This was an experience that started off rocky and then was salvaged. The hostess here was clearly annoyed with people wanting good tables, I get it, there are not that many perfect outside tables. When it was our turn to be seated I kid you not, we had a table in the gift shop area, I definitely asked to be reseated and she looked at like I was crazy. She went on break or something and this other waiter moved us to an awesome table outside, easy, salvaged, loved the beer and the food! Views were spectacular. Still one of the nicest and coolest breweries we've ever been to. The setting is unreal -- tucked in a quaint fishing village, right on the water, with a massive mountain backdrop. The vibes alone are worth the trip, but add in great service and even better beer, and this place is a must! We grabbed some food and the spinach & artichoke dip was cheesy, creamy, and delicious. As for the beer -- wow. Some of our favourites included: Blackberry Rosemary Aloha Candy Store IPA Iron Sour Cherry ...and honestly so many more, it was hard to choose! This was the most advertised brewery in St. John that we had read about, so we decided to stop by to check out their beer. We had no intention of staying for food, but we ended up doing that anyway. First off, they have a wide range of beers, both on draft and in cans. The artwork on the cans are awesome! I'm not sure who the artist is, but you almost don't want to throw the cans away because they're so pretty. I got their Imperial Coconut Porter which came in a can, and I was in heaven! Very smooth with coffee notes. Hubby got the 1892 Amber beer and enjoyed it. We also split the Octoberfest, which was refreshing! For food, they have a little truck outside of their brewery with a limited menu. Hubby got the fish & chips and I got the poutine. Hubby said his fish & chips were good - not the best he's ever had, but decent. I really enjoyed the poutine with the cheese curds and delicious gravy! It went very well with the beers. The atmosphere is very chill and they have a beautiful view of Quidi Vidi lake and village. They have seating both inside and outside. Service is friendly and fast. Second, 99 cent wing night is Wednesdays, starting at 4:00 p.m. Good food, variety of beer and the most lovely deck to sit and enjoy the scenery. It was our first time in St.John, Nfld. My husband enjoys trying local breweries. He read Quidi Vidi Village had a brewery so we thought we'd check it out. The beer was good. We shared an order of fish and chips and I ordered the daily special soup, roast pepper and tomato soup. The temperature of soup was tepid and bun was hard. Fish was mushy inside the batter and fries were also tepid. It's a great location but don't expect much for the food. read more

Wonderful service, beer selection and food!! The chowder is awesome. Views are incredible from the outdoor patio. A must if in the area. Also had some cute merch but card only for retail purchases. Not sure why. Squeeze box IPA was crisp and fruity not too heavy on the hops. Great job! read more

