Last year I became deathly ill while traveling in Mexico and found a doctor who spoke some English and put me on IV fluids for days and then antibiotics 24x7 with 24 hours a day of nursing care. My health kept getting worse. I couldn't stand up or take a step. I couldn't even swing my swollen legs out of bed. My lungs filled up with fluids and I couldn't catch my breath or think straight. I felt that I was very close to death. When my condition worsened I was put in a gated, locked senior living center for rehabilitation but there was no rehab available and the other patients were placed there for care and feeding until death. At some point I was told that my vital signs had crashed and I was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital where I spent several days in the ICU getting tested and being given 2 units of blood and 2 units of plasma while running up a $10,000 bill. I became afraid that I would die in Mexico because the doctor didn't seem to know what to do to help me recover and our communication was difficult because of the language barrier. With my local friends I staged an emergency escape from the locked senior "rehab facility and flew to Portland and went directly to the VA Hospital ER. I was admitted to the hospital and put on new meds. I spent weeks in the hospital and within a few days I could sense that my condition was improving. After weeks in the hospital I was sent to the VA rehab center in Vancouver, Washington where I stayed for another month learning how to walk again. Then I moved to a Senior Independent Living Center for several more months before I was finally able to move into my own home, able to live alone and care for myself. Everyone I met in the Portland VA system welcomed me and treated me like a welcome guest. The care, kindness and compassion were wonderful. They saved my life and thanked me for the privilege. I couldn't be more grateful. (Aside from the quality of the food) I feel that I got great quality life saving care from the staff and the entire system.

Your eyes see one star...now here's the truth....minus 10 for the Vancouver clinic!…read more I had a hip issue following a replacement (2014) and revision (2017). I was having real issues with pain and mobility...but I was treated like some addict when I spoke of the pain I was having. And, not by one, but by two (2) VA medical professionals! They told me that they did not believe me...in essence, I am a liar. Medical professionals...those who are supposed to have you in mind. So...I found out today that the problem I am experiencing is that the prosethetic post is freaking moving and that is what is causing the pain. So, the VA and its "Marque de Sade" approach to Primary Care Medicine sucks...they called me a liar and it becomes obvious these Medicos are suffering from severe "Cranial rectumitis." And we are supposed to think these people are heros? These people are there for a paycheck and do not care about you. And, when the goverment wanted you they drafted you...now the screw you. Not only was she treated quickly, every single individual we came into contact with was awesome! From the kind woman (Sharon I believe) who processed our daughter's intake to her first and second nurse (I'm awful, I'm spacing on names), to the gentleman (Mike) who took her X-rays, and Doctor Brian (who treated our sweet daughter with expert care) - everyone who helped tonight was pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable! To tell you we were blown away by Brian's bedside manner is an understatement. Not only did he treat our daughter's ankle, he was very engaged... taking the time to ask questions about her school performance, her interest in sports and even about her plans for college. After reading the awful reviews online we were prepared for the worst tonight but we couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. Thank you so much to the entire team who helped us tonight. If we have another need for after hours care, this urgent care will be our first choice. Bravo Team PeaceHealth on a job very well done!

Obstetrics and Gynecology…read more My experience with Dr. Duggirala was extremely disappointing due to lack of follow-through and communication. At my appointment on February 13, 2026, she told me she would have another physician review my MIR report and would get back to me within three days with a plan and referral to the appropriate specialist. That never happened. I followed up through the patient portal 4 times asking who I was being referred to and what the plan was. I repeatedly received messages from staff saying she was out of the office/on-call and would respond within 48 hours, yet I never received a response from the doctor herself. When medical issues require timely care, patients depend on their doctors to follow through. Instead, I was left without answers and had to begin searching for specialists on my own. I sent a message through the portal asking to refer me to the specialist I found myself and still no response. As of March 11, 2026, I still have not received any follow-up or referral. I would not recommend this provider based on my experience. This is not ok.

Dr Kozinski came in the middle of the night to do an angiogram that confirmed a SCAD. I was moved to the Cardiac ICU where the entire team was wonderful. While I can't remember the name of the great nighttime nurse (sorry!), daytime Nurse Mary and NP Jackie were caring and super informative. I've forgotten so many names, but I want to mention that the young man who put in my second IV line (the first was at a clinic) did it painlessly. Also, the professional who did my echocardiogram was excellent, and the staff member who took my food orders was so considerate and helpful. Everyone was so welcoming and respectful to me, my same-sex spouse, and my sister. Their care and treatment were exemplary. I was able to be discharged after only one night in the CICU. THANK YOU, PEACE HEALTH!!

When the paramedics ( AMR) arrived, I repeatedly told them that the medication I had taken was on top of my dresser and asked them to bring it with me to the hospital so the doctors could identify what I had taken. They did not retrieve the medication. When I arrived at PeaceHealth, I repeatedly told the doctors and nurses that I was having an allergic reaction or severe adverse reaction to a prescription medication prescribed by my doctor. Despite my repeated statements, I felt that they assumed I was under the influence of illegal street drugs. I provided both blood and urine samples, which I later learned were negative for any drugs except THC. Instead of receiving the treatment I believed I needed, I was discharged from the hospital and sent home in an Uber or Lyft. At that time, I was in what I believe was a psychotic state. I was hallucinating, extremely confused, and unable to think clearly. In my opinion, I was not capable of making informed decisions about my own medical care. After I arrived home, I began experiencing chest pain and called 911 again. When the paramedics arrived, they asked whether I wanted to return to the hospital. Because of my mental condition, I do not believe I was capable of making a sound medical decision. Again, I told the paramedics (AMR) that I had suffered an allergic reaction to the prescription medication on top of my dresser. I had also told the doctors and nurses at PeaceHealth that I believed I was having a reaction to a medication prescribed by my physician, but I felt that no one believed me. During my first visit to PeaceHealth, I was taken to the MRI department. A nurse RN (Kristi Castle) wearing blue scrubs with blonde hair pulled back became upset because I would not get into the MRI machine. At the time, I was hallucinating, my thoughts were racing, and I did not understand what was happening to me. I believe I was experiencing a psychotic episode. The nurse documented that I refused treatment, but I do not believe I was mentally capable of understanding or consenting to medical decisions at that time. When I returned to PeaceHealth a second time, I was placed in a room with a nurse. I repeatedly asked to see a doctor, but instead I was escorted back into the waiting room. While sitting there, I genuinely believed I was dying. I felt detached from reality and believed that the people around me were no longer alive. I returned to the nurses' station and told the staff that something was seriously wrong with my brain. I even said that I wondered whether I had Alzheimer's disease because I could not remember anything and my memories were coming and going. I recall a staff member responding, "Oh, now you're diagnosing yourself." I tried to explain that I was losing my memory and that something was terribly wrong. I was then sent to another staff member and again explained that I was having serious problems with my brain. I remember being told, "I've been watching you, David. Go sit down over there." Feeling desperate, I went outside the hospital and begged people for help. Some of the individuals appeared to be hospital employees, but no one stopped to assist me. Eventually, I was able to contact my girlfriend, who took me to Kaiser Permanente. I am incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Kaiser. They listened to me, believed that something was seriously wrong, treated me with compassion and professionalism, and provided the care I needed. After receiving treatment, I improved significantly and was able to return home within a couple of hours. To the best of my knowledge, both the PeaceHealth and Kaiser drug tests were negative for illegal drugs, with the exception of THC.
