It's been a while since I posted a review, but I affirm my '4' rating. The burgers are consistently good, and with everything pretty much made to order, it's fresh and tasty. We tend to hit the drive thru when we need a quick meal. There is usually a line, and it doesn't move as quickly as some places, but it's still pretty quick. Fun old timey burger joint. Was hankering for some protein and looked up burger joints near the Costco after a haul of groceries. This establishment is a low frills 50s style diner serving burger classics and fries. Employee uniforms match the era and the taste was classic. There's a patio area outside and decent seating inside, though it does get filled up during the lunch rush. Food came out hot and quick and employees were friendly. Double with fries and drink. If you're in the DSM area, I would mark this as my preferred fast food burger chain. The quality for the category is great and the taste is classic. It hits the spot and I don't have any complaints. Food was great as always (one of my favorite fast food restaurants!). However, this was the first time I have ever been extremely disappointed by the service. We had a rude drive thru employee on Saturday evening. She never once said anything to us besides our total. She sat in the drive thru window talking to coworkers and occasionally smirked out the window. I was very confused by this odd behavior as if I did something wrong. She handed me my food and quickly shut the window without saying a word. When taking my card and handing me my food she looked down her nose at me. This is very odd, egotistical behavior. According to Yelp, I frequent fast food and burgers the most. I am finally getting around to reviewing B-Bop's and my experience last month. Yep, stats don't lie. I was at my first Iowa Wild game. It would end at roughly 9 pm. It was actually much sooner because the Wild ended up losing that night. To dull the pain of seeing this defeat, I needed to grab some dinner afterwards. I did a quick search for food near the hotel where I was staying in West Des Moines and B-Bop's stood out. Likely the most research that I have ever done at a hockey game, I realized that it was a local burger chain in Des Moines, with a couple of stores in Ames, roughly an hour north of the city. Perfect! I wanted a burger. The lineup of burgers on the menu made my mouth water by default. There was an insanely hefty 3/4-pound burger. How do you eat a three-patty hamburger without overstretching your mouth and not smooshing it down?! There were a few items that also caught my attention on the menu: - Quarter-pound pork loin fritter - Sloppy Joe slider - Chili I knew that I had found an eatery that was up my alley. It had everything that I love about a burger joint and more. I drove over here after the game. I used the drive-thru. There was one person ahead of me, which allowed me to scan the menu again and see what I wanted. I had a nice man take my order over the speaker. I got the quarter-pound bacon cheese deluxe burger, with fries and a Diet Pepsi. At the pickup window, I paid for my meal with a credit card. It was a smooth transaction. I got my drink first, followed by a paper bag of food. I thanked the man and headed back to the hotel. I chowed down when I returned to my room. The quarter-pound burger was a decent size. The beef patty was large and yummy. It tasted fresh and was seasoned nicely. You get lots of toppings on your burger. Mine had ketchup, mustard, onion, pickle, lettuce, tomato, bacon, mayonnaise, bacon, and American cheese. The bacon stood out. They were long, crunchy strips of bacon. This place was generous with the bacon that barely fit in the container. A toasted sesame bun held everything together. It was perfect. I had the fries. They were yummy. They weren't overly crispy, which I didn't mind at this hour. They were definitely still hot and lightly seasoned with salt. Yum! My Diet Pepsi washed everything down. It was cold and refreshing on an unseasonably warm October day. It felt like summer. I loved grabbing grub here after the hockey game. I've been here twice now through the drive through and it's always been super speedy. Staff are friendly. They do have seating inside though if you want to sit down. My burgers have always been nice and juicy with the perfect ratio of lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese on top of a nice fluffy sesame bun. The fries are good too. Would recommend it if you're craving a fast food burger. It might even be just as good as In-N-Out (if you've had it before). read more

Originally, we had tried to stop at Raising Cane's drive through on our way to Chicago. After getting gas and seeing the line wrapped around the building, we decided to try B-Bop's instead. This worked out really well for us. Quick drive thru service and good food. Everything was served hot and tasted freshly made. Hubby had the chicken nuggets (best choice for driving while eating) and I had the cheeseburger. They wanted to be dismissive and when called out for it, they wanted to argue. The person who overcharged me had the audacity to tell me to apologize to him for how I mistook him for the one I spoke with on the phone yet I never received an apology from him for the illegal phantom charge. He owed me an apology but yet he didn't see me go out of my way to ask him for one. The entitlement, unprofessionalism, and audacity. I hope he gets fired, not only for the awful customer service but for the illegal practices and because he clearly doesn't know how to do his job. I have fond memories of B-Bop's from when I was a kid, It was definitely my favorite restaurant growing up as I would beg my parents constantly to pick up food there (we rarely ever had fast food). I'm happy to say that the burgers still hold up today. My order was fresh and cooked to perfection, and the toppings were great! This place is amazing. My family doesn't eat fast food but we go to this place on almost a weekly basis. The burgers here are better than restaurant quality. They have the smokey taste, the cheese is perfectly melted, the bacon is crispy and cooked to perfection, and all the vegetables are super fresh. Not to mention best fries that are crispy and salted to perfection. Its sad that I see negative reviews for this place based on a server forgetting a ranch or ketchup packet or some idiot saying burgers taste like propane. This is hands down the best burger place. This place was pretty good! We were riding by after visiting TJ Maxx in the shopping center it's located in. It's in the Jordan Creek area of West Des Moines if I'm not mistaken. It's fast food so nothing fancy but I like the concept. The workers are dressed in 50's style, Grease type, of gear. It's honestly kind of similar to Cook Out, if you're familiar with that chain. We ordered cheeseburgers and fries combos. That was about $13 for 2. Not bad. I was really impressed with the burger. It had a char-grilled taste and came with lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, mustard, and ketchup. The fries were crinkly, hot and fresh. This restaurant is SUPER dirty inside. Booths were all super dirty with food and trash under each and on most, the bathroom has obviously not been cleaned in a week. It was disgusting. A peak behind the counter didn't show much improvement. Food all over the floor, and the young man behind the counter (who rolled his eyes at any customer request) doesn't look like he's washed his uniform in over a week. I get its busy, Covid etc etc etc. if you need to close for an hour a day to clean your restaurant, please do so. Or please spot check to make sure it's being cleaned daily. Generally, this is a go to place for my husband and me. Last night we left from a funeral, tired and hungry and ready to go home. We stopped by this B-Bops where we have eaten many times. The service was beyond RUDE!! The gal that took our order was rude. The gal that gave us our food kept wiping her nose but was also very rude. One of the worst customer service experiences ever. I asked for no cheese, and I get my food thinking that they got it right because my burger box said no cheese on it. Yes this a fast food restaurant but it still is worth a review. There burgers are large and delicious. They also have sloppy joe sliders that actually are my person favorite. They also have very tasty chili too. This particular B Bops has room inside to eat. Which is a different model than there double drive thru model with no indoor seating. Dillon was extremely rude. My father wanted to make sure he had ordered a combo and asked Dillon who's reply was "I asked you if you wanted fries damnit". My dad wasn't bothered by his response but I was. The next time he came to the window I asked his name and politely told him he shouldn't cus at customers. He said "I didn't realize I did anything but I'm sorry". The last time he came to the window my father tried to diffuse the situation and said no worries it was just a misunderstanding. Dillon's reply was "oh I'm not worried a customer is just a customer, I'm not worried." The guy was just rude. Not sure what's going on his life but it doesn't give him the right to speak to any guest that way and then show a total lack of understanding of his mistake. Stopped by the new B-Bops to check out the dinning area, since this is the only one in the area with a dinning room. It was clean and has a nice mural. I thought it was a little odd that they still packed all of our food in a bag, even though we were dining in. The service was fast as usual and I love their burger and fries. Great food! I really enjoyed my delicious grill like meaty patty with its oh so soft fluffy buns. The lettuce really brought the burger to life. Just a few bites and it slides down my gullet with little to no problems most the time so it's wonderful. The old diner feel is something i love as it brings me back to my highschool days of skinned knees and playing hopscotch with the boys on the block. My only complaint is that I got the 1/4 burger but after consumption I felt as though that it was a bit light. Also the wall mural scared my children as it had a quite petrafying image of a zombie hidden in it. But all in all top notch. read more

This is a new fast food restaurant for me. I've never seen them in Florida but I thought I'd give them a try. Was just looking for a light bite with a drive thru. The sloppy joe slider looked like just what I was looking for. It was delicious. I got the combo and it came with large fries which were excellent but way too many. I would get a small size next time. One of the other yelp reviewers had said the sloppy joe slider was small so I got a 2nd one but I was full after the first one and the fries. 5 stars are mainly for the Excellent service in the drive thru from Marcus and Kizmet. We had a complicated order he got it right the first time and suggested we group some of our separate things into meals and saved us a few bucks. Also, the cooks are on their game! Burgers were fresh and tasty, fries cooked just right, milk shake was thick and had a good chocolate malt taste. My daughter liked her sloppy joe and the fish sandwich was tasty too. As a first time visitor to the Des Moines area, My family and I stopped in to try an eatery with a local/ regional flair, rather than the "chain" restaurants. We were all pleasantly surprised to find the atmosphere in this place. The decor, the staff/ customer interaction, the food itself were all top notch! And the price? Two adults (one of them 6'6'' and 280lbs) and two teens (one of them a male athlete) ate and were full on $30.50! Excellent value, and truly outclassed the "chains" that every traveler goes to "because they know" the food. Next time we're in Des Moines we'll be back! read more

I've eaten b bops for over 20 years since I was a kid. I usually just order the breaded chicken sandwich. This location charged me for a ranch in the drive thru and forgot to put it in my bag. I had to park and go inside to tell them which was annoying. Also there was no napkin which normally is in with the order automatically.
