This review is long overdue, but I definitely have to warm all Boston travelers with kids to NOT use this service. The owner is so rude, both on the phone and on email. I attempted not once or twice but three times to confirm my reservation and because I left the "@" off in my email address - even though my cc info was all correct, he denied my request. I resent it again and included the @ this time, but my request was too late now and they couldn't deal with us. Thankfully I quickly purchased a car seat on Craigslist. It ended up being cheaper and easier than dealing with such a rude person. I also recommend using amazon prime for a pack n play, much cheaper and cleaner! read more

We were on a two week trip to boston and asked for a double scroller. The man got us the stroller, very nasty and not clean also not to mention that it is BROKEN. Very unprofessional, and doesn't know how to deal with customers. After we called him to tell him the stroller is broken, we were promised to get a full refund when he picked it up. It took him two weeks after messaging and calling and been ignoring the whole time. We only got 20% of the refund. I called to ask for the rest of the money, the man was super rude doesn't know how to talk to a woman and closed it in my face and asked never to call him again while he's enjoying the money he owns us. After realizing we forgot to bring our car seat on the plane, we scrambled at our layover to figure out how to get a car seat arranged for us at Logan Airport in Boston. We got in touch with Thomas at Baby A Go just before boarding our plane and he assured us we were taken care of. I quickly called my sister with the website, and sure enough they connected at the airport just before we arrived and we were all set. He said he'd take care of us and he did. I would use this service again in the future if I needed any baby equipment while visiting my family in Boston. read more

Like many of the other reviewers, I had a horrible customer service experience with Tom. He delivered a stroller with the storage compartment down below so badly damaged it was un-usable. When I called to request a different one...he said none were available. Upon the conclusion of my rental, I asked for a small discount for the inconvenience. He ignored my email. When I sent it again, he simply replied "We disagree" & provided no discount, no coupon for future rental discount, nothing. I used my AMEX for the rental & opened a dispute with them regarding my charges with Baby's A-Go. In the back & forth in the "investigation," Tom boldly lied. I had evidence to corroborate my claim at which point AMEX reversed all the charges. I don't know the outcome on AMEX's end, but I hope they collected their money back from Tom the crook. His website clearly states they deliver to many towns and cities throughout Massachusetts, but when contacted, states that they can only deliver to Logan Airport. I had to rent a car seat for the first time for someone else, and instead of trying to help me figure out which seat was necessary, the owner tried to make me feel stupid for not being an expert on car seats and car seat rental. He answered all my questions sarcastically and spoke down to me for not knowing the child's exact weight. Website specifically states they will meet you at the airport when you arrive, but after you make a reservation you find out that's only between the hours of 8-3 M-Th and 8-12 F-S. My family was visiting the Boston area for a family wedding and I had my 2 yo. I did not want to have to lug a stroller/toys on the plane, so we rented from Baby's A-Go. When we arrived at our hotel at 6pm (Hilton), the items were already in our room! we were quite pleased. When we left, we just texted them and left the items with the concierge. It was a very easy and pleasant experience. I would recommend them to other families traveling to the Boston area. read more

I read all the negative reviews and my hope is to write one that is fair, because there were things I really liked about the experience, and things that could be improved upon. Bottom line is we are glad we rented from Baby's a Go because bringing our stroller from Pittsburgh to Boston via airplane would have been difficult. I called to request a double stroller/sit and stand via phone. Tom answered and called back and answered my questions before I was ready to reserve one. Noticing the website was pretty dated, despite security badges that told me the site was secure, I still felt better reserving by phone. This was not a problem for Tom, though it probably was a bit more inconvenient than if I had just replied to his email and paid online. (Echoing one of the other reviewer's comments, after I had submitted the online form with all of my info, I also received an email asking for the same information once again. I did not understand why; that was odd, and confusing.) Another downside to the reservation process was not receiving a confirmation email with date reserved, time, location of dropoff, etc. All I received was a confirmation number via email. It would have been easier if I had a received a confirmation email with this information so that I could refer to it when I forgot what time the deliver would be made, and to where, rather than calling to confirm upon our arrival. When we arrived at Logan Airport, I called Baby's A Go to check again when the stroller would be delivered. (Like I said, I had forgotten.) It had already arrived at our hotel, which was excellent. We didn't have to wait for it at all. We took the stroller out that night and realized that the cargo basket underneath was detaching from the stroller. This would be a problem because the only way we planned to get around the whole six days we were in Boston was by foot and subway. We would need the extra space underneath for sure. I called Tom and explained that it looked like someone had stapled the basket to the fabric of the stroller as a quick fix, and that it wasn't holding. Tom was apologetic and actually purchased a brand new Graco stroller for us to use and dropped it off at our hotel the next day because he didn't have any others in stock. I was so thankful! He evidently had to buy the stroller and assemble it that night because it was clear that it was brand new. We used the stroller all day, every day for the next 5 days going to-and-from downtown, to our hotel, to the beach, etc. I was thankful not to have to bring our own stroller from home because I get grossed out on the subway, and was glad not to have to drag our home stroller through the sometimes filthy subway elevators. For the evening we had to use the original ripped stroller, I did notice that the seat was quite dirty, but I'm sure my home stroller seat is, too. What happened was the seat got wet with water from a splash fountain, and to dab it up I used a white hotel towel. The towel was brownish when I removed it from the stroller seat. But this isn't surprising, considering the stroller had been appreciated so often that the basket had ripped. This is understandable to me, however, and should be understandable to others. We all are ok with dirt as long as it is our own, but you have to expect to take on a degree of other people's dirt if you are renting a stroller. Another thing about the cleanliness of Baby's A Go's rental items: I had been given a brand new stroller, so we were sure to take excellent care of it and wipe it down before we returned it. It was black, so we were careful not to wear white sunscreen while in it. We wanted it to look as close to new as possible, and it still did look brand new when we returned it despite having drug it around the city for a week. (I was a Girl Scout, and that was one of our mottos: leave things in better condition than you found it.) I know we are all consumers, and we come to expect people to clean up after us when we are on vacation, but if we all took care of each other's things BETTER than we take care of our own, the world would be a cleaner place. As for the friendliness of Tom, yes he was a bit brusque in our interactions, but that was not problematic for me, it was even expected, especially when communicating via email and text. Called and reserved a crib for delivery making sure to ask about delivery and pick up times. We were flying into Boston at night and asked to make sure the crib could be delivered around 8PM. We were told on the phone that delivery at that time wouldn't be an issue. Was then told after making a reservation that delivery couldn't be done after 3PM. They are just trying to take your money on reservations and then make you cancel. read more

I called the company today because I was thinking of renting a car seat from them during our upcoming trip to Boston. Tom answered the phone in a very unprofessional manner and then seemed immediately annoyed that a potential customer was calling. I spent an incredibly unpleasant few minutes on the phone with him before realizing that this was not a company or a person I wanted to do business with. Why anyone with such a nasty attitude would choose to open a business that deals with the needs of children and families is a mystery to me since he clearly has distain for us. read more

I was on my way to Boston from San Francisco and tried to rent a stroller for a baby, which in San Francisco the week before worked out very well. Upon landing in Boston I filled in the form they had on their website with all the details (arrival time, name of the hotel, etc.) and got an email back with a ton of questions and terms of agreement, and moreover exactly the same questions that I answered already the day before. And they wanted me to send them the cc details by email. When I wrote them back with all the credit card details but stating that I didn't have the time to fill in all the questions I already answered before, since traveling with a baby, I got an email back: "We don't have time for any more of this nonsense.." We tried to rent a car seat and stroller. When my wife called, the person she spoke with was a real dick, rude and condescending. Rather than deal with them, we chose to use the website. While we got an email stating that the equipment was available and would be waiting for us when we got off the plane, there was no confirmation number, or confirmation of the specific equipment we'd asked for. When my wife called to ask for the confirmation number, the same representative (we think it's the owner), was very rude, stating that the email contained the confirmation number (it didn't), then proceeded to tell her that they couldn't service our request. Both times the rep was a total dick. Traveling with children is stressful enough, you shouldn't have to deal with this kind of crap from the people who are supposed to make your life easier. I would suggest to anyone interested to use a different service, and/or to open a similar service in the Boston area. All you'd have to do is not be a jerk, and this guy will be out of business in no time. Update: The jerk of an owner had the nerve to send my wife an email calling her an idiot. I did some research before renting car seats for our trip to the east coast and had read all the horrible reviews about Baby's-A-Go and knew I absolutely DID NOT want to rent with this company. I found a different company - Traveling Baby - which had excellent reviews for the Los Angeles branch and although there were no reviews for their Boston branch I decided to take a chance. Imagine my incredible disappointment when I found out that they are the same company. Different names, different websites but (in Boston) the same company with the same rude owner, Tom. Before renting from "Traveling Baby" I called to ask if the car seats are up to date and I was assured me that they update their seats every few years. I was satisfied with this because I was sure that a company would not put themselves in a position of renting unsafe car seats. We flew into Boston and were driving to Narragansett, RI. We were happy to hear that our 2 car seats (one convertible and one infant) were waiting for us at our rental car company already. That is about all the positive I can say about this company. The seats clearly old and did not look that clean. But I had come prepared with disinfecting wipes. We wiped them off,installed them and hit the road to RI. I sat in between the kids in the back and the whole ride I kept looking at the seats noticing how old they were.When we got to our house, I wanted decided to take the car seats out to look for their expiration date. Imagine my surprise when I noticed that the infant Graco car seat had a stamp engraved on the bottom that said "DO NOT USE AFTER DECEMBER 2013" (we rented in June 2016). The convertible car seat was a Britax Marathon and we could not find an expiration date on it but we did find a manufactured date which was February, 14, 2005. I went on the Britax website and confirmed that the Marathon seat expires 6 years after manufactured date. This car seat was 11 years old!!! We immediately called "Traveling Baby" which is when we found out the company was actually Baby's-A-Go when Tom answered the phone using that company name. We explained our situation and that we were very upset to have driven 1.5 hours with our 2 babies in very expired seats. He did not have much to say other than "well I don't know how you got those seats". He was not apologetic, was not concerned and rude to me. I gave the phone to my husband who did get angry with him (rightfully so at this point) and insisted this situation be righted. We wanted 2 different car seats brought to us. Tom said he has delivery people but he would not send any of them to us nor would he bring them himself. His response "I am running a company I can't be driving that far". My husband agreed he would not normally insist anyone drive that far but since he is "running a company" he should want to correct this concern any way he could. We had rented a stroller from a local company in RI and I was able to get ahold of them and arrange to get car seats asap. After us doing ALL of the coordinating we finally settled on this solution: Tom from Traveling Baby/Baby's-A-Go would refund our money and we would get car seats from the other company. We would return all 4 car seats to Tom on our return to Boston Logan airport and he would then ship the car seats back to the other company. We spent the first 2 hours of our family vacation dealing with and coordinating this. Yes, Tom did refund our money and for that I am thankful but this was only after we put up a big fight. This was not a matter of just cleanliness. These were not car seats that were only a few months or a year expired- these car seats were 3 years and 5 years past their expiration dates and this is putting children at risk who ride in them. Great experience! We rented a pack n play and the "bucket of indoor toys." Pack n play was in good condition. The toys were fantastic. Huge bucket, lots of variety, good for a range of ages. The most amazing thing was that the batteries were working in all of the battery-operated toys. The toys basically saved our weekend. My 1.5-year-old loved them. The toys were not super-clean, so if you are a germaphobe, that might bother you, but I'd just wipe them down with some wipes if you're worried. Our daughter is a walking mess/germ as it is, so we were not phased. Also, I think we asked for a sheet to go with the pack n play, but there wasn't one. It wasn't a big deal because we also brought our own. Pack n play sheets are cheap and easy to pack, and anyway it's probably good to bring your own for cleanliness reasons. The toys were waiting for us at the Hertz office at Logan airport. SO convenient. read more

We rented a Graco toddler car seat and a Graco booster with back seat. They were clean and in good condition. They were delivered on time and waiting for us at Logan Airport car rental facility. The equipment cannot compare to the ones you can get from the car rental places. This is a family owned and operated business so do not expect corporate type of customer service, but the communication was good, on time, and the services and rented equipment were great! The employee that picked up the car seat was extremely unprofessional and left me several aggressive, threatening, and inappropriate text messages. The company provided a car seat on time. I was aware of the possible charge for the car seat if it was not returned to the exact place where I picked it up. I had a sick child and a second one in tow. The car rental company manager dropped us off at the gate and offered to take the car seat back to the specified area where I had planned to return the car seat. I got at least 5 calls and 7 texts, despite a phone conversation with the employee to explain and apologize for the change in plan. One of his text stated that he had 6 kids and had never failed to follow through with a contract, but in very inappropriate and aggressive language. All he had to do, if anything, is text that I had broken the contract and was being charged. I did not need the 5 calls and 7 harassing texts on top of a vomiting kid before a cross country flight. read more

Baby gear rental is a great and needed option for the traveling parent, however, please do yourself a favor and stay away from "Baby's A Go." I initially emailed this "company" with a few questions, including a request for a specific model of an infant car seat which they didn't have. That was fine. When I asked how old the car seats were that they did have the man running the business, Thomas, assured me that they were all "within a year old," and while he couldn't tell me exactly which model would be available during my trip, he would know in the next few days and get back to me. That conversation never did happened. When I arrived in Boston and installed the car seat that my brother-in-law had picked up, I recognized it as a Graco Snugride. Knowing the Snugride has gotten good, safety reviews I wasn't concerned. However, recognizing that it was an older model, I decided to take a quick look at the manufacturing date stamped on the bottom: May, 2005. It didn't have a specific "expiration date" stamped on it but everything I have read says that they have about a 5 year life. So it had been expired by nearly 2 years!! After I was specifically told that "all of the cars eats are within a year old" I was really upset and immediately called Thomas and left a message. I called again in the morning after I didn't receive a call back that evening. I spoke with Thomas about the issue regarding the expired car seat. When I told him that I was unable to use the seat because it was unsafe, his response was, "well then, don't use it." I wondered if I heard him correctly so I responded with, "excuse me?" To which he again said, "if it's not safe then just don't use it." There was NEVER an offer to exchange the seat for a different one or even an apology for renting me an expired car seat. He then went on to tell me that "everyone was sick" at his house and no one could come get the seat but that we could drop it off and we wouldn't be charged any money. (our credit card had already been charged, a day before we even picked it up!) Later in the day we corresponded again regarding my concern with returning the car seat because I was afraid he might rent it to another customer who may not be aware of car seat expiration dates. He responded that he felt like car seat expiration dates were a "gimmick" by set up by the manufacturing company and that the seat had "only been used 3 times...." I guess he thought the fact that it had not been used many times would make up for the fact that it was expired. It didn't. Regardless of his personal feelings regarding car seat expiration dates, he is running a business renting these and I am appalled that he responded with such a lack of concern for safety! My husband ended up going to the store and buying a brand new Graco car seat for the same price as renting the expired one (with delivery fee) for 8 days! Bottom line: Poor business practice. Poor customer service. Doesn't care about safety of children. Stay away! read more

I was visiting a friend in Boston for a weekend with my 6 month old and needed to rent a stroller, and other baby gear for the weekend. Unfortunately, I was not very impressed with the customer service of Mr Thomas Donovan, the owner. Mr. Donovan was argumentative, unprofessional and provided poor communication about delivery and status of the order. The stroller smelled like rotten milk and the pack and play did not come with a sheet as listed on the invoice. I should have known by the low rating to try and go with a different company. I emailed the owner to know where exactly I should expect to receive my car seat. I had a car service picking me up and I thought it would be really easy and convenient for this company to go ahead and meet with the car service, install the seat and be on their way. Instead I am informed that they will meet me at the outside curb for the arrivals. I am also informed that they will be monitoring my flight so they will be on time. All over their website they state how timely they are to Logan airport. I call, as instructed, as soon as I exit the plane. I am told that I'll be met downstairs, assuming they are already there. 45 minuted later they show up with my car seat due to streets being closed off. I am sure they didn't even leave until I called them. It is stressful enough to travel with a small child, let alone have to wait another 45 minuted to receive a car seat and then have to drive an hour to our final destination. Then when I returned my car seat the employee called when I was running 20 minutes late and seemed very frustrated. I had to wait 45 minutes for my car seat with an 18 month old and I was coming from an hour away! read more

We recently rented two swings and one bouncy seat from this company. The swings had toy bars attached and some of the toys seem to never have been cleaned. They actually had black scum marks on them. It was bad. The batteries of the bouncy seat were dying. We had arrived later in the evening, and when we called we were told they clean their equipment and the batteries had been fine a few hours earlier. Essentially what we were experiencing was not really possible. There was no way we would let our babies use equipment that dirty, so we requested they pick the items up the next morning and refund our money. They agreed to pick them up the next morning. We then went to sleep and were woken up by a bellman who had obviously been sent up by the company to pick up the items that same night. We never received a refund and the company ignored our request for a refund by email. We have put in a dispute with our credit card company. read more

Terrible customer service. I made a reservation to rent equipment a week before my trip to Boston and provided the contact information of owner of the B&B where I was staying. Friday afternoon, 2 days before I was to arrive in Boston, I got an email stating that, as the phone number for the apartment owner had the same area code as my own, this person is "not the owner or rental agent. This false information forces us to cancel the reservation as this is a credibility issue." Unbelievable. Clearly, the owner had provided his cell phone number and coincidentally happened to be from the same large city as I am. Now I am left without needed equipment for my baby and have so far not been able to find another rental agency with available equipment with such short notice. Rented a crib while in Boston but I couldn't open it up, one end was stuck in the closed position and wouldn't budge. We spent an hour trying to get it open. Called the company and the guy was horribly rude when I asked if there was a trick open it up. His response was "just open it up. Called the hotel maintenance if you can't figure it out." He said said they were too far away to help open it and they didn't have any more cribs to replace it if this one was broken. When I asked what they would do if I couldn't open it, and he said "figure it out. It was working when I dropped it off." Maintenance came up and figured it out after 15 minutes, there was a metal button piece on the bottom that you had to push in very hard, it took two guys to figure it out and then push it hard enough to open up. When I told the crib company through text that maintenance figured out the button issue and recommended that he give that advice to future customers rather than telling them to just "open it up", he texted me back that there is no button... The crib itself was great, but the service was awful and I spent 1.5 hours of my vacation dealing with this, along with being panicked that my 1-year wouldn't have anywhere to sleep. Will never use them again, and will recommend that none of my friends or family use them. Who treats customers like that? read more
