I arrived at PRN Physical Therapy as a weakened, pain-ridden senior citizen (pain level 5 on a 10…read morescale). Pain drastically interfered with the most elementary daily activities.I had 2 surgeries to remove a tumor on my spine. The tumor recurred thus a second surgery was needed. Essentially, it was inoperable because of scar tissue was intermingled with tumor. I followed with radiation. I'll have an MRI in November to check the status. PRN Physical Therapy facility is very new. It is clean, roomy, open, airy and complete with all the best PT toys/tools. It's conveniently located off El Camino Real, in Carlsbad not far from Palomar Airport Road. Katie Sculley is my therapist and thank God for that. Katie's a true professional and she combines that expertise with a magnetic personality and energy level that's off the charts. Her assessment of my problem and treatment plan was right on the money. For weeks, it seemed I was making no progress. In fact the condition at one point seemed to worsen. One morning after a PT session I awoke virtually pain free. I was afraid to say anything that might jinx it - "traffic's really light today" - type paranoia. I have not stayed pain free, but the pain level is livable (2/10). Katie and I have continued to work to strengthen and open my back as well as stamina, balance and flexibility. I am not yet at 100% but with Katie's help I believe I will get as close as possible. I am very pleased with PRN and strongly recommend it to anyone. M Hennessy, Oceanside, CA

I was assured I would have the guy who runs the clinic. When I arrived, I had my forest evaluation with a very young man, he was nice and thorough, but oh so young. When I got home I looked up the therapists on the website and didn't see him. At my next appointment, I asked him why he wasn't on there like everyone else. He said oh I'm just an unpaid student here for the summer. So much for being assured I'd get someone with experience with my situation. Super nice kid, so I went with it. Other than being annoyed that the guy I was told I'd have didn't even observe the evaluation. The kids that lead your exercises are just that, kids who'd rather socialize amongst each other than pay attention to you. I'd finish what I was told to do and sit there looking around to get one of them to tell me what was next. One day this lady and I sat up looking around at the same time and she looked at me like what the heck with the same frustration I had. The guy who runs the place, I think it was JJ, never once got his ass off his barstool the entire weeks I was there. I was done, went and paid cash for PT when my insurance paid 100% just to avoid this joke. I called the corporate office to let them know....and no surprise....no one called back.

After sustaining a knee injury…read moreduring treatment at another PT clinic (while trying to rehab a hamstring injury), I was hesitant--honestly, afraid--to try physical therapy again. But I'm so glad I gave it another chance, thanks to a recommendation from a friend. Longevity has completely changed my view of what quality physical therapy should be. The three therapists I've had the opportunity to see--Kristen, Krista, and Chad--are truly outstanding. They are incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and careful. What really sets them apart is how engaged they are throughout the entire session--they stay with you the whole time, ensuring that each exercise is done correctly and safely. That level of attention gave me so much confidence in my recovery. Everyone in the front are also always super helpful with scheduling and billing and always so friendly and encouraging. I came in with a lingering hamstring issue and a knee injury that had made things even more complicated, but the team at Longevity took the time to truly understand my situation. Their individualized care and expertise have helped me make meaningful progress, and I feel like I'm finally healing the right way. I wouldn't go anywhere else for PT. Longevity is the only place I trust, and I highly recommend them to anyone in need of physical therapy.

However, I was looking to incorporate more strength training. I also missed having a coach like I did back when I played competitive sports. I ended up getting recommended to Nakoa by a friend, and decided to try it out after checking out their reviews. My experience there has been great. You get the benefits of 1/1 coaching and a tailored training plan, but at an affordable price. They do semi-private group training. Some days it's just you and the coach, and other days it's 4 people and the coach. Regardless, each person has their own plan, and they work with you wherever you are at in your fitness journey. I've trained alongside people of all ages and physical abilities. So you don't have to worry about your fitness level. I also appreciate how they mix things up. They keep the programs fresh and make an effort to incorporate new techniques. The trainers are super friendly, and you can tell they care about their craft and clients. Very positive vibes all around. You won't regret joining.

Julie called a third time to cancel that appointment saying that I had exceeded the threshold tier for Physical therapy and they were concerned Medicare would not pay for the visit. Atala refused to allow me to use Medicare, but insisted that I pay cash to keep my afternoon appointment. I called Medicare and spoke to two representatives both of whom assured me that there are no limits or tiers on physical therapy. There were many years ago, but those tiers were rescinded. Now physical therapy is administered and reimbursed by Medicare according to medical necessity. That medical necessity is determined by the examination that the physical therapist does in the first visit testing your strength, capabilities, and pain threshold. It is precisely that report that is filed with Medicare for payment. Atala does not know how Medicare works. They left me in a lurch at a time when I have back pain, am under a doctor's care, and in possession of a PT order written by that doctor for physical therapy. They say they accept Medicare but they would not accept it. They did not offer me an ABN to sign. They acted completely irresponsible in caring for the well-being of this senior who is injured and in pain. They showed a complete lack of compassion and professional demeanor. Move on! There are more competent offices and caring therapists in the neighborhood.
