I havent been on yelp in years but checked reviews at this favorite haunt and was surprised to see people giving two stars because the water tastes different. I guess im used to it and didnt notice. This place is a great little gem with an amazing vibe and atmosphere. It's impossible to be in a bad mood in this place! The patio is adorable and the bar is lively. I went by myself last night and everyone who worked there smiled at me. As a townie im happy to hit a place at 7:00 and get in, though the patio was full. There was a big friendly dog so they are welcome out there. It's better than bar food and carries my favorite wine, Bowers Harbor Pinot Grigio. It would be a fun first date place. We passed this place a couple of times while visiting wineries in the peninsula, just about dinner time se we decided to check it out. Interesting place with a tavern style vibe. We opted for outdoor seating. The menu had some interesting selections, my wife ordered the Fish and Chips (Perch and Fries) and I ordered the Pan Seared Walleye. The food came in a decent amount of time. The Walleye had an amazing sauce which was a nice compliment to the walleye, and I actually dipped some of my wife's fries in it. I gave it 5 star because of the grill atmosphere, the food was delicious and the new server (her first day solo, forgot her name) did an excellent job. Stopped by after our trip to see some lighthouses. Local establishment and the staff was great. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and vast menu. Had the wings, loaded fries, lobster bisque. And the walleye. The loaded fries were a hit. They were plentiful and had very good toppings. The lobster bisque was a little too fishy and wine forward for our taste. The wings were dry. The walleye was very good. Nice crusted fish with asparagus and potatoes and a butter sauce. Overall good spot to stop by for a good meal if you're in the area. read more

This rustic place had a large bar with plenty of outdoor seating as well. The menu had a New American type of cuisine with lots of intriguing choices. The service was appreciated and the food came out quickly. Two appetizers were ordered, the crispy Brussel sprouts ($13.95) and tuna nachos ($17.95). The Brussel sprouts were flash fried with grated parmesan and a balsamic drizzle. These had good flavor with plenty of parmesan. There was a ton on the dish too. I would have liked more of a balsamic drizzle present and a tad crispier. The glaze was the key. The nacho had diced fresh tuna, house-made wonton chips, green onions, pickled carrots, and onions along with an avocado crema. These were not bad. There were jalapenos that appeared fresh and the best item on the dish. The tuna was a little bland by itself, but when combined with everything, it was okay. The house-made wonton chips were crispy and flavorful too. Will I go back? Most likely. read more

This is such a great restaurant and bar. The location between two great Wineries is perfect. We enjoyed a late lunch. The food was delicious. We shared the Walleye tacos and the Mac and Cheese. The food was good, we had Walleye. However, the water they provide is terrible! It literally tastes like it has metal in it. One would think that water that tastes that bad would be substituted with bottled water given the fact their pricing structure and the inexpensive cost of water. He ordered the walleye tacos and said they were good. I had the Cherry Chicken (or Chicken Cherry) salad; it was okay. The wait staff was efficient but not really friendly. My husband and I were on vacation, visiting the various wineries along the Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail, when we discovered The Peninsula Gill on Yelp. The setting is charming with a lovely patio area, and the staff was quite friendly. Not wanting a ton of food, we decided to share an order of the Chicken Pepper Jack soup, along the Mexican Corn Dip, and a Smash Burger. The soup stole the show! To be honest, I initially didn't think it sounded appetizing because I'm not a huge fan of pepper jack cheese, but much to my pleasant surprise, it was out of this world!! It was filled with huge tender pieces of chicken and pasta. Yum! The burger was excellent, too. The Mexican Corn dip was OK. It had a little too much cheese to our liking. one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a while. my friends and I started with the artichoke dip and while the dip itself was decent, the chips were super stale. we mentioned it to the waiter but they did nothing about it. I really wanted to like this place but will not come back. Not in this lifetime or the next. The smashburger was not a smashburger but a severly overcooked 4oz patty with no seasoning or flavor. To charge over $17 for a burger is atrocious, specially when the side it comes with is chips - not housemade chips, but bagged chips. Northern michigan has way more to offer than this place. Do yourself a favor - skip peninsula grill and go down the road to jolly pumpkin or in to traverse city for a more worthy experience. read more

Hidden away in the mission point peninsula is this fantastic spot! My wife, fur baby, and I stopped by for lunch looking to escape the bustle of traverse city for a little. We had an amazing experience! Our server was so friendly, had great conversation, and accommodated our pup with sincere exceptionalism. Not only the food (and the fantastic battered fries), but also the service was comforting, welcoming, it was epic! We ordered the bbq pork house smash burger and walleye tacos which exceeded expectations by a mile! