Price is very reasonable, spent less than 150pesos/person (drinks included). Don't expect too much from the food your eating. Sisig was a very thin layer of pork on top of a sizzling plate, at least it had an egg. Pork BBQ had a very good portion, good flavor and it was very soft. This place provides service water and unlimited hot soup for all its customers. Only issue why their not getting 5 stars is that their order counter is so slow. Place is on the noisier side, but good space between tables. A/C was ample to cool the place. Highly recommended if you're in the area and on a tight budget.

The grilled smell was very inviting and it tasted nice and sweet. Meat wasn't tough and the fat content was minimal. Beef Samgyupsal On-Stick, on the other hand, had more pieces of fat but it also tasted just as good. It would've been better if it had less fat and if the meat was cooked longer. Some parts were also harder to chew, like a string you almost couldn't pull hard enough to snap. I recommend preparing your own rice at home if it's for takeout or delivery, because theirs had bits of uncooked rice.

It looked a bit small from outside but once they opened the restaurant, we stepped in and noticed how far back those seats go! Interior's another thing; very well-lit, inviting with a sunset palette and lively vibe despite us being the first customers. The crowd started building up later on and when we left, a number of tables were already filled. FOOD Since this was a first-time visit, we focused on the pork options since there were already 8 to choose from (and 2 for chicken). Unfortunately, we had no more room for chicken either because we were SO FULL from all the delicious meats and banchan (side dishes). Skirt Meat and Rack were the most meaty while the Pork Belly, if cooked right, would give ya a nice chicharon experience! Cheeks were actually cute and very interesting to eat. We made sure to cut them into smaller pieces midway, because they are curled up like me when I sleep sideways. Gotta get all angles cooked! Cooking, overall, was so fun and we took turns doing it so the other could have more time to eat; teamwork! Free spicy soup was available but I passed on that and focused more on the fish cake-type of banchan plus the cheese dip for the meats. This place offers very satisfying options! SERVICE Everyone did very well! They were easy to call for assistance regarding the grilling surface, refills and bill payment. Knowledge of the menu was also apparent.

Needless to say, during my November, 2024 vacation, I had to stop by here for a snack or meal which occurred on the evening of Wednesday, the 13th. Established in 1936, The Aristocrat is one of the oldest restaurants in Manila and historic landmark recognised by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines with a marker at this original location on Roxas Boulevard, recognizing its contribution to Philippine culinary history. An iconic spot famed for its homestyle Filipino delights like Lumpiang Shangahi (₱415), Crispy Pata (₱975), and Halo-halo (Blanco ₱160, Regular ₱180, and Specia l₱220), the long-loved brand has won the hearts of Filipinos across the country and is still a favourite up to this day. Situated in the vibrant Malate district, conveniently on Roxas Boulevard, the venue offers diners a picturesque view of Manila Bay, which adds to its charm. The place also has ample parking in the private lot and the interior design is clean and well-maintained. With the onsite bakeshop and store, bright lighting, and 24-hour service, The Aristocrat captures diner vibes while welcoming guests to a warm family-style setting with tables grouped together. Showcasing the best of Filipino culinary culture, the extensive menu at Aristocrat boasts bold, lively flavours served in satisfying portions. Signature dishes include the celebrated Chicken BBQ & Java Rice combination, widely considered "the best chicken barbecue in town," and the iconic Aristocrat Adobo Flying Saucer (₱190), a toasted, circular bread pocket filled with savoury chicken adobo. Each dish is thoughtfully presented and every bite serves as a rich celebration of Filipino cuisine. Below are some of what we ordered at my most recent visit: Fresh Lumpiang Ubod (₱175) - This was Uncle Bolo's order. He enjoyed the shredded ubod (heart of palm) sautéed with pork and shrimp, perfectly wrapped and generously poured with the savoury-sweet and thick peanut sauce topped with ground peanuts and fresh garlic. Crab & Corn Soup (₱98) - The thick, creamy broth filled with sweet corn kernels and shredded delicate crab meat was enjoyed for its warm, savoury flavor, mirroring traditional Filipino-Chinese comfort food. Fried Lumpiang Ubod (₱188) - I'm not a fan of lumpiang ubod, but those who ate this starter enjoyed the crispy texture of the eggroll, especially paired with the spiced vinegar. Gulaman at Sago (₱98) - The Filipino sweet, thirst-quenching iced beverage of gelatin cubes with chewy tapioca pearls in a brown sugar syrup was refreshing and beautiful in presentation. Kare Kare (₱925) - Each spoonful of this classic peanut-forward stew of beef and vegetables was full of flavour. Bistek Tagalog (₱450) - This classic, comforting rendition of the Filipino beef steak, featuring thinly sliced lean beef marinated in savoury soy sauce and tangy calamansi juice and topped with caramelized white onions was impressively tasty and tender. Pinakbet na Baboy (₱330) - This dish featuring a medley of vegetables - such as eggplant, green beans, and bittern melon - and pork sautéed in a savoury shrimp paste is one of Mom's favourites. Unfortunately, she wasn't super impressed with Aristocrat's version. Ginataang Laing (₱225) - This Filipino comfort dish of taro leaves and pork bits cooked in coconut milk and topped with shrimp and siling labuya (small, fiery chili pepper cultivar) was richly creamy, slightly spicy and deeply aromatic. 3-PC Chicken Barbecue (₱345) - This is Aristocrat's iconic dish, often cited as the flagship meal of the legendary Manila-based establishment. Their famous Chicken Barbecue is composed of three pieces of chicken (typically drumsticks and/or leg/thigh cuts) that are marinated, skewered, and grilled to a tender, juicy, and smoky finish. Served with Java Rice (a bright yellow-orange-coloured, savoury rice) and homemade Atsara (a Filipino pickled dish made from grated unripe green papaya) both of which bring out the tastiness of the smoky chicken. Pork Barbecue (₱300) - Two sticks of tender, marinated pork skewers grilled to perfection, typically served with Java Rice and Atsara. Dalyn replaced the Java Rice for white rice to complement the sweet, smoky bites of pork. Fresh Green Mango Shake (₱180) - My shake of fresh succulent green mango fruit blended with light syrup and crushed ice was a perfect balance of tangy and sweet - YUM! THE Aristocrat RESTAURANT's warm, polite and attentive service with nostalgic ambiance and delectable, well-presented dishes have made the establishment a beloved spot for both locals and tourists alike, a must-visit for the heart and soul of authentic Filipino fare.

