Instead of standing in line for equipment, we share and make sure everyone is taken care of. Instead of awkward silence in common areas, there is laughter and camaraderie. Instead of putting in my hour of exercise and clocking out for the day, there is constant motivation and support to better my health through nutrition challenges & resources. Everyone is cheered and celebrated equally - from the chubby girl in her first class doing the most scaled versions imaginable (that was me!) to the mutant superstar doing 48" box jumps and handstand push-ups like they're nothing (still not me, but maybe someday?). People in all walks of life and in all stages of fitness are welcomed into the fold. This community support is the foundation on which all of my accomplishments and improvements have been built. I can't say enough great things about the owners and coaches. This special place is clearly a product of their passion for helping people be their best selves. The class sizes are never too large for the coach to give everyone personal attention and instruction on the technical movements. I came in overweight, NOT in shape, and terrified of all the scary looking equipment and giant weights. But the awesome coaches and friendly classmates helped me through it. No one ever made me feel silly for having to use the training bar with no weights on it while the gal next to me is lifting a bar bigger than she is. And i didn't receive an ounce less of encouragement. Every workout i survived felt like an accomplishment, boosting my self-esteem and desire to come back. The second week was hard and reluctant. I was tired and sore. There were days I took the 'just get yourself here' very literally and told myself I'd just show up and half-ass it - but of course the motivation in the air is so infectious, it's impossible to not give it your all once you're there. By the third week, it had become a staple in my day. There are days when I'm excited and can't wait for the class, and there are other days I come in tired/stressed/sore/depressed/hungover dragging myself in and whining through the warmup, but every time I leave at the end of the class i feel like a rockstar and have no pain, am full of energy, and with a big smile on my face. And the times when a trainer notices my progress and comments on it, it sends my mood soaring even higher. In the month I've been coming (5 days a week), I've lost 13lbs and one pants size. my body feels firmer. i can see muscle definition peeking out from under the receding fat. but forget all of that (yeah that's the reason i initially signed up, but now it's only a happy side effect) now i'm more excited that I'm finally off the training bar and onto the big girl bar and adding weights to it. That i'm able to finish the workouts. That i'm already down-scaling considerably less than I was a month ago. These accomplishments make me feel better about myself. I feel stronger and more powerful... I feel confident and motivated. I feel happier and healthier. I feel good. They're the ones who like being tossed around by the wave. We also like the water pad where the water squirts or creates multiple water arcs, and kids just run around and get wet. This is the place where parents can just sit or lay under umbrellas while watching their kids. We rented a cabana once when we had family guests from Texas. There was a breastfeeding baby so we thought, a cabana would be great, and it was. the server took us to our cabana and explained everything. You really do not need to go anywhere to get food. You just text your server what you want and the server will get the food for you. We also got two free Legoland towels and a huge Legoland bag. We'll be going back as soon as it opens again for the next summer. Totally worth it.

Well it turned out that the son came out on our day but it was still cold, mid-60's. Unfortunately Chime park side was closed. Forgot when I sold this park initially to him that LEGOLAND is geared towards the younger age. As is the water park, the slides and rides are on the smaller kid age. So it should be perfect for son sons age of 5, but he has been to larger water parks and rode the big thrilling rides. So he had fun there, but he said it's bay ride slides haha. Then add on to that the wind chills and temperature. Our waterpark adventure ended pretty quickly. We did however make the rest of the day in the theme park end. By the way to go to the water park you need to also have tickets for the theme park as it's inside the theme park.

I lucked out and found a super close parking spot in the neighborhood across the street. The beach itself was VERY short compared to sand length at other beaches so people were almost on top of each other. There was a pretty intense drop off about half way down the sand so it limited space for people to put down their stuff and lay out. I'm not sure how normal it is at this spot but there was a TON of rocks. It was way too much to be able to enter the water without having them beating your feet and ankles. My friend was bleeding after trying to check out the water. The surf was also a little intense that day so I'm wondering if that had any effect on the rock situation? This was a very clean beach with restrooms at the bottom of the ramp from the street so it did have that going for it but we decided to leave and head for a beach where we could safely go into the water that day. I'll have to come back another time to get a better idea.

Adults or children: RISE is the place to go!! This review is long overdue! This past May I was in a terrible car accident that resulted in severe whiplash and a mild concussion. By the time I was able to get out of the house and to RISE three weeks later I had virtually no range of motion in my neck, was in terrible pain all the time, I was not sleeping and unable to do any of my day to day activities like cuddling my kids, cleaning my home, grocery shopping, laundry, cooking, and so much more. As a single-mom/full-time student it was devastating. I was terrified that I was not going to ever be able to get back to normal. PT with Michael changed everything. It was a slow process at first, I was in a lot of pain and scared to move. But Michael really helped me regain my range of motion and strength and after 5 months of Physical Therapy I was able to go back to be being able to live my normal life again. I still have tough days where I wake up sore or I have a tension headache but they are short lived, mostly because I do the stretches and exercises I learned from Michael. The reality is there is no way I would be where I am now without Michael's care, help, and pushing. The environment is fun, friendly, and I felt quickly at home. My daughter will still say things like, "Mom, remember when you couldn't look at me without turning your whole body." I am so immensely grateful! So much so that when my nine year old daughter needed PT for her ankle and foot I brought her to Michael. She loved going to PT and Michael gave us great advice on stretches, exercises, better soccer shoes and ankle braces and had her back on the pitch in no time! read more

My past experience with Physical Therapy hasn't been the best in general. It was in a group setting where I worked with a PT assistant and I'd only see the Physical Therapist at the end of the session for like 5 minutes. They would send me home with a paper listing exercises I should do between sessions. Rise PT is on another level, as an active adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) competitor, I've been known to get a little beat up. Normally I try to manage my own recovery, I didn't see the point of PT because of my past experience listed above. My shoulder injury turned out to be a very complex and I was unable to rehab it on my own. It started to impact my BJJ training and my overall quality of life so I decided to give PT another chance. From the start, I was wowed by the one on one attention I received from Alex Kelso PT. He was there the entire time making sure I was doing the exercises correctly. I was especially wowed by the personalized exercise videos I received via email, it provided step by step instructions of the exercises they told me to do at home. Over the past few months, my shoulder stability has significantly improved. As a result of the top-notch care, I received by Alex and the Rise PT team I was able to compete in The International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation's World Master. (the most prestigious BJJ tournament organization.) As you all can see in the picture provided I did pretty well in defending my World title. I selected Rise Physical Therapy (in Carlsbad) for osteoarthritis in both my knees. I chose Rachel because I train at San Diego Premier Training and this is one of their physical therapy locations. Rachel always said hi to me when I walked in the door even though she didn't know me. She was always very pleasant and friendly when I worked out at SDPT. So when I needed therapy, of course I wanted to talk to Rachel. As a therapist, Rachel is a true professional and aware of my needs, disabilities and problems. In addition to my knees, she also determined I needed work on my hips and balance. She is very patient and never pushes me beyond my limits. She always demonstrates the exercises she wants me to perform in clear detail. She is extremely accommodating and always asked if it was hurting my knees. When I said yes, she would sit down on the ground and assist me. She was hands on at all times. After my therapy, she would always send me a video of the exercises she wanted me to perform at home. This was very helpful and a true blessing. I was able to perform them the correct way and exactly as she demonstrated on the video. I spent a good amount of time at the Solana Beach location with Rachel Nesseth, and could not be more happy. As a college athlete with chronic shin splints and stress fractures, it was imperative that I was in the best shape to prevent further injury. Rachel was patient, friendly, and pushed me in our sessions. I had spent the previous summers with other DPTs around the country, but was blown away by how structured, personalized, and seamless my experience at RISE was. Rachel gave me regimented activities to supplement my assigned workouts, and even filmed / sent videos of these exercises - explaining their use, the best form, and what to watch out for. Another unique advantage of going to RISE was that I never got tossed around to assistants as soon as I arrived. I knew that I could build on the previous session with the same DPT each time. On top of it all, everyone who works in RISE was warm and efficient, and the environment was fun - even with other patients. I made more progress in my months with Rachel than I had with any other previous plan, and continue to use the exercises, advice, etc. that she recommended in my active lifestyle. I've been working with Tommy at the Point Loma location for approximately 4 months. He has been a god-send. I came to him in a pretty disheartened place - I was struggling with the recovery from a severe foot and ankle injury. I was determined deep down, but hadn't found a practitioner to truly support my recovery process. From Day 1, Tommy aligned with me and offered me confidence that we could make real progress. He has consistently met me where I need to be met to continue. His treatment has included hands-on soft tissue work, on-point functional movements and exercises and mental-emotional support. Some days I came in a mess - another part of my body really hurting from compensation, my foot really locked up, or just emotionally frustrated. He knew how to meet me professionally, personally, and creatively. He's seen the opportunities to forge ahead, and taken them. I came to him not able to bear full weight on my left foot, and no where near walking. Today, I jogged for the first time! He is genuinely invested and very good at what he does. I began going to Michael Hollstegge at Rise Physical Therapy in June for pain in both hips. I had suffered with hip pain for 5 years. During that time, I had visited other Physical Therapists, Chiropractors and doctors with limited results. Furthermore, my pain had become so bad that it was affecting my life terribly. Needless to say, I had almost given up that I was ever going to get better. When I first saw Michael, I had terrible pain in both hips. I knew I was in bad shape. I saw results very quickly in the first few weeks under his care my pain had reduced by 70% or so, and for the first time in years, I thought I would actually get back to normal. After 3 months, I now have almost zero pain. If my hips do get tight, Michael has taught me stretches to quickly eliminate it. Michael is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and spends 100% of the hour appointment with the patient. He took a hands on approach that involved, stretching my hip, and then working to activate muscles around the hip that I hadn't been using. He also provides a ton of useful information that educated me on exactly how to do the exercises at home. Another bonus is I'm now in great shape! I can't speak more highly of Michael and Rise, I would highly recommend him. read more

I have visited a couple different physical therapists over the past year for chronic neck soreness, and they both kind of told me to just "get back out there" after a few sessions in hopes that time would heal my pain. Nothing was working, and as a result I had become very sedentary because of the pain in my neck. As an ex college basketball player, I really wanted to get back to playing hoops and lifting weights - but my neck pain was keeping me on the sidelines. When I started seeing Geoff, I could tell that his approach was going to be different. Not only did he spend the full hour session with me, but he was very concerned with my personal goals, and tailored my rehab program accordingly. With each session, we progressed and integrated basketball type movements into my regime. Geoff prescribed exercises that not only helped me become pain free, but helped restore confidence in my own body to the point that I've been able to get back to working out regularly without any restrictions. This review is for the specific physical therapist Neilvon Langas. I had gone through physical therapy for my shoulder injury but it had not worked very well, it was months (5 months) of pain and frustration of not knowing how to correctly handle my injury. After just one appointment with Neil Lang I instantly felt a positive shift, he knew exactly how to explain my injury to me in simple terms (I'm not in the medical field so this was a huge help). I felt confident in knowing how to better handle my injury, after each appointment with Neil I noticed that my injured shoulder was getting stronger and stronger. It also helps that Neil is a cool guy, easy to make conversation with making physical therapy sessions go by with ease. Neil really knows his stuff, one session with him and this will be quickly observed. He goes by the notion "Teach a man how to fish and, you feed him for a lifetime". What Neil teaches is not just for the physical therapy room, it helps in everyday life. RISE has literally been a life saver for me. I had two ligament reconstruction surgeries within a year and without the dedication, professionalism and expertise in therapy, I wouldn't have progressed as far as I have. Alex is hands down the best physical therapist. He takes the time to explain the medical terminology, he is attentive to any pain and limitations, and his exercises are tailored specific to the patient. Although I have worked with Alex through both my surgeries, David and Tommy are great as well. The main theme you find with RISE is that their main objective is to get you back to being physical fit as soon as possible- no nonsense and no gimmicks. Of course while doing so they also manage to establish a tight rapport with all their patients. I also need to say the front office staff is exceptional, especially TQ. He always greets with with a smile and goes way beyond to makes sure appointments are made at the most convenient time possible. read more

I was referred to Rise Therapy by my primary doctor for frozen shoulder. Having never been to PT, I didn't know what to expect. Let alone know what frozen shoulder was. Tommie and Katie were amazing with a wealth of knowledge! They both took the time to help educate me on how, what and when a shoulder can freeze. Tommie brought out books to show me what was going on inside my shoulder. They both talked me through every motion, sent me video's of each exercise, and provided easy to remember reminders on how to perform activities on my own so I didn't re-injure myself.... "Engage my muscle"! The office had such a positive and friendly atmosphere, very flexible with my work schedule and everyone had such a compassionate demeanor that was very comforting. Plus a great sense of humor! I had ~10 sessions, have my range of motion back and can now enjoy my sports activity without pain. Thank you Tommie and Katie for taking such good care of me. read more

RISE Physical Therapy Loved it I came to Rise Physical Therapy due to a torn rotator cuff that I was sure needed surgery. I had no use of my right arm and the pain was shutting down my right side. Navid convinced me that I could avoid surgery and to give him a try in making my body whole again. I did not believe him, but reluctantly began therapy to try and avoid surgery. As I saw him working on my whole body, not just my arm and shoulder, I could see how everything began coming together and the healing process was evident. Today I have full, complete and even more strength in my arm and shoulder, and my right side is balanced with the left. I cannot thank him enough and would highly recommend Rise Physical Therapy! Also, I got to work with Dr. Alex for several sessions and he is top notch as well! Dr. Alex Kelso has been a wonderful and insightful resource for me. I suffered a major knee and ankle injury as a teenager, and I'm now in my forties. Although I do my best to stay active and fit, I deal with fairly constant pain in my foot and ankle during weight bearing activities, including walking. Additionally, because of my lower leg complications, the chain reaction of tightness in my lower back creeps up on me from time to time. Dr. Kelso has provided me several daily pain-prevention exercises and flexibility movements that have helped tremendously. Additionally, he conducted an advanced analysis of my walking gait to examine inefficiencies and explore ways to improve my ability to walk without pain. Dr. Kelso has experienced joint injuries of his own, so he has compassion and understanding to combine with his high level of knowledge in the field of physical therapy. As an active, 60-something, I've had my share of injuries from sports as well as back and hip pain from fairly acute scoliosis. I've gone to several physical therapists over the years and most of them have a "one size fits all" approach that just doesn't work for me. Dr. Kelso understood how the scoliosis causes my body dynamics to differ from the norm and that I heal differently than a 20-year old. He also understood my goals after injury. He designed a dynamic exercise regimen that got me back in the gym quickly (and skiing and yoga), while minimizing the risk of re-injury. He is very pleasant and personable but always professional. I would recommend him regardless of your age or extent of therapy needed. Note: This is the ONLY PT group I've ever been to where you always work with the therapist and don't get handed off to an aide after the initial evaluation. That makes an incredible difference! read more

I have been a patient of Michael's for post-op treatment from both hip and knee surgeries. Michael is extremely knowledgeable and caring. He has not only worked one on one with me, constantly listening to feedback, but he has also communicated with my surgeon, tailoring a plan specifically for me and my needs, especially given that I have had multiple surgeries in a short amount of time. Michael has worked to create a comprehensive plan for long term recovery, including stretches, strength training, and range of motion exercises. He has also provided me with videos of exercises to continue at home to aide in my recovery. Everyone at RISE physical therapy has been wonderful. Scheduling has been easy and they have helped me work with my insurance. I would highly recommend RISE and Michael as a physical therapist. I wish I could give more stars to RISE. Dr. Alex is amazing! He is professional, caring, friendly, and actually makes PT a fun experience. He makes sure you are aware of what you're doing and why/how it impacts your body. I went in for Patello Femoral Syndrome with my knee and by the end of the second treatment I could feel a difference already. I had spent the previous month in pain and getting weaker - to the point I could barely walk. My doctor brushed me off and thankfully a friend recommended I go to RISE. In the process of fixing my knee, he noticed other issues with my ankles and hips and immediately put me on a program to fix those as well. I now walk better without any foot, ankle, knee, or hip pain that I had been experiencing the past couple of years! Totally worth the drive from Escondido. I started physical therapy at RISE to prepare for an upcoming ACL reconstruction knee surgery. Although I was a bit apprehensive about how active I could be with an injury, Rachel was hands down fantastic. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to physiological function and mobility (this girl seriously knows her stuff!), she is encouraging and perceptive. She tailored a physical therapy routine that was both effective and enjoyable, listening to my preferences, yet challenging me to achieve more each week. I'm in great shape and prepared for a quick recovery, thanks to Rachel. I love that RISE sends personalized videos that show exactly how to do the recommended exercises. I started working with Neilvon 2 weeks after my hip arthroscopy for a labral tear. From the start I noticed he was very attentive, informative, and cared about his patients health and getting them back to 100%. We worked together for 4 months and each session I felt like I was getting stronger from his therapies and advice. He would give me homework to do throughout the week for my hip. It was important to do the exercises everyday to see results from the therapy. If I had questions he would answer them and understand why i was doing a certain exercise or a certain area hurt. As a soccer player I needed to get on my feet as soon as possible and Neilvon gave me the tools to start playing again. From not being able to walk to going back to playing at a high pace I could not be any more greatful for his service. read more

I'm from out of town, but come to San Diego often to visit my cousin. I'm a runner and one of my favorite things to do is run the beach every morning. On one of my many runs I experienced some hip discomfort. RISE was recommended to me, so I went in for an evaluation. Let me just say this place is a breath of fresh air. I worked in the physical therapy industry many years ago and have some knowledge in different techniques. Dr. Navids' approach to therapy is unique and encompasses everyday function. After only two sessions and take home exercises, I feel amazing and back to my normal self. I have to say the staff were so sweet and accommodating. As a long time endurance athlete, I have seen my share of Pts and Brittany is by far the best PT I've ever worked with. My gripe with a lot of places is that they work on you for a few minutes, pass you off to an assistant and send you home with a few exercises. For this reason, I hadn't visited a PT in a few years, but had to find a new one after a recent knee surgery. I lucked out with Brittany! She spends a solid amount of time manually working on me and then goes through exercises with me for the remainder of our time together. The knee I had surgery on is fantastic thanks to Brittany's treatment and guidance. I've had other injuries since then and continue to see her for them and have had success with those, as well. RISE Physical Therapy in Solana Beach is providing the best services I have ever experienced in the last three years. I have some big issue with my neck and lower back. I tried a couple of physical therapy clinics in San Diego areas and almost gave up the treatment. My son went to see Michael in RISE Solana beach branch owing to his lower back issue. Then he convinced me to try. Michael is doing an excellent job to treat my neck and lower back issue! Another good doctor is Martin and he treated patient very detail oriented. Now I refer my wife to meet those two doctors! The front desk is also very professional. Aaron is helping us and remind me every time when I forgot to come.
