Delicious food. Came with my husband for ribs and I got 1/2 Rack ribs with Cesar sald and he got 1/2 rack ribs with mushroom soup. Both of them delicuos, ribs melt in your mouth, full of flavour. I was actually thinking about not going because of the reviews but my husband convinced me of giving them a try and totally worth it.

    Definitely get the Appy ribs.

A wonderful stop after a long trip, and great staff, atmosphere, and selection to boot. A lot of the menu was sold out at 7pm, which I guess is a good sign, and it reflected on our portion too, I think. I would go back though.

Full rack of ribs, half chicken

Doesn't look like much from the outside but step inside and order up. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is awesome. I can't wait to come back

One order of full rack is plenty for two people plus take home!

We were driving from Invermere back to Calgary, and we decided to stop in this little town by the Radium Hot Springs for some food. This was Sunday around 3pm. Every restaurant we went to were closed, and we got so frustrated, we asked one of the locals where we should go for some food. She had recommended Back Country Jack's which was just down the street from where we parked. You can definitely tell the place is a local hangout spot. The front patio was 3/4 occupied. Not bad for a Sunday 3pm. Their menus are made in newspaper form, and the outdoor patio seating were modest with umbrellas and plastic chairs, with utensils already stocked in a holder on your table. Inside the restaurant has a very country feel. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the food (good sign), gave great recommendations, and tended to our water cups frequently. We ended up ordering the calamari as appetizer (comes with tzatziki sauce), the batter was perfect, wasn't too salty, wasn't too hard, wasn't too crunchy, wasn't too over-battered, it was just right. We added a side order of garlic mushrooms... this wasn't a "side" portion, it was more like a full on meal portion!! It was very good. We also ordered a full rack of ribs ($24!) that comes with one large garlic toast, and whatever side you choose. We chose the house fries with cheese. My boyfriend loves french fries and takes them very seriously, and I barely eat them, but when we tried their fries, we both couldn't get enough of it! The ribs... ah... fell right off the bone. The sauce that was covering the ribs was just the perfect: not too much, not too little, just the right amount to keep you licking your fingers. Overall, the portions are very generous, so come hungry. We are so glad that we were able to stumble upon this local gem. Next time we go to Invermere lake, we we definitely stop by this place.

    Lunch 3 ribs for $12.

We stopped by this place for a lunch stop in radium. I had ordered the 1/4 rack of ribs for lunch because I was craving bbq. I had assumed a 1/4 rack would be approximately 4 ribs, but assumed wrong. When the plate arrived, there was a measly 3 ribs on my plate with little meat on each accompanied with a small side of fries and garlic toast. For $12 I expected more ribs, $12 for 3 ribs I found was an absolute rip off. Both my son and I found our fries were undercooked. When mentioned it to the waitress she apologized and brought out a fresh batch. She explained that they had gotten a new type of potatoe....ok...? In the end, we paid $3 for our pops that weren't refilled, had under cooked fries and ribs that were nothing special and I could have easily cooked at home. Don't think we'd be back again, many other places around to try.

Our server seemed a bit hurried. She was out of breath and not super friendly. They have a wide variety of options on the menu. We decided on the Cordon Bleu schnitzel with chicken instead of pork ($3 upgrade), jagerspatzle and a cup of their mushroom soup. The food was delicious! The chicken Cordon Bleu was the overall hit. My husband really enjoyed the Dunkel beer. I ordered the chocolate mousse, but was disappointed as it tasted like a Jello pudding mix chocolate. Not the rich dark chocolate mousse I'm used to. Overall a nice experience. The music playing in the restaurant was a German song on repeat! It played the entire time we were there...yikes! I politely recommend they get an entire album with a variety of songs. I loved the German themed music, but one song playing over and over again was annoying.

Two members of our group ordered the chicken Alfredo, and both dishes arrived with little to no Alfredo sauce. They both agreed it tasted terrible. I started with the prawn appetizer, which included four prawns that were decent, but the rest of the dish lacked flavor and wasn't enjoyable. For my main course, I ordered the Steak Neptune and requested it cooked medium rare. It arrived medium instead. While the steak itself tasted good, it was more done than I had asked for. My son ordered the chicken parmigiana and said it tasted like it had been microwaved--it was hot in some spots, cold in others, and overall just mediocre. Another member of our group ordered a medium-well steak but received it well done. She said it was okay, but not what she ordered. The remaining steaks ordered medium also arrived well done, so there seemed to be a consistent issue with the kitchen getting steak temperatures right. Service from our waitress was the highlight of the evening. She was friendly, attentive, and did a great job despite the problems coming from the kitchen. Unfortunately, the wait time was also unacceptable. It took about an hour for our meals to arrive after we placed our order, which is far too long. The atmosphere also didn't live up to expectations. It felt more like an inexpensive family restaurant than the higher-end dining experience the restaurant appears to market itself as. Overall, this was a very disappointing meal, especially for a family celebration. Between the long wait, inconsistent cooking, and poor quality of several dishes, I won't be returning. There are many better restaurants in the area that offer better food, better value, and a much more enjoyable dining experience.

