first time in today and I had a groupon, which can be risky. Rita gave me a cut and a style plus highlights that i wanted to be subtle but noticeable, in a pastel pink shade. I showed her the cut and shade and specific placement. Somehow she gave me EXACTLY what I wanted! The value was remarkable and she gave me at least 2 hours of her time. she was friendly and took her time to really listen. she is the co-owner and has 30 years of experience, if I'm not mistaKen. even though I not be able to get the groupon deal again, I will be returning. When I inquired about the regular price, what it would cost without the Groupon, Her prices were very reasonable. read more

Went in for a Groupon for a haircut and wash and was treated very poorly by Marilyn. Right off the bat she seemed very bothered to deal with me. Barely greeted me, didn't put a towel for my neck at the sink, and squirted me in the face multiple times when washing my hair and did not care. During the wash she said she needed to charge me more because I have long hair. My hair is just to the bottom of my shoulder blades and she said I would have to pay $20 more. The Groupon I purchased was $20 so she charged me double when my hair isn't even that long. I already paid for the Groupon and my hair was wet so I stayed and paid the money even though I thought it was outrageous. It was really disheartening to be treated so poorly from the very beginning. This happened a couple of weeks ago and has been bothering me ever since. Marilyn didn't even give me a chance. I think she judged me because I used a Groupon. I have a friend who goes to her and once I told her what happened she said she would never go to her again. Needless to say I will never be back either. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in with a photo of myself how I had my hair before AFTER getting a haircut and I loved it. Going to backstage was a HUGE mistake. Marylyn asked me how sort I wanted my hair. I said I wanted it MID WAY BETWEEN MY SHOULDERS AND MY ARM and showed her with my hair it was only like 2 inches off as in my own photo. When she got done you would have thought I asked her to cut all my hair off. She cut it SHOULDER LENGTH and about 5" It reminded me of the this is what I asked for and this is what I got pics people post online. For the record I will not be returning back to somebody that does as they please and not as one asks. I understamd stylists aren't magicians but DAYUM this one isn't even a a stylist at least she shouldn't be anyway in my opinion. read more

It's ok.....maybe its because I had a Groupon for haircut and style..... She shampooed, cut and styled my hair in 30mins... I'm not used to that. she was rushing, and everyone else was taking their time with their clients, I felt rushed out. I asked for an inverted A line. When I asked for choppy/textured ends, she did 3 chops and put the scissors back down on her counter. I still tipped her. Maybe I shouldn't have. When I went home my ends felt thick and bluntly cut, not how I wanted. She did say if I had any problems come see her, but I think if she can't do it the way I wanted when I asked, she may mess it up more if I go back, or end up making it shorter. My daughter and I were looking for a salon last week, unfortunately we found this one with a sign in front saying walk ins welcome. I looked up some reviews and they all said great things, so we went in. The people were super friendly, but the two people that cut our hair did an awful job. It was a complete hack job. I just wanted 4 inches straight across and layers framing may face. She botched it. We will not be going back. read more

New to the area, I used a groupon deal to try a haircut with Marilyn at Backstage salon. She did a decent job and I was happy thinking I'd found the stylist for my hair for the forseeable future. I made an appointment for color and highlights, very excited to have my hair professionally done for the first time in several years. While on my way out the door for my color, I received a call from the salon telling me Marilyn had to cancel. Ok, disappointed but willing to make another appointment. After waiting a few more weeks, I arrived at my 2:00 appointment at 1:45. Just before 2 I saw Marilyn take a woman back to shampoo. I incorrectly assumed this would just be a quick trim. At 2:30 another stylist approached me and asked if I'd been helped, since I had been sitting there for 45 minutes. I confirmed that I had a 2pm appointment with Marilyn. The other stylist said "Marilyn is just finishing up". Marilyn had just finished the cut and hadn't started drying and styling. I got up to leave and the other stylist asked if I would reschedule. I said absolutely not and walked out. At no point did Marilyn acknowledge me, or offer an apology or explanation for missing my appointment. There was an utter lack of any professionalism or courtesy. This was such a disappointment! Despite the sketchy looking location and run down salon, I was willing to drive across town to be a repeat customer with someone who did a good job. Apparently Marilyn is so secure in her clientele that she can take another appointment and cause a potential long term client to leave, mad as hell and ready to post multiple bad reviews. Thanks Marilyn, you ruined my afternoon, wasted my time and gas. I hope squeezing in that cut and style was worth it. Dawn C. read more
