I was getting some sort of hard sell and he kept saying, well, what if I called my boss and what sort of monthly payments could you make? After I had told him the price of $75,000. Was too much. My experience was the same. 1) high pressure salesman - sign RIGHT now, have a special that's "only good tonight." 2) He displayed the 50 year transferable warranty that covers "everything" but it's only on his screen, you are not given a copy to read closely. 3) when asked for references / to see some of their completed jobs - a quick mumble about insurance, and quickly drop the subject 4) not given ANYTHING in writing, would not share the bid (i did take a picture with my phone). No chance to closely review the details before signing with deposit 5) Bid was WAY over priced and it was hard to get the salesman to leave. Not cooperating with service under warranty on our sunroom built by better living 8 yrs ago with a so called "50 yr warranty

I wish my experience with BetterLiving Sunrooms was like those who rated this company a "5"(they must be talking about a different Better Living Sunrooms?). I would echo the rating provided by one reviewer as a negative figure if the scale allowed such. At the beginning of the process the slick salespeople provide pictures of great looking sunrooms. They tell you about the efficiency and quality of the company, its work, their 50-year warranty and they've been in business for 60 years(frankly, I find that hard to believe now), blah blah blah, but the reality is much different. Look at my sunroom pictures compared to the slick advertising photos. When I discussed the project with the salesperson, I harped on the fact that I did not want to stain wooden stairs and would rather have Trex stairs installed. I was assured repeatedly(because I asked repeatedly) about the stairs being Trex. He told me repeatedly; I would get the Trex stairs. When the materials arrived, no Trex was included. Wood for steps was delivered. When I discussed this with the owner, Rick, he told me no steps were supposed to be installed in the first place because steps were not in the contract. He wanted the wood returned. However, the drawing submitted to the township by Better Living indicated steps and the township approved the drawing(the drawing also indicated a sliding exit door which was installed. Who would install a door with no steps?- A door to nowhere!) The deck is 8 feet off the ground and there would be no separate exit. The township would never approve no steps(steps were there with the prior existing deck Better Living tore down). Rick and another employee kept telling me the drawing identified the door/steps only to "satisfy" the township, (whatever that means). However, I was told by an employee of Better Living to review, sign and approve the drawing(which showed steps) before it was sent to the township. Why have me sign the drawing with steps for submission to the township if no steps were supposed to be installed?? In the end I got no steps. The building inspector told me the township expected steps to be installed. The building inspector told me that the plans would not have been approved without steps. Clearly the steps were contracted for as the drawing identified steps. I know what the salesperson told me. He promised me Trex steps over and over, which I never received and never received the wood steps. Then Better Living wanted to install the wood steps for "free" even though, "not in the contract" as they claimed. They were doing me no favors. I told them no, that's not what the salesperson told me would be installed and that's not what I wanted. A Better Living employee felt sorry for me and told me he would do the Trex steps because he said, " Better Living makes promises to customers just to get the sale." I purchased the Trex materials as he told me to do. He started and never finished. I had to hire someone else to install the Trex steps I originally was promised by Better Living and purchase additional materials. The entire cost was an additional $5,000. The new contractor also had to correct deficiencies in the existing Better Living construction. I was lied to by Better Living from start to end about the steps. The sunroom was useless for over 6 months as the project started June 4 and did not end for me until December 10. (Better Living said the project was complete as of June 30). Crews would show up one day then I would not have anyone come for a week or more. Construction materials(new and old) were strewn all over the yard for over 5 months. I would inquire when/if someone is coming out and would usually get the runaround or no response at all. I would be told someone would show up on a certain day and no one showed, tying me up the entire day for nothing. Then there were leaks which had to be repeatedly addressed(including to the original house when workers negligently left a gutter open which rainwater got into the basement). The multiple repairs performed by Better Living have not corrected the leaks. As I write this in December of 2023, I have a contractor out to correct another leak and the poor quality of work by Better Living. At least I know the hired contractor will do the job correctly. The roofline on the existing house looks terrible. The guttering is cut out around the sunrooms horribly with parts left in short sections. Where the sunroom meets the house also looks to me to be of questionable quality(that's why it leaked after the first place). I could go on and on. This was definitely the WORST experience I ever had with a contractor. Don't use Better Living! read more

Absolute worst in customer service. We recently realized we had an issue with a sunroom we had built 16 years ago. We contacted them 5 times explaining our situation and got no reply. We Contacted them again pretending to be interested in a new install and the guy wouldn't stop calling to set up a consult leaving messages on my voicemail. Then I used his contact information several times to follow up from my initial contacts and got no reply. So we tried again regarding the "interest in a new install" and got someone right away. After 27 emails and phone calls and begging, they finally agreed to come out and give an estimate. After 2 weeks of waiting for the estimate, we reached out again numerous times and after cornering him, (Jim Wynn- he happened to answer the phone) he gave me an estimate that was $5000 more than the other 3 bids for repairs that came in. When I asked him to send me an email with the estimate in writing, he said he would send it to me right away that was two weeks ago. Avoid using BetterLiving at any cost. Their customer service sucks. They are unprofessional, uncooperative and overpriced. 1/25/24 - update: "supposedly" there was an issue with their phones not holding any of the messages and emails were not being delivered but they kept getting return emails notifications but never picking up the phone and calling me?!!!. Working with the president to see how this goes has proven to be useless. As of now, nothing has changed yet. But we hope to have a reasonable and financially appropriate resolution so as to "kindly take down your Yelp post". No follow-up so the post stays. read more

They have an online project tracker system that allows us to see each phase leading up to installation. My parents weren't aware of this at first, however it has been a valuable tool. Don't let this place bully you! I was threatened to take down my yelp review by the president of this place and I'm sure they have done it to others before. I have been saving my 1 star rating, and I think this place has taken the cake. DO NOT EVER GET ANYTHING DONE BY THESE PEOPLE. YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF. At the time of purchase, we were assured that our sun room would be covered and that the warranty was top-notch. My mother's english is not that good, so the man explained the warranty briefly to us. I understand that we should have read the fine print, but it is still extremely frustrating to find out that the warranty they raved about, actually covers close to nothing! Fast forward 2 years later, when our sun room screen door has seen some wear and tear along with an accidentally bird collision. Calling the representatives, they were clear to assure me that NOTHING was covered by the warranty. They were very rude, and when asked so does this mean that you don't really cover anything in your warranty? their answer was basically YES. They said that I could come in to the shop and pick of material and install the screen myself ????? Like......???????? Is that anyway to treat your customers?? I tried to be nice and ask them for instructions on how to do so, and they told me they could not really help with it. I feel so upset and saddened by this place. This company has given us the run around for years since their installation materials started to break down. They do 'double speak' when they communicate and try to give you delay after delay and then a complete run around when you finally get them on the phone. My husband has managing our issues with them on his weekly calendar of 'to do's' and has for two years and still we are waiting for them to make good on their warranty and their product. They say they are coming and don't show up, tell you the warranty doesn't specify how long they can take to make good on it (a not so indirect way of telling you they will drag their feet and good luck getting what you are owed out of them). Our sunroom isn't finished and it was started over 3 months ago. We are getting water inside and they haven't come to find out what is causing it, despite my phone calls and messages through their project tracker. The installers are friendly, but the business administrators have terrible customer service. They are very high pressure sales, like a car salesman. I bought a home with an existing Better Living brand sunroom. The existing room contained all single pane glass windows/doors. I contacted the manufacturer to get two prices. One to have them supply replacement windows and install myself; the second option was to have them supply and install the windows. Upon my first meeting I was given a verbal price of $13,000 to supply and install the windows and was told they were unable to supply windows if they did not install them. Even though I was told on the phone they could supply the windows without installation services. After multiple requests for the windows only the gentleman left and said he would contact his manager to see if they could supply me the windows only. I received a call from a representative and he setup an appt with me. During the appt. he gave me a verbal price of $7000 for replacement windows. I asked him to get me a written quotation on the windows and he declined. I became suspicious once he told me he would not write what he was quoting me. He said "Well what else do you need to know? The price is $7000." I told him I was interested in seeing it in writing along with the payment terms, whether shipping was included, product warranty, etc. He firmly denied my request for a written quotation and said that's not how they do business. I then told him that I don't do business with anyone if they can't put what they offer in writing. He then responded that he didn't have to sell me the windows in a tone that was as if he was doing me a favor. I then told him I would have someone else come in and quote me double pane windows. Upon responding this way he told me that it was impossible to have anyone else replace the windows since the system was proprietary. He also mentioned that anyone else working on the sunroom would void my existing 50 year warranty. Upon learning I had a warranty I showed him other problems I was having with the sunroom, ie. Leaking roof, failing subfloor, etc (sunroom is approx. 6 years old). I asked him if these items were covered under the warranty he mentioned and he told me I needed to go read the warranty. After this type of response I abruptly ended the meeting and contacted a reputable general contractor. He quoted me and ended up installing all new sliding windows that are double pane for a price of $5750. The windows look great and work perfectly. The difference in price between the two companies and the way each handled it were highly contrasting. This leads me to believe that Better Living Sunrooms is a company that preys on consumers that are unaware of market prices for construction materials and services and use sales tactics that lack integrity. I hope that someone considering having a sunroom built learns that a conventional home additional with wrap around windows is a much better and less expensive option that using a company like Better Living Sunrooms. read more

Yes we impulsively signed the contract and put down a large deposit on an overpriced sunroom at the sales presentation, our bad. We understand we waited beyond legal time limit to attempt to end the contract. We offered to pay them a considerable amount for time and effort to terminate the agreement. I wrote a letter to the company president asking him to work with us to find a reasonable compromise and got no response at all. The work began. We rarely knew when the crews would or would not show up. I noticed a gap between the bottom of the porch and the ground. I checked with a worker to clarify that that would be closed of course. Later I was told it would cost another $700 plus. That was the final insult Bottom line, we have very expensive sunporch with an unfinished floor, no electricity and a gap underneath. Please do not use the company. Salesman comes to house, promises the world. 3 day cancellation but their problems start after this. 11/19/19 signed contract for a deck and roof. Over $7k given at signing. Contractor comes out and spends two hours looking and re-looking. Admits he cannot match roof lines like we asked. Contractt states architecture drawings in 2-4 weeks. We signed November 19, still no drawings . Owner is shifty. Several calls to him, never returned calls. We had to keep calling him. Called me a liar that the contractor didn't do or say what I saw. Owner started messing with project tracker, adding things after our phone call like the drawings were complete. My husband showed up at office and owner says we are past the cancellation time. Well guess what.. better homes did not honor their contract. DO NOT USE THIS Company! We were told the salesman and contractor we out sick. We have a list of people we are contacting, including the news we are planning to contact. I love my sunroom. The manufacturer in Allentown makes such a great sunroom. However, the franchise in Conshohocken, PA is the worst in the world to deal with. It took them 11 months to complete my sunroom and they damaged my house in the process. They claim that they are not responsible for any direct or indirect damages that they cause. Damage came when the install crew re-direct rain spots into my home right before a big anticipated rain storm. The corporate offices in Allentown were of no hope because the people in Conshohocken are an independent sales and installation company. So, I was between a rock and a hard place. The CEO of the franchise, Rick is the most obnoxious person on earth and refused to help in any way. They threatened that I would never have the sunroom built if I took my case to court. Do not make the same mistake and find another set of installers to put in your Better Living sunroom. Others on BBB and Yelp have said the exact same thing. I should have done more research. This is my second Better Living Sunroom and the first one was great. I dealt with such a better franchise the first time. This franchise should never be used. read more

