CUSTOMIZED APPROACH Since my wife and I moved into a very quirky old farmhouse in a crowded area, we had lots of special needs, narrow doorways, and weird angles that our contractor had to work around and find solutions for. Joe seemed to have seen it all and never let those challenges get in his way. In fact, the quirky size and shape of our kitchen probably led to Joe's biggest success for us: a recessed counter-box in which we keep our sugar, cereal and coffee that was only possible because Joe saw extra space behind a wall and figured out a creative and gorgeous way to make use of it. Whenever people enter our kitchen, they're impressed at the counter-box and immediately ask whose idea it was - we're grateful for Joe's creativity and vision to make it happen. DETAILED QUOTE We met with 10 contractors before hiring Joe. Of the 11 contracts we asked to send us quotes, he was the quickest (and one of the least expensive), by far, and had the most detail in his quote - providing a line item expense for just about everything. Not only did that show us that he heard our request and understood our needs, it also showed us that he cared enough to take the time to think through what our project would need and what materials it would take to get him there. If he's running late, he'll let you know. If he can work an extra-weekend day, he'll tell you that too. Where to start? I cannot say enough good things about Joe and his crew, especially Cecil and John. My husband and I had tried to redo our bathroom starting in Aug. of 2020. We wound up getting ripped off by a contractor who not only had taken 10 months to not finish, but did a horrific job that was not only not professional, but not sound (he didn't even waterproof the shower!) and it left us devastated. In need of a complete redo, I did some research and found glowing reviews for DePiano, and from first contact through the end of the project, we were more than thrilled with everything he and his crew did. Joe was quickest to reply to a request for a quote where other contractors either were slow to respond or just blew us off altogether. Next, the amount of work that was done for the price was incredible - based on Joe's suggestions, our bathroom was made more functional in its layout - from demoing things to increase the size of the shower, to moving a doorway and even a radiator to make things work (and look) better. Cecil did an amazing job quickly demoing and cleaning things up and John was meticulous in his work -from framing, to tiling, to finishes - and gave honest input into design and layout that were incredibly helpful (and great suggestions)! Everyone we dealt with was incredibly reliable - always showing up when they said they would and completing what I feel was a much bigger project than what was initially envisioned quickly - start to finish was only 5-6 weeks! When we had questions along the way, Joe was always super quick to respond - we never waited more than an hour (and honestly, I don't think we ever waited even that long) for him to give us a call after we reached out. To say our expectations were exceeded is truly an understatement. Our new bathroom has gone from a literal hole in the wall to what our friends have described as a "model home showcase" and we could not be happier. We will absolutely be calling upon Joe and his crew again in the future for any remodeling or general contracting work and I wholeheartedly recommend DePiano for all of your contracting needs. My wife and I were looking for our basement to be finished and a master bathroom update. About a year ago we had Joe (and others) come by with estimates. Joe's prices were very reasonable - in line with others or lower. He was also very helpful - willing to let us do some work prior to him getting started to save on costs. He was also able to provide answers/solutions to certain questions we had regarding relocating certain appliances. We did not move forward with either project at the time, but set a timeline to do them/others in the next 5 years. However, Joe (and his colleague Gordon) did install a gas line to both our stove and fireplace. We just renovated our kitchen ourselves, the missing piece was a gas line to a new stove which we just bought and a fireplace insert into our previous wood burning fireplace. We just converted to gas so these were the last items in that project that needed to be done. Joe and Gordon came by and the job was pretty quick/easy in general, though the placement of our fireplace and basement was not ideal for running a line and we just barely got the pipe hole through the floor. The entire job took maybe 1/2 a day and was fantastic. I would highly recommend Joe (and Gordon) to anyone. Joe knew what he was doing and my wife and I are very happy with the end result. We did have an issue almost immediately with one of the connections to the gas line was broken (but installed correctly), and let out a slow leak. Joe was right on it - fixed it almost immediately (there was no rush because I was able to turn the gas off thanks to Joe installing a shut off valve at both the start and end of the line. It was comforting that he took the time out of his night to continue to talk to me about how to troubleshoot/fix