We did not drive here but it seems like that parking here in this are seems a hit or miss, at the same time I saw a lot of parking I also saw a lot of cars coming around and trying to stop for the brewery. this brewery is very much like a neighborhood thing, no fancy entrance or anything like that. they do have a store where you can buy some merchandise and all but nothing super crazy or fancy. the entrance here is in the back of the building and that stroke me as odd but it is what it is. as you come in you will see a bar and some tables, pretty spacious with a nice view of water and the mountain where many tourists do some hiking in the day time. you also have access to the window where you see the machinery where the beer is made and at the bar you can make your choices as well as they have some hard alcohol for the non beer drinkers like me. they here accept dollars (not converted so you will end up paying more expensive if you do not have the Canadian money) and they accept their own Canadian money obviously. they have an ATM by the entrance so there is no reason why to waste the American dollars. they also do not have a kitchen but they do provide a food service where they go to the truck outside and get you the food. you can order with them and they will bring it to you. as far as for the beer I am not sure what I had but in the end I just ordered some rum and stuck to that. the food service is indeed a bit slow because of the fact of the outside food truck so have a lot of time if you wanna eat here. FISH AND CHEAPS WITH POUTINE - so instead of plain fries we made our fries a poutine and it was a ok meal, not a main meal at all this is a bar food for sure, very greasy and all, the fish was pretty amazing, do not use the vinegar cause you will spoil it! lol over all if you not too hungry not worth it but if you need something to last a couple of beers go for it. the table service was a bit lacking after the food came in we had to come on our own and get utensils and condiments so I assume that they do not have an formal table service. if you are beer person this is another place to visit. for me it was not my cup of tea at all. We visited Quidi Vidi Brewery years before and today's visit was very different with disorganized seating. Many waiting in line downstairs and upon getting a table, saw many open tables. This was very disorganized. The music was not conducive to St John's culture. Especially for a tourist. The gift shop was disappointing. Quality of merchandise should be better for the price. Great beer, awesome atmosphere highly recommended! We were in town the previous night for dinner at nearby Mallard Cottage but it was to late to visit the brewery. We made the trip back the following day and are glad we did. The beer is delicious with several different types for different tastes. I like all beer so tried all the different types. Redefining the ice-cold beer, Quidi Vidi Brewery uses Newfoundland icebergs to brew the award-winning Iceberg Beer. Simply refreshing! It's also packaged in a very distinct iceberg blue bottle, which got so popular that no one wanted to return them for refund. The brewery had to double the reward to get more bottles back. Only available in Newfoundland so don't miss it when you're in the island! Wanted to bring some to Toronto, but they don't sell these in airport's Duty Free shop and we're not allowed to carry liquor in our hand-carry bags :( Hopefully, they will package mini Iceberg beer (100ml) in the future so we can bring them home for souvenir. They do tours on the hour, not an open tasting room where you can come and go whenever We then did the tour, which started with a historical dialogue and tastings upstairs. The historical dialogue by the young lady was excellent. She kept everyone's attention and really did a fine job. The beers are honestly average at best. After a long hike and a visit to Cape Spear, my family and I decided to go for lunch at Quidi Vidi Brewery. My daughter and her fiancé are here in town for their wedding so I thought it would be nice to show them around some of the nicer spots. We arrived at the brewery at about 2:15pm and we did not get our food until just after 4pm. By the time we did get the food, we were all very irritated and exhausted. Also, my daughter had started to feel unwell because she hadn't eaten since breakfast; she became nauseous and was trembling. When the food arrived, the wings we had ordered were cold. The rest was nothing special, especially for having waited so long. The fish batter had no flavour, nor did the seafood chowder. We ordered extra fries to accompany the chicken wings and for a small basket of fries (which was nowhere near full), it was nearly $7! My son-in-law asked to speak to the manager (something we never do as we know how things do not always go smoothly in restaurants and the work is not easy). She was friendly and told us she would not charge us for the drinks and the wings. That was nice of her and we appreciated it. I still chose to share this review as we were not impressed with the service overall. Not only did we have to wait for almost two hours before getting our food, but the servers don't bring the food to your table. You are given a device and when it beeps, you have to trudge down the stairs (where there is often a lineup of people waiting to be seated) to get your food yourself. Also, the menu only has about 6-7 choices (which is normal I guess, seeing it's a brewery). On the way home, I had to pull over because my daughter was sick. I don't know if it was the food or the fact that she felt unwell because she waited so long to eat, but this was an absolutely horrible experience. Our afternoon plans were ruined. I do not recommend this place if you plan to eat. Maybe just for drinks, sure. read more

Even though loud and kinda hard to find a spot to sit at, this is a very hip and cool place to go to. They have a ton of Newfoundland beer that they make in house. Because you're getting everything from tap, all the beers are very fresh. We appreciated the fact that we could get a box to try their different types of beer. They also sell six and twelve packs downstairs. The view is also incredible. All in all, you can't go wrong with a quick trip (or a long one) to this brewery if you're in St. John's. read more

The Quidi Vidi Brewery is distinctive for being a brewery and (with apologies to Quidi Vidi Plantation) for being the only thing to do in Quidi Vidi besides going to eat at Mallard Cottage. Here are a few things to note: 1. The beers are available all over St. John's and are most notable for being local. 2. The brewery offers tours of the operations, generally on the hour on busy weekends and peak summer season. You can't really do a tasting apart from a tour. Sometimes the tours sell out. If you are considering a tour, pay the ten bucks in advance. 3. The space for walk-in traffic is tiny. You cannot walk in and buy a beer or simply taste samples. There is nowhere to sit, etc. You can buy a 4-pack and take it outside to drink behind the building. Service is pretty much average. read more

We had a really fun experience on their brewery tour. During the week days, they offer a tour of their facilities at 11:00 am. We were the only ones there so we got a personal tour with one of the managers. We were shown their bottle cleaning facilities where they reuse bottles by cleaning them instead of purchasing new ones. We also saw their storage of products and were briefly shown the making of the beer but they were in production that day so we couldn't go into that area. Afterwards, we went to the tasting room where we sampled 4 different types of beer including their famous iceberg beer (in the Blue bottle) and a sour kettle beer. The manager was very informative and even told us all about how the iceberg water is harvested for their signature beer. Once we were finished our samples, we stayed and had a few drinks overlooking their beautiful views of the Quick Vidi area. The tour was about $12 per person which I found reasonable considering the samples at the end. Getting down to the brewery can be a bit tricky as the roads in that area are not wide enough of two vehicles so just be careful! read more

My company was in town for a meeting and we were looking for a fun afternoon adventure. We started by taking a hike from the parking lot of the brewery and made it up to a high cliff overlooking Quito Vidi village and the Atlantic. After watching some whales swim by we hiked back down and enjoyed a few beers on their outside patio.
