Rodger and Joann had previously been at another shop and gotten great reviews, so that's why I picked JR Nails. We were able to make a same-day appointment, but they also welcome walk-ins. When we arrived, there was one client getting a pedicure, and Joann and Rodger were ready for us. Another client walked in after we started, and they got to her pretty quickly, too. There is a large TV on one wall to watch, and signs indicating they had wifi available, but unless you're getting a pedicure, there's no reason or time to be on your phone. Another sign indicated that several beverages are available on request. The color choices were vast, and they give you the swatches from which to choose while they set up. All three staff worked quickly and efficiently. Even with the other two clients there, we were out in about an hour. At the front desk, they also offered us a piece of chocolate before we left. I'm trying to get my nails back in presentable order, and they've made me self-conscious lately. I walked out super happy with how they look and will return more often to get them done.

This paint they basically picked and I was just like ok, ended up making me want to throw up every time I looked at my nails, so I had to go to Kim in Montevallo and have them repainted and pay for that, but it was so worth it! Been going there every since. Back to the review; so when the guy was finished and I was in line to pay, which if I had it to do again, I would've just walked out and left. The old one waltzes up front and I was livid by this point, so I gave my opinion and a couple of suggestions. The young lady doing my pedicure did a fantastic job! Here's where it went bad, they drilled my gel off my fingers instead of soaking it. Making my nailbeds hot and sensitive. The polish job looks like an amateur painted them. There's polish on my skin, two crooked nails and I had to ask them to smooth them out when they were done. I'd barely call it a polish change let alone a manicure. No lotion, no cuticle trimming, they did file them. They look terrible, one nail the polish is already coming off a few other the polish is smudged and not well done at all. I won't go back for them to fix it because I don't want it drilled off (so soon) and further damaging my nails.

No...it's so much more. I left my high-end hair stylist days behind me for an amazing, affordable (dare I say cheap), high-quality stylist named Halie Carter. This girl is a diamond in the rough. I'm worried she's going to realize how great she is and start charging triple their prices, which is what I used to pay (and then some), because let me tell you- SHE COULD. I met Halie when I was wandering through the hair products one day and she stopped to help me. I explained to her a health problem that narrowed the products I could use and she knew exactly where I was coming from and led me in the right direction. In fact, I expressed my frustration with below average stylists who charge an arm and a leg and leave me wanting more. My main problem is my white hairs. I am 28 and have a thyroid issue that has caused the pigmentation in hair around my crown to go away. They are basically clear and incredibly stubborn to color, and the rest of my hair just turns brassy because it does not react to the chemicals in color very well. I gave up asking for trendy styles like balayage and was going to ask for a dark dark brown to cover as much as possible, which is what I told Halie, for whenever I found a new hair stylist. She told me not to give up on my dreams and that she could do it! For the price, I figured why the heck not give this girl a shot? She's only 19 and fresh out of cosmetology school but she knows her stuff. I have attached before and after photos from the two times I have visited her and she does not disappoint. She is also very easy to talk to, personable, and honest. She asks for help if she needs it and does not try to cover anything up- she is very transparent and works until it's perfect. I recommended a friend to her recently too and she loved her as well. I can't wait to see Halie again! Oh, and there are always coupons if you sign up with your email.
