I cannot say enough about my experience with Back in Balance. From the staff, who are always smiling and eager to assist you, to the doctors who know you by name and treat you like a good friend, to the treatment that is so very effective, 5 stars is not enough. When I first started going, I was a mess. I had been in an auto accident. I had arthritis in my back and neck. I couldn't sleep on my right side from the pain in my hip and shoulder. I was in constant pain from the moment I awoke until I went to bed at night. I was taking over the counter pain relievers and sometimes prescription pain medications, none of which were helping. I also knew that these same medications could be doing damage to other areas of my body. I slept poorly since I kept waking up from the pain. I really was miserable. I went in for an evaluation and Dr. Rob set up a treatment plan for me. It's taken some time but anything worthwhile always does. I am now down to going once per week and most likely soon will be once every two. I rarely have the need to take any pain medications now of any kind! I can do things now that I haven't been able to do in YEARS and with no lingering after effects. I'm so very grateful for the marked improvement in my life. I would recommend Back in Balance to anyone who's been dealing with chronic pain and wants to improve their physical and mental well being. My only regret is that I didn't go sooner. I have had ongoing spells of back pains for 20 years , and received treatments by several Chiropractors. Some of the treatments did not do a lot of good, and caused more pain in my pocketbook. Proper care of our bodies pains requires routine follow up visits. You must realize that your body did not get that way over night , nor should you expect it to be cured that fast. However it helps if your Doctor pinpoints the pain to start with. This is exactly what Back in Balance Wellness Center has done for me! A few years ago my pains became severe. My primary care physician ran every test on me that exists. Due to the nature of the pain moving around my back, they decided it must be kidney stones. None showing in x-rays. Pain medications , muscle relaxers, pain patches , back ointment. Massages, were not working. I was reluctant to go a Chiropractor again but decided to give it one more try. The only one open for me was 50 miles away. I was put through a few very short test and told my pains were originating from my rib cage. One hour later I was at least relieved of the pain by 75%. Started 2 visits per week, then once a week, every other week, to once per month. I was starting to think that I was terminal before this. I find the cost of the visits to be very reasonable. I started going to Back In Balance for acupuncture after meeting them at a health fair at the University of Maine. I had experienced it on vacation for knee pain with great results and wanted to continue with that. I have enjoyed that immensely and have continued to benefit from it. When I injured my back the end of January, My acupuncturist Ashley got me in to see Dr Dan right after my appt with her because I could barely get up off the table and she knew i also needed an adjustment. He gave up his lunch time to fit me in because my injury was so severe and he could see how much pain I was in. It took 6 days for the excruciating pain to become manageable when it should have taken longer than that, because he taught me how to increase the benefits of the adjustments with heat compresses and stretching exercises which i did faithfully. I am seen for massage prior to my adjustments which causes the adjustment to last longer and continue to receive accupuncture. I have been a long term patient of BIB starting with serious back pain going back 20years. Long story short I seldom have any pain unless I do something stupid! The staff does an amazing job to say the least; I have never been so well cared for. Dr. Dan is master of his craft and I can't praise him adequately. As an example; two years ago I experienced sharp pain in the upper left side of my chest. I went to my MD; ( a great Doctor) and after examining me he was concerned it could be heart related and wanted me to get either a cat scan or MRI, I forgot which one. I saw DR.Dan the next day for my regular visit and told him of my chest pain. He smiled and said stand up and turn around. He then told me to raise my arms and he wrapped his arms around my chest placing his thumb on my sternum and gave a quick snap and the pain stopped immediately. Turns out I had a dislocated rib! I have been a patient of Dr. Rob's for at least 5 years or more. When I first came to Back in Balance Wellness Center I had pain in the lower back, neck and shoulders. I had difficulty getting from a position laying on my back to my feet. I had to roll over to my hands and knees and get up that way. After only a couple of weeks with Dr. Rob I was able to get up normally. Over the years I have had different issues arise. Pain in my jaw, shoulders, ankle and knees and Dr. Rob and Dr. Dan were able to help with all those areas. I have also benefited from Massage Therapy and Acupuncture. Great office staff! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I can make appointments that work with my schedule. And I can always call in for a same-day appointment if I need one. I first started with acupuncture a little over two years ago. I got some relief for my back pain but it lasted for only about a day afterwards.
