Don't go to them if your mixed race or have curly hair. Jules had a nerve to leave my daughter's curly hair in a poof and to say "my next appt is here I don't have time to flat iron"! Are you kidding me and for the owner to not discount and say "We are all curly hair specialist" get a clue about curly hair it's not all the same and no your clearly not to leave hair that looks like someone who had a blow dry but stood out in the rain! That's beyond crazy! Trust me business will be something I will never refer to you! This is why we very curly misxed race individuals go to Dominican salons they always know what they are doing! I was able to get an appointment for the next day for a wash and cut. While in the chair, my stylist suggested what she would be able to do if I decided to color correct my hair. She gave me the pricing and it was extremely cheap. She was able to schedule me in between her next two clients and I was out in 2 hours. Sarah was extremely friendly and personable. I just wanted a very basic trim. I was able to get a next day appointment and the wash & cut was only $29. The stylist (Rachel) was very friendly and talkative which I appreciate when I go somewhere new. I'm just so glad that there is a place in town where I can get a basic trim without paying an arm and a leg! This is a long over due post. Like it should have been made in February when it happened not in October when I finally felt confident enough to post it. I called and made an appointment with a stylist (asked for someone in particular). When I showed up another stylist had me. There was a mix up in bookings. That's fine I get it things happen. I asked for black and white hair. Stylist said she could do it. However, she went into the back (which is not completely blocked off) and I heard her talking to another stylist about not thinking she could do it. When she came back she said it might not be the exact same as black and white but she would get it close like black and grey. I agreed to it. I had to bring my special needs kids as plans changed at the last second and I didn't have someone to watch them. The whole process took 5 hrs. I was already stressed about my kids being there and how I was being treated ( stylist kept going in the back and talking bad about me) that when everything was said and done I just left. My bangs were not cut the way I wanted them cut and they were lopsided. My hair wasn't even close to being the color I wanted. The color was blocky and not consistent. Stylist essentially kicked me out of the chair and sent me home with unstyled damp hair as she had another client. I ended up calling back and having the original stylist I wanted fix my hair. She did a great job in trying to fix my hair but my hair was ruined. Not only that but the manager was rude and made me pay the second visit (as my hair was so ruined I needed multiple visits to get fixed)! I don't mind tipping the stylist who fixed my hair but I shouldn't pay for them to fix my mess up. In hind sight I should have never agreed to go to go with someone that I didn't book with and I should have done a charge back from my bank. I am now 7ish months from the initial botch of my hair and am STILL trying to fix it. I had to wait to give my hair a break and along with the choppy bangs and choppy hair cut in the back I've had to let things grow out. The stylist should have never agreed to do a hair cut she was not comfortable with. Last but not least, when I called to get my hair fixed AND when I was in the chair getting my hair fixed the manager and two other stylists admitted that they knew she screwed up BEFORE I paid and left the first time and knew I'd call and ask for it to be fixed. So they let me pay knowing I'd have an issue and be coming back. That's shady business right there. I am in part to blame as well since there was so many red flags I ignored which is why I gave two stars. I can't recommend Avery's. Manager had an attitude to employees and customers. I also wouldnt be surprised if I get rude feedback or deleted feedback about my review from someone at Avery's. Rachel had no clue what she was doing. I appreciate Chelsea trying her best to fix Rachel's screw up but the damage was done. read more

Thanks to Yelp, I found yet another winner. I moved to Colorado Springs in July and haven't had a hair cut since June because of the nightmare experiences in the past with stylists that said they knew what they were doing with my long naturally curly hair and they didn't, to say the least. I looked up the reviews for Avery Salon since it was close to my house and decided to give it a shot because, heck, my hair desperately needed it! I got an appointment with Veronica for color, cut and style. Veronica was awesome! She took the time to listen to me complain about my past hair nightmares and gave me a few suggestions for the cut to make my curls lay better, look less frizzy and made a great color choice. I left there with a great cut and all over color that took less than 2 hours (and with as much hair as I have that's impressive). Best of all the price was very reasonable and I am happy with the results and don't have any nightmare stories to add to my collection. So, if you have naturally curly hair, go see Veronica (although I'm positive she's great with other hair types, but curly hair people - you just know what I'm talking about). SAVII* was my stylist and she did such an awesome job. She gave me exactly what I wanted. When my hair was finished I decided my goal was to go lighter than the finished product. Savii was reluctant to let me come in the following day and tone me a level lighter! Savii did nothing wrong she gave me exactly what I asked for but was still willing to help me achieve the right hair color I wanted but couldn't express! 10/10 will go back. read more

Kudos where kudos are due. This place is amazing. Chelsea went above and beyond. She is a master of her craft. She took so much time listening to what I wanted to do with my cut and color and I got the most beautiful color my hair has seen in years. The cut is absolutely perfect as well. First time In this place they were closed during their posted business hours. I attempted to go again the next day & was able to get a hair cut without much of a wait. I went back a few months after & attempted to try & have something done but was told I had to wait 2 hrs even though two of the stylist were just sitting around talking, I left & said I was going to be back the next day. Went back & was told there was nothing available so I asked if I could just book an appointment & was told I could do it online or over the phone since they were busy. I tried to access their website but was not lucky, kept getting an error saying the site was under construction and when I tried calling nobody answered the phone. I contacted them via Facebook at around 5:30pm & didn't get a response back until after 7 saying they were unable to see what was available since it was after hours. Great haircut at a great price! Loved my stylist she quick and checked in as she went. I got 5 inches off with layers and framing. I prefer just a cut no wash or dry which are optional here! I tried to schedule an appointment, and I did, but when I showed up, the person that was going to do my hair had a family emergency, and they wanted me to reschedule. They wrote my phone number down wrong so they couldn't contact me. They then said sorry we can give you $30 off I said ok i just need a color and no cut, so we reschedule for Tuesday." So I show up a little early and they weren't ready so I waited a little bit and then sat in the chair and she looked at my hair and said sorry it will take 3 hours not 2 and they close at 7pm because once again they wrote down the wrong service I wanted and still didn't make it right. If I would have known this was going to happen I wouldn't have ever given them, not one, not two, but three chances to make this right. I have never been to Colorado before, and for them to tell me, come back Thursday, I would be a fool to give them another chance because for all I know, they would have done it again. My husband had training for the military and had only so much time to enjoy Colorado but we had that stolen when they did this to me and now I may never get a chance to enjoy Colorado's beautiful lakes !! Based on the great Yelp reviews, I decided to come here for a simple hair cut (just a wash and a couple inches trimmed off). I made an appointment on a Tuesday afternoon, and they were very accommodating when I called to push it back 30 minutes and then ended up arriving early anyway.
