I ordered a turkey sandwich with tomato and cheddar cheese. It was quite delicious. It was fresh off the griddle, and while simple, it was packed full of flavor. I had a bottle of water, and also bought some local licorice. I love licorice, and it was definitely one of the better licorices I've ever had. Overall, this place was the perfect tasting food after drinking wine and walking around all day. Our only problem was that it looked as if it was suppose to be a faster food than said restaurants in the area. We wound up waiting about 30 mins for two sandwiches. Considering this place is suppose to be a fast causal, they should work on the fast portion of their business model. The manager was very helpful in explaining the menu and offering her opinion. I got the buffalo chicken wrap with ranch instead of blue cheese - AMAZING! My friends were also very satisfied with their meals as well. We also got a soup to take home for later. After a long days of sight seeing we decided to try this little place. Workers were extremely grumpy and not friendly. Never said hello or explained the concept. There is menus at the counter and highlighters where you mark what you want. The signage on the front of the place and inside mentioned pizza.... no pizza menu or mention insight. Most basic overpriced deli I've never had. $60 for 2 grilled cheese and 2 deli sandwiches with 3 drinks and 2 bags of chips. It took a good 20 min for them to make it and we were the only order. After last nights experience at Hop Lot, visiting Bad Dog was a delight. We have been up the peninsula dozens of times and never payed attention to this location. We past it heading North and looked it up as we were driving (passenger). When we came back we stopped in and Ardy the cook/counter/server was awesome. I asked some questions about drinks, if we could drink inside while waiting and as we all know the answer was no. We ordered the special of the day, Turkey Club. We waited outside on the porch/deck and had a few drinks. Shorts Pint (2) and a Peach cider. After our sandwich was made, Ardy brought it out. We finished our drinks and went in to pay. We talked to her about the location, the impact of covid and she showed us the other side of the restaurant/bar that is open for dinner. She explained the outdoor seating and what time it opens and closes. During a time when people can be nasty and rude, Ardy treated us with great hospitality. The sandwich was awesome. We only eat Boars Head at home, so to see all of the sandwiches in the deli are made from BH, reaffirmed our desire to eat and enjoy the sandwich. We also bought one PB chocolate cookie which she gave us off the fresh baked tray. When we are back in TC, during normal times, we will definitely be back to Bad Dog. This is the most basic of delis, in the middle of Old Mission Peninsula...maybe 8 or so Boarshead meat selections, several cheese selections and several bread selections; the sushi-bar-style menu lets you tick off what you want on your sandwich, and the they make it to order. There are also salads and daily soup, sandwich and entree specials. On the day we visited we ordered the specials, which were respectively a Buffalo chicken mac-and-cheese and a Buffalo chicken wrap. The mac-and-cheese, which was topped with browned panko and was served in a ginormous portion, was extremely dry; so much so that I found it difficult to eat. The bleu cheese flavor was pleasing, but there was very little evidence of Buffalo sauce/seasoning in the dish; and the chicken, baked inside the macaroni, was also dry. So that was a disappointment. The Buffalo wrap, by contrast -- just a simple chicken wrap with Buffalo sauce, mayo, lettuce and tomato on a tomato wrap -- was quite tasty, but nothing special. If you get hungry while touring the Old Mission Peninsula and just need a casual nosh in between wine-tasting and sightseeing and recreating...this is a convenient refueling stop; but again, be aware that this is about as sparse a deli as you will find. if you're looking for local atmosphere, I might recommend the historic, funkified Old Mission Store, at the northeast end of the peninsula, which serves simple meals and is quite an interesting place in general. read more
