They diagnosed the problem to a minor shift handle cable issue and not a transmission repair. Very grateful for their honesty and trusted them for the repair and saved me a lot of money. I am still living with a massive rear seal leak after they tried 3 times to fix my flex plate issue on my 1st gen Dodge W250. Truck always came back dirty and problem recurred only to be "upgraded" each time. After the third time the rear seal was done. It never leaked before. They also ruined my mercedes after a full bench rebuild and even taking it out themselves to try and remedy the problem. They called in the old owner and he got it close, but it shifted so hard it chirped the tires. I was told that was normal and the tech got very standoffish and even childish when I confronted him and insisted on another test drive. The owners know jack about transmissions and rely on their tech to tell them what is wrong. It is a shit show. They even backed into my car with their service truck and sent it to a guy who used different color lens. I just lost heart and sold the car. There are plenty of shops, I would not go back there if it was free. read more

Nippon refer me to B&K. Had my transmission rebuilt on my 2010 4Runner. Took 4 weeks, but their lot is packed for a reason ( they're just that damn good). My car is running smoothly, drives faster. I feel good about the results. Had an issue with my drivers side window control and they fixed that free of charge and when my car was ready it was washed. If I have any other major problem, will definitely go there. They have stellar customer service, they exude positive energy and realness. read more

Took my bench transmission in for a rebuild, when I got it back it was still slipping took my whole truck in this time and got it back again and it still slipping in first gear and the O/D light is blinking. So i took it back again and they said they can't find anything wrong with the transmission, but my truck is misfiring and that's causing the issue. When i got home I popped the hood and saw that they were missing around the engine bay and my truck being over 20 years old I saw broken heat wire covers I ran my codes and injector 4 was not working, again because they were poking around were they should have not been. So, I reconnected the injector. Needless to say, this is why mechanics get a bad name and a truck misfiring has nothing to do with a slipping transmission. Dealer said they don't have replacement transmission but recommended B&K to fix my 2007 VW Touareg gear slipping problem. B&K asked $5K and 3 weeks to rebuild the transmission, and promised 3 years warranty. It took 5 weeks to complete, and no warranty. And wheel was crooked, misaligned. Car was still slipping after first shift. They said related to other issue which they can't fix. I took it to another shop to fix vacuum leak issue but still first gear shift is not that smooth. And I paid $1.5K just for the alignment to the other shop that B&K messed it up. They should have at least gave me the car wheel aligned. Not happy to pay something extra that they are responsible. I didn't bring the car misaligned in the beginning, why should I pay for it? I was expecting the car to be fixed completely (not to go another shop to fix again) and drivable (not misaligned) after waiting 5 weeks and paying $5K. Not nice. read more

I seldom post any reviews but felt this business deserved one. They are, Honest, dependable and knowledgeable. I own a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer 2 wheel drive. Was pulling out of grocery store parking lot and when I accelerated the Transmission jumped out of gear and the RPM's went way up, within a few seconds it dropped back into gear and the back tires grabbed the pavement and squawked. Then it ran fine for a few days and did it again. Then an odd notification came up on my dashboard, it was just a picture of a tool with no other information. When it did this the car would not move forward in drive or move in reverse. First thing I think is Transmission going out. I took it to B&K on 22nd street. They had worked on 1 other of my cars a long time ago. Jim in the office was very friendly and set me up an appointment. Brought it in and talked to Bill who also was very friendly and professional. Bill ended up spending the extra time needed to diagnose the problem. It was a very strange thing the car was doing. Bill thought that something else was wrong other than the transmission. He contacted me and advised, he wanted to send it over to a general auto repair business for check. Ended up being a couple borderline Plugs and a bad coil pack that was intermittently malfunctioning causing a misfire that was effecting the computer so it was sending information that controlled the transmission. The shop repaired the problem and billed me very reasonably. Bottom line is B&K could have easily told me that there was a transmission problem and really cost me a lot. If you need a fair and honest transmission shop you will not find better than this place. I really would give them 10 stars if possible. They really treat customers right! Terry read more

I took an older Dodge van in for what felt like slow shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. They took care of it and said it was only a spring! No charge because they didn't have to "fix" anything. I told them I would be happy to pay for the spring and their time and they said to just come back when I had a real problem! I was thrilled with the way they treated me and my old van! I told Jim at B & K I'd write a Yelp review, so here ya go. They diagnosed and fixed the problem on my transmission. Didn't require a rebuild or even opening up the trannie--it was an electrical problem (a missing relay.) They coulda charged a lot, but the bill was only $114. They get 5 stars for honesty. BBB gives them A+, because they never have complaints. A local business that's been in the same place (22nd just west of Craycroft on the north side of the street) for at least 20 years. I have a '95 Volkwagen Eurovan camper with a 5 speed manual transmission. While returning to Tucson from Texas, I suddenly lost most of my gears (only 3rd and 4th gears worked) so I was expecting the worst! I took my van first to Fair & Honest Transmission Repair in Tucson, and they were very nice but told me that they don't work on VW's and they recommended that I go to Little Germany. So then I went to Little Germany and they too were super nice but also said they don't work on transmissions, but when they do have a vehicle that needs transmission work, they take it to B&K so that's how I ended up here! And I am sooooo happy I ended up here!!! These guys were super busy so I had to make an appointment 2 days out. In less than 5 minutes, they found the root cause of my problem and it was a simple fix for them! These guys are incredibly nice and honest! It would have been easy for them to say I needed a new transmission and charge me a lot of money and I would have not questioned it with only 2 gears working!