Having only one waiter isn't an issue if the interactions make up for it but it feels like they see a lot of tourists so they're going through the motions. The schnitzels appear to be the thing to order, as others enjoyed those. I had the venison, which the waiter asked for a cook temp (med rare) but delivered well done. It also stated it would have chanterelles but instead came with button mushrooms. The waiter didn't come back to check in for over 15 minutes so I couldn't even raise the issue. At that point, it felt unhelpful. If the menu item has altered, tell guests before they order, especially when it's for such a less expensive ingredient. And don't ask for a cook temp if you can't meet it. Wouldn't return given the price point. Better restaurants in the area.

However our meal was not one of the first served as some of our food was missed delivered to another table. I didn't feel that the bread and butter was outstanding for the price as it was over toasted. We did like our main course choices as all of us cleaned our plates. The view was outstanding as we were able to see both mountain and river. Expect the cost to be higher because of the location and the view versus just the food itself. Well we enjoyed our meal we did find that we enjoyed other places that cost a little less more while on our trip. Also our service was not bad but our server did enjoy chatting with other tables which might have led to some of the delay of our food being bright as we were in the restaurant for approximately 90 minutes total time from sit down to paying our bill.

Servers know NOTHING about the menu and are all but absent from the front of house Chef can't season a meal to save his life ZERO attention to detail ------------------------ I can't begin to describe how awful this restaurant is, but let me try. I took my wife to Radium for our anniversary, and I asked the hotel concierge to make romantic dinner reservations for us. The package I bought also included a complimentary breakfast, so the idea was to eat at this establishment twice (BIG mistake). When we got to the restaurant, there was no servers on the floor, and no hostess at the front desk. They had been open all day, and the place was empty.. I suppose this should have been our first hint. We seated ourselves, and when the server finally arrived, she brought us waters in the ancient plastic cups. This would probably be OK if we were at Smitty's, but we were not, we were supposedly eating "Fine Italian Cuisine". Every time the server came to the table (drinks, orders, etc), we inevitably had questions about the meals... she had NO answers, and had to ask the chef about everything. Also, many items that we wanted to eat (Items that WERE on the menu), were unavailable, and we had to make alternate decisions (this should have been our second hint). When the complementary bread arrived, we were given re-heated rolls and plastic single-use butter containers instead of a nice whipped butter dish. With the bread, we ordered some calamari, and when it arrived, it was terribly undercooked and quite disgusting. Dinner arrives and out comes my wife's $32, 8oz, medium rare steak... it was well done, completely unseasoned, and dry as chalk. WHO PAYS $32 FOR CHALK??? My chicken was average, I ate it and paid for it, but we sent the steak back. We went back the next morning for breakfast, simply because I had the voucher and it was free... well not quite free. The concierge told me that it was a complementary breakfast, but gave me a $25 voucher... this voucher will NEVER cover a breakfast for two when you're charging $3 for a coffee and an average of $10 / plate. ANYWAYS, against my better judgement we went for breakfast, and again, everything my wife asked for was UNAVAILABLE... at this point she was DONE. No more eating, just get out of her face. I chose to try the soft basted eggs, toast, hash browns, and bacon. The hash browns were completely unseasoned (just like the steak from the night before), and the eggs were like slime... I actually gagged a little when I saw them. Now I have NEVER sent a meal back in a restaurant, so sending my wife's steak one night and my eggs the next morning was very out of the ordinary for me. In conclusion, this is the last restaurant on the planet that I would recommend you eat at. In fact, our server from the first night even suggested that we eat elsewhere...

Last year when we came I had ordered the same Schnitzel but it came with a bearnaise sauce and I didn't enjoy it because of the taste. When I said they used to she informed me it has NEVER come with that type of sauce. To me it felt like she was arguing the point with me. She then said do you want another server and I said no that's fine. She walked away and a short time later another waitress (Grace) came to serve us. The first waitress obviously didn't want to serve me and I felt this very insulting. I then ordered the Special which was the meatloaf, which had the type of sauce (gravy) I was asking for. Which was very delicious. If it wasn't for the very pleasant young girl who met and seated us at our table and Grace, the experience was very unpleasant and upsetting to a point that I was not going to come back.
