Babylon Builders did a fantastic job! I'm very pleased with the work they did in giving my backyard a complete makeover. My backyard was overrun with weeds and nearly dead trees. Ron and his crew came and removed all the weeds, the old trees, a tree stump, an old cement border, and old irrigation. They installed new irrigation with valves and a timer, plus new cement borders around the entire fenceline, three new trees, flowers and shrubs, and finally - sod. I purchased a deal through Angie's list. Ron called me right away and scheduled an appointment with me. He was very sensitive to my availability, which I appreciated. Ron sat down with me and listened to my "wants." I gave him my budget, and without hesitation, he said he could work within it. He came up with some great suggestions and told me that he'd get back to me with an estimate and design. To my surprise, the design came in much earlier than expected! Ron has been outstanding through the entire project. The full project was sprinkler installation and replacing my entire yard with new grass. He personally came to our house to walk through the project and plan. His crew during the project were professional and courteous and answered any questions I had. This time I asked him to have my kitchen floor and countertop remodeled as well as my bathroom floor, countertop and tiles. He helped guide me in choosing the right materials to blend with the interior of my home. It only took a couple of weeks to finish everything after we made our selection. Work started February 15th and finished February 28th. Babylon Builders is experienced, knowledgeable and very respectful. The crew were very courteous, left the job clean at the end of every day and did not disturb the other areas of the home. This is a company that cares! Thank you Roney and thanks to your crew." I purchased a deal (?) through Angie's list last fall. The initial appointment was cancelled an hour before the designer was to arrive. The designer (Chris) wanted to reschedule for three weeks later. I really had to push for a more timely appointment. So we met for about 45 minutes. I walked him around the yard pointing out where I wanted things, gave him a written outline of what I wanted to accomplish, and a folder of examples I had clipped from magazines. Chris said he would have a plan in a week or so. Nothing. Chris did not respond to my multiple requests for an update. I finally called Mr. George who said his company had been hit by illness and they would get the plan to me if I could just be patient. OK. This stuff happens. Nothing. After more calls Chris did finally e-mail me the plans. Perhaps it was because there was such a long time between the visit and when he did the plan but there practically nothing in the plan I had asked for. An area of the yard that needed no work had everything torn out, there were schrubs where I had asked for tall trees for privacy, a seating area I had requested was totally missing and more. I again called Mr. George, who was not so nice this time, to tell him the plan was nothing like what I had discussed with Chris. Mr. George informed me it was a very nice plan, totally missing the point it was not what I asked for and was not going to work for my yard. After repeating again what I was looking for, Mr. George asked if I would be "satisfied" if he added trees for privacy to the plan. I said I would wait to see the plan (thinking this guy is not listening). I need not have worried. Nothing. I finally left on negative review on Angie's list. Mr. George than e-mailed me to ask if another attempt could be made at the yard plan so the negative review could be removed. Not hopeful but wanting to be fair I agreed. I e-mailed the outline of what I was looking for. Mr. George replied the next day saying they had "given it a sincere effort" but it just didn't work out. In clarifying with him what the problem was it seems Chris had told him I liked the design and now I was telling him I didn't. Reality check: I never spoke to the designer after he e-mailed the plans and I had earlier told Mr. George the plan was not going to work. So I asked for a refund of my $299. Mr. Georges counteroffer was $150 if the negative Angie's list review removed and I not leave any other negative reviews. He justified the partial refund as he had made "multiple" changes to the design. Reality check: He made NO changes to the design even when he promised to. With this boldfaced lie I lost what little sympathy I had left. I refused the counteroffer to keep the Angie's list review posted and write the Yelp review. That is how strongly I feel that people need to be warned about this company. I used them because they were on Angie's list. I should have checked the Yelp reviews. They were much more accurate. This may have been a good company at one point but no more. read more

We purchased a landscape design "deal" through Angie's List. After several attempts to schedule an initial meeting with Babylon, both of which were cancelled by Babylon, we cancelled because their inability to meet with us nearly a month after we paid for the deal was not lining up with our timeline for getting the job done. Within hours my wife received a personal email from the owner threatening us because of her review (which only rated them as average due to their poor communication). The owner lied on Angie's List stating he had wasted money coming to our house when in fact no one has EVER been to our house from this company. Sooooo glad we didn't actually do business with this company. Completely unprofessional and unscrupulous. If there was a zero star rating, this is the time I would use it. read more

Very happy with the performance of Babylon Gardens. Good communication throughout, and a first class crew performed the work. I met with Rony and after a little back and forth on the project scope was able to schedule the work. Originally planned for 5 days, Rony's foreman and his team completed the work in 3 days (there had been a weather delay and they were as interested in getting the work done on time as I was)! Rony's foreman Juan knew his stuff, and truly went the extra mile, including performing some extra work which Rony covered under the original quote - greatly appreciated! Specifically, when Rony and I walked the job, we had agreed that rather than installing extra drainage, Rony would ensure the crew graded the slope down to the existing drain. Juan determined that was not the right way to do it, and installed a new drain in an ideal location. He also laid down some pavers which was outside the scope. It was just a few, to create a little accent where there would have been a dirt void between my side yard where a concrete walk was laid, and the sod that was installed in the back yard. Again, Juan did this, and even though it wasn't a lot of extra work, it was above and beyond the scope, but illustrates to me that the company and this crew is more interested in customer satisfaction and exemplary work than just the money. I will definitely call Rony the next time I need work done! read more

Ron submitted a detailed estimate within a week, and I submitted any questions I had after seeing the drawings and plans. Contracted with Babylon Gardens (BGL) to do extensive backyard design and construction. While this project had a few rocky moments it generally went well and the outcome is quite satisfactory. I'm in San Jose, and Babylon Gardens is in Riverbank, so we had to deal with location logistics. The site was not accessible for heavy equipment so there was lots of pickaxe and wheelbarrow work. I particularly wanted pavers (not stamped concrete) and some custom brick planters. And I got exactly what I asked for. Ron, the owner/contractor, was cooperative and easy to communicate with. He was on-site most days, and always reachable by phone. I didn't like the cost (who does?) and it took longer than I wanted (again, a common complaint), but I am happy with the outcome and that's the most important thing. read more

It went great! What was once just dirt and weeds is now beautiful land and hardscape! Roney was very responsive to our requests and ideas and quickly came back with a design we were exited to get implemented. Within a few days a full crew was on-site to start the work. As the work started there were a few areas where his foreman Juan recommended modifications. These modifications were very positive and above and beyond the original agreement and at no additional cost to us, which made my husband very happy! Those included replacement of 3 steps to our deck from wood to concrete, increased length of the sidewalk, improved fencing beyond the original design, some additional irrigation work and fixing the base of another set of stairs to regulation height by adding flagstone. Juan had great vision for how to make these changes so the outcome went from beautiful to outstanding! And the crown jewel of this whole project is a custom, unique fire pit that I found only as a picture from the internet. Juan pulled this off with no formal instructions, just a solitary picture and his own creativity! We could not be happier and certainly recommend Babylon Garden Landscaping. read more
