I was seeing another doctor for my problem for about a year, with no success. I was referred to Dr. Rad, who suggested a conservative treatment at first, which relieved many of the symptoms but ultimately did not solve the problem. Surgery was the last option & I must say it appears to have done the trick. Recovery, which was described to me as "What-was-I-thinking-of-pain," was not as awful as I expected & frankly, pretty easy. I find Dr. Rad to be kind, knowledgeable & responsive to questions. When it comes to lack of professionalism and overall care, this place takes the cake of all cakes. I made an appointment and was scheduled for about a month out. I explained to the person on the phone that I had heavy rectal bleeding, clearly a concerning situation. I was instructed by this office to bring my colonoscopy records, so I requested them. Fast forward to a day before my appointment, I get a voicemail from Teresa stating that my appointment for the next day was cancelled because the doctor had a "long surgery." I had already requested a day off work for this. The day of my cancelled appointment, I get another voicemail from Teresa reminding me to bring my colonoscopy records later that day for my appointment. I called and called, and finally Teresa picked up the phone. She told me that my appointment actually wasn't cancelled. So I make my way to my appointment, driving all the way from San Bernardino. I was 19 minutes away from this office when I get a call from another woman stating that the doctor is still in surgery and won't be able to see me. You mean to tell me I took a day off work and drove all the way from the Inland Empire to be cancelled on because this doctor hired people in his office with the IQ of a hamster? I work in the legal field, and we would NEVER schedule a client on the day of a deposition because it is unknown how long a deposition will go for. Why schedule me for an appointment on a day the doctor was going to have a "long surgery?" I was given the option to reschedule, but I didn't take it because I didn't feel like requesting another day off at work and spending $30+ in gas again. I have nothing to say about the doctor because I never met him (thank you, incompetent staff), but he should be careful with who he hires because someone as negligent as his office staff could land him in a pretty lawsuit with their lack of coordination and patient care. read more

Dr Rad answers all your questions with kindness and patience. He is meticulous is his work. He's working in a part of your body where you want a doctor that takes pride in his work. The Dr may be the best at his specialty, but that clearly isn't running or maintaining a capable front of office staff. Has anyone heard of doing a Post Op appointment before a surgery to accommodate the Dr's schedule? I saw the Dr and received diagnosis that I needed a procedure. There was no follow up for 2 weeks. I then started calling and leaving messages only a week later to be told the scheduler was out of office but that they would follow up in the next 2 days. 2 weeks later I received a call! The first opening was over a month away, but I scheduled it. I even noted that is a holiday, and the scheduler said "he only works 2 Mondays a month" and was assured it was fine. I second guessed the conversation and left two additional messages, trying to confirm he would work on the holiday and never heard anything. I spoke to employer and got everything squared away. Now 3 weeks from operation date I get a call that he doesn't work holidays and my procedure is being pushed back again. The icing on the cake is 30 minutes later the same scheduler calls to discuss the possibility of keeping my post op appointment. She doesn't recognize I'm the same person or the inept idea of having a post op appointment prior to the operation. Sorry if the front office is this remedial, I'll find another surgeon. Even if it means waiting longer. read more

I began seeing Dr. Rad, several years ago at the time he seemed knowledgeable and caring. In time it became more difficult to book an appointment without it being changed. I'd a really hard time getting timely results, all in all the follow up was poor. Rectal and colon issues can be sensitive and embarrassing, to discuss,- it's why some ignore symptoms. Its important to address problem's as quickly as possible and move on. I think he's office is very courteous and I know he's very busy, at times when your too busy to follow up with the patients you do have, it may be best not to take on more. read more