Oh, how I wish I had read the reviews by Grant and Ryan before my abysmal experience with Betterliving Sunrooms. Our encounter with "SAL THE SALESMAN" confirmed everything both reviewers report and worse. He was rude, tenacious and overbearing. When, after a 2 hour presentation, he quoted me $30,000 for a 9x12 room, I said we would not do it for that price. He then made a few phone calls (smoke and mirrors) and said they would do it for $20,000. Talk about a capricious pricing policy! We were then required to write a check for $8000 as a down payment. Several months passed with no signs of a sunroom. At that time my husband's job position had changed and I called to say that given the long delays and tour current financial position, I wanted to cancel the order and receive my $8,000 back. I was met with a threat that they might get their lawyers involved. I conceded the $8,000 and canceled the project. A year later, I was still agonizing over the loss of the down payment with nothing to show for it and continued on my naive, foolish belief that maybe we could work with these folks. Believe it or not, I renewed negotiations. Again, we set up a time for delivery and AGAIN several months passed with no action. When I called regarding the delays, they had hired a "BUFFER LADY" who kept customers from talking to the owners. She made assurances etc. but the delays continued. Eventually we got our sunroom - or an aluminum shell of a room with one pane windows, plywood flooring, no electrical outlets and a rough interior wall. We then needed to contract another person to do insulation, a floor, electrical work and drywall at even more cost. As it stands now, the room is too cold in the winter and spring, even for plants, and too hot to enjoy on most summer days. There is a small window of opportunity for enjoying it at all. Further, it does not meet the County building code. When the inspector came he cited such problems as lack of safety latches, and the need to check how they had attached the room to the house. This can't be done without removing some of the insulation work done by the third party. We have heard nothing from Betterliving about solving these issues. A year later and the room is still not up to code!! I have expressed my dissatisfaction to the "buffer" at Betterliving to no avail. From the uncouth salesman to the Machiavellian tactics of the company itself, Betterliving Sunrooms is an oxymoron indeed. I see in writing this how utterly trusting and foolish I was to continue with the project and I have learned a hard lesson indeed. I hope that anyone reading this will not make the same mistakes I did. I am grateful to reviewers 2 and 3 for letting me see that my perception about Betterliving is shared by others as well. read more

I have a 15 year old Betterliving Sunroom and needed the roof replaced because of snow damage. I called Betterliving Sunrooms in Conshohocken, Pa. to give me a price on repairing my custom shingled roof. A Betterliving Representative came out and looked at the roof and explained in detail what they were going to do and gave me an exact price and said they would also work with my insurance company and handle all the details, which they did. All repairs were done in a timely fashion and very professional. The job was completed on time and looks as good or even better than the original roof. I am very pleased with the work and their workers were very professional and cleaned up each day and removed all trash when they were finished. I would highly recommend Betterliving Conshohocken. They were honest, professional and did exactly what they said they were going to do. One last thing, the price they give me was guaranteed in writing, I loved that, wish all companies would do that. read more

Do not ever deal with this company. I've been wanting to have sunroom in my house, So I inquire with this (shit!!!) company. Thinking they are nice and professional to deal with. They come over to my house for a free demo and estimates but at the end of their presentation . They asked us to put $2000 dollars for a down payment , to get the promotion they are promising. So we are ok with that, because I have been wanting to have a sunroom. When we realized that we are not ready for the sunrooms. We called and told them we would like to cancel the sunroom. but they told us that the manager of BETTERLIVING SUNROOMS need to talk us to find out why we are cancelling the project.. To make story short........ We proceed with the project and they finished the sunrooms January 2016.... But the material looks so cheap especially the glass.. in the presentation. they mentioned no moist in the glass but guess what. full of moist all the time. Also, they promise LIFETIME WARRANTY!!!!
