I took three very simple dining room chairs to Mr. New for refinishing. I was told they were a little behind but they would be completed in 6-8 weeks. Five months later they were still not refinished. It was not until I asked to pick up my chairs and get a refund of the deposit that they were completed. Mr. New and his staff profess what a great job they do. Well for me, not so much. I provided an already refinished chair I wanted to match. When I went to pick up my chairs they did not match. They did correct the color but in doing so covered up the beautiful graining of the wood. I was not offered any discount for the color issue or the extra 1.5 hours and gas I spent driving back and forth nor was any discount offered for the 5 month wait. Mr. New is great at making promises and excuses but poor at completing work. Pricing compared to others is at the top of the range. read more

I would like to give zero stars. Please don't use B New Restoration and wind up disappointed like us. We dropped off a chair from the 1940s in February to be recovered for a graduation gift. They said they could handle it no problem. I called in April because I hadn't heard from them and asked about the chair. The owner was very hostile with me and said they knew the deadline and it would be ready. I called back in May the week of graduation. It wasn't ready. I have continued to call and stop by for months with promises of "by Friday", "it will be ready next week", "we will make it right when we settle up". We finally picked up the chair today (august). It looks awful. There are parts of the fabric that are not even sewn on just laying there. It is dirty and stained. The seams that are sewn are really crooked and most of it is glued on. They stapled some with green staples on a light grey chair. I could have done better with a glue gun. The "we will make it right was a 10% discount and not charging us for the stained fabric". Please save yourself the headache and do not use B New Restoration. The owner is not nice. There is a young man who works there that is polite and the cowardly owner makes him talk to the customer while he hides in the back. read more

Mr. New was engaged earlier this year to refinish some antique furniture of ours, including a dining room table and a table leaf. He returned the furniture but did not return the leaf, saying that he did not know that it belonged to us, despite our having had a conversation about refinishing the leaf and then my subsequently giving it to him and his crew when they came out to pick up our table. The last communication I have had from him was a voicemail which he left on April 1, 2022, saying that he would return the leaf to us. He has not responded to attempts to communicate with him since then. Because of the choices he has made in this matter, we will be looking into any kind of legal action which can be employed to get our property returned to us. He does not even deserve one star for a rating. read more

My mother had an heirloom chair and stool redone here as a gift for me with the birth of my daughter. The wood was taken care of beautifully! However, the upholstery was very poorly done, clearly by a novice. The fabric is lovely but the sewing isn't even complete with holes on the sides and really just needs to be redone. They also replaced the actual cushions with a light foam that doesn't match the quality of the original furniture. My mother was really disappointed in the upholstery which needs to be redone. In fact, they even attached the stool cushion with Velcro instead of the original beautiful snaps. It was lazy and to be honest, I probably could have done a better job. When I can, I'll redo it to honor my grandmother and my mom's wishes. Finally, my mom had requested they return the original fabric as it has great sentimental value and they promised they would. They didn't.My mom reached out multiple times to get her property back and they ignored her communication. I believe they lost or disposed of it and do not want to deal with the consequences. If you have wood that needs cleaned up, this is a good place to go! Seriously, the wood is gorgeous. However, take any fabric, cushioning, and any heirloom places elsewhere. read more

I had two cement bathroom sinks repaired and resurfaced. One sink turned out fine, the other has…read moresquishy bubbled up places in the finish. They have tried to fix it twice, but it's still there. I was told the cement must have a contamination in it that's causing the problem. They had never seen this before. My house was on the market and has sold, so I'm out of time to keep trying. I contacted them weeks ago and said the bubbles were still there and left another message after that. It appears they are not going to set up a time to come try again. Nor have I been offered a refund of any kind, since I did not get what I paid for. This has been going on for months and never resolved. Because of the shiny surface, the bubbled up places are hard to see, so I'm sure our buyer did not notice them. I'm afraid when something is dropped in the sink, the bubbles will tear open on them. Additionally, if I had been shown the paperwork they left me with beforehand, I would not have done this to begin with. I told Mr. Hickman I was having trouble with the original finish, and that everything dropped into the sink would nick it, and it would begin to peel and that I wanted something tough and chemical resistant. He said he could do that. The paperwork says don't drop things in the sink and if you are using bleach mix with water to 10% only and never get nail polish remover on it (no one has that in their bathroom, right?). How is that tough and chemical resistant? A guy can't drop his razor, and find somewhere else to do your nails. Same problems I had to begin with. Also, I asked Mr. Hickman if they could handle the plumbing. He just said yes, with no qualifications. Turns out, that's only if there are no problems. So, be aware you may end up paying a plumber anyway or doing it yourself, if something goes awry, like a part breaks. Update: Mr. Hickman has since told me the paperwork that I was left with does not apply to the finish we got (except for the nail polish remover part) ... but that's what the the tech gave me, and that's still a problem. My husband did drop his razor and it nicked the finish. Given the bubbles, it appears it hasn't adhered properly to the surface.

