I had a bacon cheeseburger with Kapuskasing poutine. My wife had the daily special Jambalya. My kids had pogos, grilled cheese, and pizza fingers between them. My burger - the burger itself was good. Bear in mind, that most of their servings are Canada Food guide portions. So my burger was small compared to what I'd get at the local Casey's, or A&W. However the taste was great. The Kapuskasing Poutine - The difference between this and regular Quebecoise poutine, is that this one features cheese curds from the local cheese factory. The curds are soft and tender once warmed in the gravy of the poutine. I'd rate it in the upper echelon of poutines that I've had in my life. (Sorry Ryan of Smoke's, your poutine would run to its momma crying if it tasted this treat) My wife's Jambalaya - it must have been good she wouldn't share any with me. Hers also came with a homemade cherry cheesecake. She and my teenage daughter loved it. Prices here were very reasonable!

We've been going there for the last few years, while visiting family in the area, and have purchased from them at the Royal Winter Fair and from a couple of specialized retailers in the area. I honestly cannot say that I dislike any of their cheese - but for me the Mattagami and the Missinaibi are my favourites. Their cheese doesn't last long in my household and my wife and I try and hide it from the kids.

Then, they generously let us sample every single cheese that they produce. Our favourites: 1 year aged The Mattagami (so good, crumbles like a cheddar and with a little bite); The Kapuskasing (with ash - reminiscient of the cheese that I ate years ago, while hiking in the Pays Basque)); The Saganash (creamy and full- flavoured). Both the tour and the website are filled with information about what the Fromagerie has to offer. OK, Yelpers, you should just go to Kapuskasing right now and try this cheese! Seriously! (which I ordered) The Singapore noodles also came with shrimp and I'm allergic to sea food. thankfully it was my husband who caught this and not me. I called Thong la's and their response was "next time I'll know" I said ok? but now I have a 17$ order of Singapore noodles that cannot be eaten. I was then told "well I'm not paying delivery to pick up and bring another order. disgusting! Everyone makes mistake. The mistake isn't what bothered me. What bothered me was that they weren't willing to accept fault or loss and felt it was fine for the customer to accept a loss. I was a regular long term customer of 23 years. I will never be back again. I expected more from a business I have been loyal to and gave my business to for such a long period. There has been enough loss over the years on my part due to their mistakes and putting of with rude people.
