My experience with Cahaba Pain and Spine was disappointing…read more I was a patient for approximately six months and did not feel that my concerns were adequately addressed or that there was a proactive approach to managing my pain. Despite ongoing symptoms and significant impacts on my quality of life, progress was limited during my time there. One interaction that particularly stood out involved a nurse practitioner who repeatedly insisted that I maintain eye contact while speaking with him. As a neurodivergent patient, difficulty with eye contact is well documented in my medical records. Rather than accommodating that difference, I felt pressured and uncomfortable during the appointment. Healthcare providers do not have to fully understand every neurodivergent experience, but patients should be treated with respect and without being made to feel that their communication style is a problem. What ultimately confirmed my concerns was that after transferring my care to another pain management practice, more diagnostic work, treatment planning, and meaningful intervention occurred within days than I experienced during six months at Cahaba. Every patient's experience is different, but based on my own, I would not recommend this practice for neurodivergent individuals or for patients seeking a collaborative, proactive approach to pain management.

Staff also strictly enforcement of rules, times & Dr. Moons orders. Doesn't really accept any excuses/reasons for being even 1 minute late, reschedule nor not following orders. He will flat cut you off or stop seeing you as a patient if strict orders are not followed. Expect constant drug tests, bloodwork to confirm that you're following orders as well as at least yearly MRI/Cat-scan recertifications. If you truly have an chronic issue he is great for digging in and helping. If it's not a Chronic issue and you have no documentation to prove your conditions then this Doctor is probably not for you. If you're over medicated and needing help then this doctor is a good choice. I have over 5 years of experience with this Doctor and took issue with the strictness as a new patient so be warned this is not a get what you want practice, it's a get what you minimally need practice as far as medicating. There's no fools here if you are just looking for something short term I wouldn't go to this practice you probably won't be happy with the outcome. Some insurance he takes some he doesn't. BlueCross is not accepted but you can send bill in to BC for reimbursement. Dr. Moon is pretty smart in a lot of areas when it comes to hormone replacement, vitamin deficiency, metabolism, bones, muscle, the back & neck components with pain management. However he is pretty head strong he knows what he knows and you are not going to change his mind. Overall he is a good doctor and cares. He has a lot of special certifications that I have not seen other physicians have in this area.

I did PT elsewhere immediately after surgery and had improved to the point where I didn't have any specific pain related to that during workouts, but I still wasn't back to the strength/stability I had before, making some movements still pretty difficult. My recent surgery went smoothly with no issues at all. I was walking without assistance after just one week, driving again within three weeks, and back to my normal activities after five weeks.