the problem, and that he came back fast to fix it without trying to charge me extra. We are very pleased with the work and hoping to use the fireplace in the winter months. We plan to have Joe come back to do as much of the remaining projects that I am unable or unwilling to do myself. We hired Depiano General Contractors initially to do some concrete work on the one side of our building consisting of about 36 concrete blocks and it's curb. This review is long overdue. Joe did a complete renovation on a sunroom. Demo'ed the old one and rebuilt the sunroom from the foundation. It looks great, the family loves the new space, and so far no problems after more than a year. However, a sunroom pipe was leaking when I opened the shut off valve this spring. Talked to joe about it and in a few weeks, he sent Gordon to fix it and it works fine now. Problem was pipe froze and shark bite connection broke. Really thankful he backs up his work even though it was more than a year ago since they completed it and it wasn't his fault. For the project overall, I had a great experience with Joe and would happily consider him for future projects. I like that he and his guys aren't trying to sell and be pushy but they focus on the problem and make suggestions and make sure they do it right and focus on the client's needs. I've had a great experience working with Joe and his team. After other estimates for a bathroom renovation and deck construction, Joe's estimate came in at a reasonable range and he was really transparent and honest about what made sense and costs. Joe is super easy to communicate with and really helpful with all my questions. The bathroom is almost completed and they are starting deck construction now. Cecil has been great with demo and all the work he has done. Can't say enough good things about Rich (who has been doing the bathroom work). Moving into a new home during a pandemic is hard enough, then we found out that the renovations done by previous owners resulted in a bathroom pipe breaking. We called half a dozen contractors, but Joe was the only one who took the time to think about what was causing the leak and how to resolve it. In the middle of the pandemic Joe's crew, Gordon, Cecil, Jerry (I know I am forgetting someone's name) got the job done and then some. Not only did they fix our pipe (which was a miracle in itself in our old home with poorly planned renovations), but also raised our ceiling and put in recessed lights which seemed physically impossible but they got it done! I still call on Joe and his team when I need something for my home because I know that they will spend the time to do a good job and the quality will be good. read more

Had the worst experience with a contractor that was recommended to me by our neighbors to do a bedroom remodel splitting one room into two for my kids. The contractor ghosted us... then my wife found Joe on yelp and I couldn't have been happier. They showed up when they said and have been super respectful and the work ethic they have had is refreshing (Lou is a machine). In one day the amount of work they were able to do was incredible. I was quoted 2 weeks by most contractors and they will be finishing in 3. Makes me wonder what the others were going to do with that extra time. We had DePiano split a bedroom into two bedrooms, build out a closet in the newly-created room, and put in a window. We are through 75% of the project and have been very impressed thus far. The owner responded immediately to my initial call and was able to meet with me within 24 hours to look at my property and presented an estimate within 48 hours. Having dealt with many contractors, I can say Joe and his team were the easiest to work with by far in my 10 years in the Delco area. They were fast, efficient, and always showed up exactly when they said they would. I felt bad sending so many texts and phone calls with questions about my project, but Joe was always happy to answer them and ensured the project moved the direction I needed it to go. Joe just redid our patio. He and his workers did a wonderful job. They were extremely neat and kept everything very tidy and clean. The new patio is beautiful and everything we hoped for. Great job Joe & team!!! I had the worst job a contractor wants to take on - re-cementing my South Philly backyard with access only available through my neighbor's back yard and over a brick wall, nonetheless. What a PITA. Joe and his team did it and did it in the midst of this horrible Philly summer weather, did the job well, and even went the extra mile to patch up portions of the foundation causing leakage into my basement, which was outside of the scope of the project. Joe DePiano and his team did a great job renovating our 40 year old hall bathroom. His tile man Rich, a certified Wedi shower system installer, suggested switching from a traditional bathtub shower combination to a curbless shower with a half glass wall. Rich was able to incorporate the same large floor tiles from the bathroom into the shower pan for a seamless look, and a couple of squeegee swipes easily dry water spills. We are so pleased with the results! Joe worked with us to make sure we were satisfied. We did need patience, as Joe is very busy. read more
