to be one of the most dishonest companies I've dealt with since moving to the Ocala area. Their service is inferior. They have no idea what they are doing and they used my card after I told them not to. I had to dispute the charge on my card. This turned out to be a very time consuming ordeal with the disreputable and incompetent group of people. Do not use this company.