If I could give 0 stars, it would be more representative of my experience. I went into the store…read morebecause my aunt needed a rug cleaned after her pet passed away. I explained that the pet had soiled the rug. I was quoted a price of approximately $180 something. I was told they could pick up and deliver the rugs, but that if any furniture had to be moved, there would be an additional charge...I think around $80 dollars. I went back to her apartment, rolled up the rug and put it in a closet. I also took a photo of the label on the back of the rug. I went back to the store to show them the photo with the dimensions along with a description of the rug description. Barry told me the cost of submersion cleaning based on the information I had given him on the photo would be approximately $180. My aunt has Alzheimers Disease and is assisted living, and I was afraid she might not remember where the rug was located. I told him exactly where the rug was located in the apartment. I returned to NY where I live thinking we had a clear agreement. When the guys came to get the rug, They passed by the closet where the rug was located and went straight back to her bedroom. They took a rug that was under her bed, which obviously required them to move the furniture, but they left the rug that I wanted cleaned in the closet. When I heard what had happened from a friend, I immediately called Barry. He said they would go back to get the rug, but I would have to pay the fee for furniture being moved. I made my case, that it was their fault the crew picked up the wrong rug. I asked what they would charge to also clean the smaller rug from the bedroom. He quoted me $50 something, so I told them to go ahead and clean both rugs since they had them, and I would split the moving fee, which he agreed to. I was told it would take approximately two weeks. Almost 8 weeks later they called to tell me the rugs were finally ready. When I asked about the final charge, it was substantially higher that the price I was originally quoted. My big mistake was leaving the store without the quoted price in writing. I tried explaining that I had been a much lower quote of approximately $290 for both rugs, and now they said it would be $420. He resorted to making excuses about how it must have been due to the size of the rug (which they saw on the label beforehand and the fact that it was wool instead of synthetic...also on the label). Then he became more aggressive and told me that since the pandemic, he has had to deal with so many nasty customers. I assured him my complaints have nothing to do with the pandemic, but rather on the fact that I was quoted a lower price and then charged significantly more. He again said he's been in business for 50 something years. Again, all and good, but that has nothing to do with my situation. I would never deal with this store again, and I would warn anyone who does to be sure to get everything in writing!

He cleaned a rug for my place of worship, an 11 x 14 which was trafficked by hundreds of feet, sometimes seven days a week, annually for us for about 15 years and kept it in perfect condition. He cleaned other rugs for me and they were clean and shaped as good as new when I got them back. Recently my four-year-old grandson threw up on a brand-new looped rug,it was difficult to clean to say the least. Mr. Martinous was very happy that he was able to restore it to new condition. Mr. Martinous is a gentleman who is and has been very interested in doing his job well and pleasing his customers .

Re-Store's selection of flooring was limited at best, so we'd already mapped our path back to Home Depot, but decided to check out Chuck's first- Man oh man! This is the spot when you need a big project done and you need to do it quick, on a budget. It's a housing supply surplus store. They don't have a super broad selection, but *tons* of what they do have, and the prices are a steal if you can be flexible about color/style/shape etc. They're especially good for tile, flooring, vanities, sinks. In general, it's not a broad selection, but there are some solid finds. On the downside, it is way off the beaten path (possibly hard to find), and quite frankly, looks a little scary from the outside. Still, if it's what you're looking for, it's magical to find a warehouse like this! This is a raw, unpolished, construction materials store, so it is dusty, dirty, a little disorganized. You have to know what you're looking for, and how to use it. So if you go looking for it, be prepared for that :)
