The only down side is I ordered the carseat to be delivered to the store to have a car seat installation but they informed me they only do by appt Monday through Friday. Given their limited hours (especially for us working moms) and having to drive across town it will likely not be possible for me in which case it would have been way more convenient for me to order to my house. When I bought the car seat I tried scheduling an appt when through their website and that function was not working, and it did not specify it was only Monday through Friday only. Overall happy to support a local business but I think it would have been more convenient to have just bought online and shipped to my house. read more

I ALWAYS get the same message that they are busy assisting other customers. This place is about 45 minutes from me, so I cannot just get up and go. For a store that prides itself in the quality of service it provides I received one of the worst customer service interaction from the Attendee who was assigned the task to have my unpacked highchair carried in from the store to the back of my vehicle. Not only did this staff member act in a way which made me feel like i was asking for too much by requesting that my vehicle isnt further scrapped after she did it once, i felt as if i was imposing on her to request that my car nor the new item (which was being replaced) was placed in my car with care. I haven't received service this subpar not even from Walmart. My intial experience on the day when i arrived with my husband to purchase the product was wonderful. The cashier was also wonderful. But the behavior of this individual was shameful and honestly it made me feel like i was perhaps asking for too much and brought me close to tears. I drove one hour to get this item replaced after i packed the defective item back in its box. One of the first questions i received prior to the particular staff member and another gentleman who came out with the intention of rolling the unboxed item on the store front and on to the road with all sorts of derbies was, " is this being purchased as a gift ? then yea it doesn't need to be packaged back up. The cashier/clerk did ask if I wanted the box/item put back in. But it felt quite clear that isn't their usual MO and i felt uncomfortable asking for what i wanted at that point. A customer shouldn't have to justify, explain/ why they want an item not rolled on to the pavement and the road before they take it home...that is the least i deserved. I was extremely put off and honestly brought close to tears by the entire transaction. My husband wished I had returned the item at this point and bought it from elsewhere. My 12 year old child who heard the entire interaction with the formerly mentioned staff asked me "why was the lady being so aggressive towards you." The store has excellent top of the line items, i cant say the same for the quality of the customer service i received for the entirety of transaction. read more

You're not going to see common name brands in here, you will find instead, quality products for your child. We went to the stroller/car seat section initially wanting the Nuna system for our baby, but heard from a sales associate that Agio by Peg Perego is an Italian brand that manufactures their products in Italy! Holy cow, so exciting. We changed our minds, went home to research and saw that it's on sale for $100 off in stores. I called today to put a deposit down with the help of Mary. I love this store. They will hold onto your products for you until you're due. Not only that, they will set it up FOR YOU AND have a professional install the seat in your car! Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner. I didn't know ANYTHING about baby transportation and didn't want to just buy online based on random people's reviews. We showed up on a weekend, signed a list to be seen, and received amazing one-on-one service as we tried out different strollers, handled car seats, learned about features, folded up strollers, etc. It was a hands on experience and we were able to agree on the Uppababy vista with Mesa carrier, it also came with a bassinet and kids seat. Now that baby is here I can say I am still happy with my purchase. Uppababy vista has amazing storage space below, bassinet is super helpful around the house and when traveling, and the Mesa is easy to handle in and out of car for appts and quick errands. All items came in time for baby who arrived at 38 weeks. They assembled my stroller in store once it arrived so I only had to go pick it up! I'd def recommend not waiting til the last minute like me. I attended a FREE one-on-one class at this store as well to learn about car seat safety and have my car seat installed which was SUPER helpful) cuz three days after my appointment I gave birth and two days after that I was putting baby in that seat to head home from the hospital. This is a late review (7 1/2) months late. But better late than never... right... I had somewhat of an idea what infant seat I wanted. But all my husband could see is the price tag. After one visit to this location, and about an hour with the amazing staff he was sold on the seat due to the great explanation of all the safety features. I also think being able to put his eyes and hands on the actual product made a huge difference. They have a great selection on seats, strollers and other items the larger stores do not. I was very impressed. Fast forward a few months, and we received a surprise. Our little man arrived 2 months early, and we were not prepared. The day he was released from the hospital (almost 3 weeks before we were expecting him to) we needed a stroller. The staff was amazing, they sent us to the warehouse where the stroller was in stock. But the amazing part was, when we arrived they were assembling it for us, so we could hurry and pick up our baby! We will be returning very soon for our next car seat! read more

He pretty much showed us the different models and their features. He also taught us how to use the stroller,work the infant adaptors, to showing us how to install the base into my wife's car. I learn quite a bit from him. We were set on the nuna pipa, but my wife wanted to make sure my car was compatible. I spent a small fortune on a glider and ottoman at this store. The salesperson upsold me on the company's protection plan, stating it was foolproof. She said that my kid could ruin the chair with food, crayons, etc and it would be covered/repaired/replaced for 5 years. Only thing that wouldn't be covered is intentional damage obviously. So I bought the plan. Seemed like a no brainer, right? Wrong. Fast forward 3 years when my toddler, being a kid one day, scuffed the chairs edges against the wall several times while swiveling it, rubbing the fabric completely off the corners before I could stop her. Guess what? The company over the protection plan refused to cover the damage, saying this was "normal wear and tear". What a racket! This was one incident and not normal wear and tear over time. My money was wasted, I have a chair that looks horrible and unless I spend (ANOTHER) small fortune to get the chair reupholstered, this otherwise seemingly good chair will head to the junkyard when I'm done using it for baby #2. Buyer beware!!! Don't fall for Baby's First sales misrepresentation of the glider protection plans. I feel scammed and never expected that from this store given the reputation. Gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the chair itself is good quality and the other staff were friendly and helpful. read more

All items are at varying prices which allows to meet every budget. We had a mishap with the glider chair that we purchased being delayed in production. Has cute items but the staff is incredibly rude. My toddlers laid on a nap mat (which should be allowed to try out anyway). I guess the shop didn't like that because I was then rudely asked if I was going to "buy" the mats. I didn't need them but bought the $50 mats (2) out of principle. The first time I went, I ordered a crib sheet, paid and waited for three months, which should have been a few weeks. I called and the response was that they were not sure what happened to the order. A combination of rude service and unreliable delivery when it comes to the mom and baby/child industry is unacceptable in my book. Needless to say, I will not be going back. There are many other cute shops that offer both service and quality... I was frantic thinking, "Are they even here?" Of course they were. The door opened and I was greeted by a smiling face. She informed me I could get a registry list printed at the counter. She showed me where certain items were and was very helpful while I was there. Both the person who printed the registry and the person who checked me out at the counter were very nice and helpful. Being new parents we were super excited about the little one on the way but also lost when it comes to buying baby stuff. It's so overwhelming with so many brands and features to choose from. I've been to some other baby stores in Houston (Buy Buy Baby, Right Start, Pottery Barn Kids, Restoration Hardware Kids, Target, Babies R Us...) and I have found that either the staff is unhelpful or very pushy. This is a store that sells high end baby stuff so do expect to spend some money here. We did our fair share of shopping and comparing brands/prices but came back to Baby's 1st for all our purchases. I wanted to get the big ticket items taken care of early on, so we purchased the crib, mattress, dresser, hutch (that converts into a bookshelf, how cool is that?!), car seat, bassinet/pack and play, and glider in one day. If you get a car seat from them, you will get a free training session on car seat safety where they will show you how to install and operate the car seat you purchased. Phew! I can relax for a bit now. The staff at Baby's 1st has made everything so easy and stress free! Everyone especially the owner is extremely nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. I felt educated walking out of the store. I've never felt pushed into making a purchase. The is a locally family owned store with 4 stores in Houston and surrounding areas. I highly recommend checking out Baby's 1st for your baby's needs. In my opinion, it is the best baby store in Houston in terms of quality and customer service. It can get crowded on the weekends but I have never had trouble getting help. It's a bit more expensive (you get what you pay for) but your little one is totally worth it! read more

This review is for both their Kirby/West University and Richmond locations... The staff at both locations are wonderful, especially Brianna. After doing research online we went in to see what kinds of options they had. While they had the Babyletto Hudson crib that we had seen on Amazon, they had a number of other options, even ones made in the USA, which we love. The staff was so nice and helpful, even suggesting that we check out the Richmond location as it is 4 times as big as the Kirby store and has a better selection, along with a dedicated section to Young America, one of their USA based manufacturers. I will say the Richmond location does get busy on the weekends, but having been there a couple of times, if you go before the "after lunch" rush, there are plenty of sales personnel to answer your questions. Some of the manufacturers like Young America have pretty long lead times, so plan ahead. Our crib will hopefully be here before the kid arrives and we have already placed our order for the rocker glider and ottoman from Best Chairs, another Made in the USA company. They come highly recommended for car seats as well, as they have a certified tech that will do you the necessary install in the car with any in-house purchase. We were advised to wait until their 4th of July sale that starts the last week of June, and even received a purchase bonus from our chair purchase last week. When all is said and done we will have spend around $2500 at Baby's 1st, but we know we are getting the best for our little peanut and supporting local business. The staff does not work on commission, so there was no sales pressure. Much better than buying from Babies R Us as the store is both clean and focused on pleasing the customer. read more

This store is a small local chain. The prices are not cheap, however you are getting great customer service. I purchased my crib from this location however I haven't had time to put it together yet. I also purchased my carseat and stroller and was surprised to find that the combination ended up being cheaper here than when I priced it on Amazon. The thing that really sets this store apart in terms of baby items are the staff. I know nothing about carseats and was really nervous about purchasing one without any information. I spent two hours in the store with one of their employees while he patiently showed me each of the carseats and watched while I practiced buckling in and placing the seats in bases. If you purchase your carseat in store they make you an appointment with their certified carseat installation specialist, if your seat is purchased elsewhere then for $30.00 you can meet with the specialist. The appointment was useful, the staff unpacked and helped me assemble the carseat and stroller. The important things that I would need to remember were bookmarked in the instruction manual and then I was helped to install the car seat in my car using my manual and I can feel more sure that the seat was installed correctly. read more

Love the place, the products, the people, and the service. We bought our daughter's furniture here and now our son's. The customer service experience was nothing less than extraordinary! We have also shopped there for other products, like Christening gowns, and the same experience was felt. To give an example, our children are adopted so there was a lot of volatility around the timing and even the ultimate placement. They assured us that if the adoption didn't go through that they would not make us take delivery of the items we purchased. Thankfully we didn't end up in that space, rather the baby came early and they provided a loaner rocker and even a loaner crib while we waited for our items to arrive. I have never had as good a customer service experience as I have had here. They have never dropped the ball on anything, most items have been delivered early, and any snag felt was handled professionally and urgently. I was all set to get the Cybex car seat and stroller online but couldn't bring myself to make such a large online purchase without checking it out first in person. Stopped by Baby First and really glad I did! Cybex was nothing like what I expected in person - it did not fit what we were looking for in a stroller/car seat. I felt overwhelmed at first but looked around and noticed the store had a great selection. Staff were highly trained/certified safety specialists and took the time to answer questions as I tried out different strollers (thank you for their patience). I ended making an informed decision versus randomly picking out something online. We ended up getting the Agio Baby and absolutely love it. Never even heard of them before and wouldn't have known otherwise. I no longer feel that I settled on a stroller/car seat but got one that I actually love/fits perfectly in what we were looking for. Get compliments everywhere we go with it and most importantly, it is comfortable and safe for the baby. All I have to say is spare yourself some grief with online returns that don't work out and check out stuff in person. actually get baby products that are based on making an informed decision. read more
