Okay so i will be completely honest in this review. Theres some pros and cons to this nail salon…read morebut honestly, I've just accepted the fact that no nail salons in the Calera/Alabaster area fit my expectations and thats okay.. Pros: The man who did my nails did an amazing job. Shaped them the way i wanted and colored them nicely... Cons: Messy aftermath and confusing prices. When i looked at the price list, it said $12 for a color change on toes and 17&up on fill in. Okay cool, im thinking im walking out of there not paying over $40 for a gel fill-in and color change (I know that gel is usually $10-$15 up charge). Lets do the math, 17+15+12= 44 at most. I got charged $51 for a fill in and toe nail change and im a bit confused why? I maybe shouldve asked but regardless, Ill just drive to further location for a nail service, i kinda feel robbed.. ALSO, theres a 3% charge on debit card users? Maybe thats where a little of the extra money came from? I dont know but its weird to me...

I stand behind every word I put in my first review, I'm hoping this isn't going to remove it. While…read moreI was VERY unhappy with my experience there, I will have to say the younger gentleman that usually does the pedicures, does a great job, he is kind, careful and makes sure you're comfortable. The ladies that work there are ok, they do a good job, if you just want tips and paint, anything beyond that is shaky ground. The man is horrible!!! He can put nails on, and if you can overlook his bad attitude, you may walk out satisfied. I did that, the 1st time, now the 2nd time went a little differently...a person that's paying for a service can only take so much. When it got to the point he is basically throwing my hands around, "NO" being his answer to everything, (I asked if he could marble one of my nails, btw marbling isn't that hard) and telling me to hurry up and pick my color, he didn't have time to wait on me to look at the different colors, just pick one! Then got up said some jibber jabber I couldn't understand and walked to the back of the store, where the door was opened and I guess he was having a cigarette, and just left me sitting there. The younger guy finished my nails, he was nice. This paint they basically picked and I was just like ok, ended up making me want to throw up every time I looked at my nails, so I had to go to Kim in Montevallo and have them repainted and pay for that, but it was so worth it! Been going there every since. Back to the review; so when the guy was finished and I was in line to pay, which if I had it to do again, I would've just walked out and left. The old one waltzes up front and I was livid by this point, so I gave my opinion and a couple of suggestions. Still payed $44, didn't get an apology, discount, nothing...well I did get a lesson...when ppl show you who they are, believe them the 1st time. Also, if you want something other than a paint job and bad attitude, go to Nail Star in Montevallo Kim & Sue are GREAT!

I needed a self care day to help regulate my nervous system. I had heard of head spas before, and…read morethey sounded absolutely dreamy, but I had never tried one. I wanted the full experience while keeping the cost reasonable, so I searched Groupon and found a few options. With a promotional code, I purchased a 60 minute head spa experience for only $54! It included a head and scalp massage, aromatherapy treatment, and herbal welcome tea. What a steal! I called to ask how soon they could get me in, and to my pleasant surprise, they had an opening later that same day. I was elated! I also made sure they knew ahead of time that I would be using a Groupon in case there were restrictions on the days or times it could be redeemed. There were no issues at all. The GPS led me to the parking lot beside and above the actual storefront. It took me a few minutes to find the entrance because the business is tucked into a small strip between the upper parking lot and the larger shopping center on the other side. I included a video to help others locate it. Once inside, I was checked in and given a two page history and information form to complete. I recommend arriving early enough to check in and finish the paperwork before your scheduled appointment. Otherwise, you may lose some of your relaxation time so they can remain on schedule. If you are using a Groupon, they will also need the redemption code to enter into their system. When it was time for my appointment, I was taken to a private room and given an elastic towel wrap with snaps. I was instructed to remove my shirt and bra and put on the wrap, which was comfortably plus size friendly. There were also small drawers available for my personal belongings. Once I was settled, Makayla came in and placed a wedge beneath my knees for added back comfort. She asked a few questions about the information I had provided and discussed any scalp concerns with me. She examined my scalp with a small light and explained the steps she would be taking, which I believe included a four step process. When I tell you it felt incredible, that still does not fully capture it. The experience exceeded my expectations and was exactly what I needed. Between the washing, rinsing, scalp treatments, and gentle shoulder massage, I could feel myself finally relaxing. When the treatment was finished, Makayla instructed me to get dressed and told me she would return to brush out my hair. Yes! That was an extra touch I did not know was included, and I absolutely loved it because having my hair brushed is one of my favorite things. The entire experience was amazing and came at exactly the right time. If I had the means, I would make this a regular part of caring for both my mental and physical health. I do have one small critique. The head spa room was quite bright. It has an exterior window as well as an interior window that allows sunlight from the front lobby to stream through. Spa settings are usually darker to create a more peaceful atmosphere. While they do place an eye mask over your eyes during the process, there is something about walking into a dimmed, peaceful atmosphere. I learned that they had only relocated to this building a month or two ago, so perhaps darkening the room is still on their list. Even with the brighter room, this was an incredible experience. I left feeling relaxed, cared for, and very grateful that I decided to try it.