We did this on purpose so everyone would leave back to work on a weekday and had the place to ourselves and what an experience. The kansi so good (the taste is completely satisfying just add chilis :)..). Unli refills on the soup with melts in your mouth meats still Attached to bone and digging in on the bone marrow was insanely good and we paired it with the grilled chicken. We highly recommend you try it. Street parking after the front driveway spots are taken and beware of the parking lot folks that prey on customers assisting but wanting to be paid afterwards. Only thing you should be aware of is parking. Street os free for all so We parked on our own street-side and ignored the guy collecting a fee. If they were assisting during parking, then we would tip them but this is not mandatory. Plenty of spots on the street definitely.

Bulalo is beef soup made by cooking beef shanks and marrow bones until it becomes a clear broth. Sinigang is a mouth watering braised pork soup using Tamarind as a main souring ingredient. Now, what is Kansi? Kansi is a cross between Bulalo and Sinigang; it's Ilonggo's version of Bulalo. For me, it's the best of both worlds! I love the clear beef broth with the hint of sourness. Pat Pat's Kansi is found in a humble, residential area and it is visited not only by people living in the neighborhood but people who live all the way from Alabang go here to eat Kansi. I'm just lucky that Pat Pat's is literally a few blocks away from Carlo's house. (All the soup I want!) You have 2 choices in the way you want the soup served: Kansi Bulalo (with the bone) or Kansi Laman (no bone, just the beef meat). I always get the Kansi Laman when I'm sharing with others (plus, it's the cheaper option at only Php145). But, when I need to feel extra better after a "bad day," I order the Kansi Bulalo. There's something about eating hot soup with gelatinous bone marrow. *drools* My favorite combo is the Kansi Laman with grilled pork belly. When I'm extra hungry, I also order their Chicken Paa + Chicken Isol (Chicken tails). Wash it all down with Fresh Buko! YUM! The only downside is that they close early. :( I don't know about you but, a bowl of hot Kansi goes so very well after having a couple of drinks with friends!

If you're tired of the same-old 1-piece or 2-piece chicken, why not get yourself a 4-piece meal?…read more I am a big fan of Chicken Chicken's food. It's this small karinderia-looking place along Estrada Street, a block away from Benilde Hotel. If you see the Santisima Trinidad Church, you've gone too far. This small place hasn't changed a bit since I was in college--it still has the monoblock chairs, the big wide open window which will make you feel like someone would serenade you while you're eating (that's true though during Christmas), and of course, their food. Chicken Chicken doesn't give you a lot of options on their menu but they sure make up for it for with the quality and quantity of each serving. Believe it or not, they serve 4 pieces of chicken for every order. That'll already last you until dinner! Aside from the chicken, another bestseller is their Liempo. Don't forget to dip it in their signature sauce! For all meals, you can choose to have plain rice or order the garlic rice which I love. Last tip: the owner manages the restaurant herself. She may get cranky at times so bring a lot of patience. I promise you, the food will totally make up for it!

Sounds like the recipe for an adventure, yeah? Exactly what I thought, so I hitched up my pants and ventured so far from the safety of DLSU's Taft Avenue, I almost cried. The restaurant itself blends so well with its residential surroundings that I kept passing it without realizing it was there. After a few instances of taking out my phone, pretending I got a text while I inconspicuously turn around, I found Chicken Chicken and its owner who is always a wee bit short-tempered. It's not her fault, there are people constantly streaming into the place. It's her against about a thousand people every day -- even Ghandi would be like SHUT UP I KNOW YOUR ORDER'S COMING WAIT. The name 'Chicken Chicken' should be an indication that their flagship meal consists of two large as heck pieces of chicken and their signature dipping sauce. Be prepared to shell out extra for two (or seven) more cups of rice if you're gonna enjoy this fully, but since the meal itself is less than a hundred pesos, it shouldn't be a problem.