Dr Rad was recommended by my Gastroenterologist in HB. I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis which pierced my abdominal wall and created abscesses in May. I was on antibiotics costing $200 day until my surgery which was performed in July by Dr Rad after 2 abscesses.. There was so much bad tissue, he had to remove a part of my colon and rectum. I was left with a Illiostomy and temp bag hoping everything would heal. It took 4 months and Dr Rad reconnected my intestine over Thanksgiving and I'm back to normal now. The nurses at Hoag said he was one of the best doctors and is highly respected! There were times of high anxiety. Let me tell you, you must take one day at a time; everything including your job, your condition, and even life is temporary. Bobby is an excellent surgeon and I had my doubts at times but he is truly a great doctor and person. I can highly recommend Dr Rad. He is very caring and highly responsible. First of all, I have to say that Dr. Rad has exceptional bed-side manner and was very professional throughout my whole ordeal. This particular review is for his receptionist and because I am dissatisfied with the outcome of my treatment. I was originally referred to Dr. Rad by the the Student Health Center at UCI back in 2010. I had surgery and was back to school the next day. I healed up and everything seemed to be going fine. I was a little surprised by the amount I had to pay out of pocket (in addition to the 20% not covered by insurance) since there were miscellaneous fees that went unmentioned and are not covered by insurance. As a broke college student with no financial support and living off my savings, I really struggled financially from this. In the end, I was glad to finally have been able to take care of this condition that has bothering me for so long. Unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion that the surgery was not a success. Just a few months later, the problem resurfaced. I finally decided that today was the day I was going to call back and see what my options were. I also wanted to see if perhaps I could get some kind of discount on a repeat procedure, since the initial surgery did not fix the problem, and also because I no longer have health insurance. This was another reason why I was reluctant to call for so long. I called at around 3pm today (9/25/13) and was appalled by the receptionist's lack of empathy or concern. When I tried to explain my situation, I was told to schedule an appointment to see the doctor. She didn't ask me any questions, and seemed to be more interested in getting me to pay the consulation fee. According to her, it is "about $250." I'm not even sure what she meant by that. Does she not know, or is there a separate fee for different patients? Anyhow, I was hoping to have Dr. Rad do my surgery again, but since I can't even speak with him without paying the $250, I'm going to have to pass. I recently had surgery for colon cancer, nobody can be prepared for this kind of diagnosis. I researched a surgeon in Orange County and came upon Dr. Rad. I called for an appointment and met with Dr. Rad we talked about my surgery and he completely made me feel at ease. He is the quintessential professional but with a kind demeanor. I had laparoscopic surgery with a Da Vinci robot which is minimally invasive. I was up and walking the next day, Dr. Rad was very attentive at my bedside and explained all my questions. He definitely saved my life and I can't thank him enough. I would highly recommend this talented surgeon, I went in today to remove my staples and he gave me an awesome result. Stage one cancer! This doctor has the worst mannerism. He is rude, crude and short tempered. He asked about pain and when my sister said she was in major pain after surgery. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Rad! I suffered from a fairly common problem for many years thinking there wasn't any solution because that's what I was told by two different GP's! They both told me that I'd just have to live with it? After one visit to Dr. Rad, I was on my way to recovery and I'm happy to say that my problem is 95% cured and I'm confident that I'll get to 100%. I highly recommend Dr. Rad! I went to see him for an anal fissure. Anyone who's had one of these little devils knows how much they can hurt. Dr. Rad clearly laid out my options, giving me the upsides and downsides of each, and didn't push surgery. Although I tried the medication route first I opted for surgery in the end and had a lateral internal sphincterotomy. The day after surgery was an amazing experience. There was some relatively minor surgical site pain when I had a bowel movement but there was none of the awful burning fissure pain. I had no incontinence problems. About five days after surgery I was largely pain free when having a bowel movement and was also off of any laxatives, so things were essentially normal. I can only relate my own experience and I can imagine others might respond differently, but I had as good an experience here as you could hope for. Dr. Rad is skilled, straightforward, and caring. Never got to see the Dr. so I can not comment on his bed side manor. I called his front office to see if our 11:45 appointment was still a go. The office Gal said he was not showing up till 11:20 and that I should show up on time even though there were four patents ahead of me. She said the Dr. goes through patients quickly and even if I were to reschedule at a later date first appointment that this Dr. is not prompt. After waiting an hour I simply gave up. I was referred to Dr. Rad by another doctor and I was a little concerned when I saw his rating on Yelp. When I read the negative reviews I felt a little better. I know, that sounds weird. One of the complaints was about Dr. Rad not wanting to do a procedure because he wasn't familiar with some aspect. I actually ended up at Dr. Rad's office because the doctor I saw for a second opinion didn't feel it was in her capabilities to address my issue and I'm thankful!! Just because a person has a scalpel and medical degree doesn't mean they should just go around cutting people. Dr. Rad has been the most amazing doctor for my husband. My husband has extreme anxiety and suffers immensely because of it. Normally, surgeons have no patience for people like him. When Dr. Rad told my husband he would need surgery, he panicked. For the next month and a half or so my husband would make appointments twice a week to go and see him just to talk. Each time my husband would ask the same questions, and Dr. Rad was always so patient and kind and even managed to make my husband laugh! He even took the time to call and speak to my husbands psychiatrist to make sure he was doing alright.
