The crew was amazing and so memorable, making the whole experience even better. The views along the coastline and out on the water were stunning, and we even made it all the way down to the beautiful Cape Spear. Essential service when traveling in St. John's for a short trip and with a small group. For just…read more$55 (adult) for two days, you get driven from Downtown to all the key tourist destinations like Signal Hill, the Geo Centre, Quidi Vidi, The Rooms, and Cape Spear Lighthouse. You can hop on and hop off at any point. They make a stop at each of these locations each hour until around 3 pm each day (check their schedule on their site or grab a pamphlet at their booth). You'll find their first pickup stop right in front of the Alt Hotel and that's where you can also buy a ticket. We stumbled across them while walking by, initially considering Ubering to our destinations, but after comparing the prices, this seemed worthwhile. For reference, an Uber ride to Cape Spear from Downtown is $40 one way, so it seems like a no-brainer to use this service for a couple or small group, especially if you're not using a rental car. The driver also acts as a tour guide while driving across town, providing a bit of history. Coincidentally, Bobby was our driver both days; each time we hopped on, it was him, and he was friendly and added to the enjoyment of our ride to the destination.

Breakfast served every morning that is hot and customized to your needs. In 8 days there, breakfast was different every morning. Rita is a great resource for what to do and where to go in the area. The rooms are spacious enough, all with private bath and views of the ocean and harbor. Clean, perfectly appointed, and totally comfortable with friendly, interesting guests. Spacious eating area plus separate living room overlooking the ocean. Definitely check it out. We headquartered here and explored the east coast and found it to be a perfect distance from St. John's, Cape Race, and Flatrock and the inbetweens.

Felt old and warn down. "Maintenance Required" light/message was on, which blocked the use of cruise control. Tire had a leak, which we had to hunt down a place to get air to fill it back up. I requested compensation for the inadequate quality of this vehicle. They agreed if was not good and repeatedly (every message included) said how important quality is, but only provided a very small refund to me. 5% of the cost of the rental, not including the repairs I was charged for, which I'm uncertain I was at fault for given the quality of this car. They clearly did not ensure I was provided a vehicle is tip top shape. First car rental that was much worse then my vehicles back home. I'll never rent from Avis again.

I can't say enough about the wonderful service at this Avis location. I had troubles with my air…read morebooking and called the main Avis line to let them know I'd be arriving early the next morning instead of late night. The counter closes at 2am so I knew I would miss my pick up. The 800 line told me they could not adjust my reservation because they were sold out of cars. I explained I was not cancelling, just picking up late, but that made no difference. A bit later in the day I decided to try and call the location at St John's directly, which I did. When I called I spoke with Kelly and she assured me that they would have a car for me the next morning and not to worry, what a relief! My flight arrived at 3am and low and behold, there was a young lady at the Avis counter checking in another group! Evidentially they were driving far and needed their car that night so the young lady chose to stay the extra hour and help them. I introduced myself and she immediately said, we were expecting you in the morning but I'm happy to help you now. Wow!!! She checked me in, and I also might add they had booked me as an arrival into the wrong airport so she had to adjust that, adjusted my rate, and gave me a nicer car. I've read a lot of negative rental car reviews from St John's, so I really felt I needed to share my wonderful experience. Thanks Avis St John's for helping to make my stay so wonderful:)
