My wife got a Bacon Cheeseburger as well, so $20 for dinner. The onion rings were a nice portion and more than enough to split. Fun place for quick serve deliciousness! Well worth the wait for the result of friendly service and great burger varieties. Stark but clean and well organized space. I liked the sweet potato fries I got and loved the special brisket burger. My friend wants to try different things but can't pull himself away from the bacon double cheeseburger. He also swears they have the best tots ever. And he is a connoisseur of tots. He's been here dozens of times but it was my first visit. I will be back! We have been talking about trying this place for a long time. When we got there the place was pretty empty, it did fill up by the time we left. We stood just down fro. The counter trying to decide what to order. I would I assume it was the manager, the person was dressed different that all the employees. While we were deciding the person stood anlt the register drumming (loudy) there hands on the counter. I ordered a single and onion rings and my dinning companion ordered a double and fries. There was ketchup and mustard at the tables but not napkins, which is kinda odd for a burger joint. Both of us agreed the meals were average at best. Made it to the Burger Shop for a late evening meal and it didn't disappoint. Super fresh burger with freshly made tots and onion rings were the heart of the meal. All were delicious! I was in office today and wanted to check out something new around West Des Moines/Clive. I saw some really good reviews for Burger Shop, especially the onion rings. Overall I personally was underwhelmed by both the venue and food. I ventured out during the late lunch hour and was pleased to find a steadily busy fast casual style restaurant but no line at the counter to place an order. Options range from burgers to other sandwiches and wraps with a few different sides. A Hot Roast Beef with gravy on Texas Toast special sounded appealing today but I stuck with the plan - classic cheeseburger and those onion rings. The vegetables looked crisp and fresh, with a really good looking beefsteak tomato slice included amongst the leaf lettuce, pickle and onion. The bun was also treated well. Here's the challenge - the burger was missing any signature kiss of grill or even flat-topped crispy edges. Not quite gray, but the least appealing part of the whole meal, which is a bit concerning when eating at a place called, ahem, Burger Shop. The onion rings were solid, but even with a perfect golden brown and delicious I didn't want to finish my large basket. The breading was dece, but maybe still a frozen distributor product? A worthwhile option if you are slightly more indiscriminate while getting your burger fix. Maybe some other options on the menu impress more. I sadly was not. read more
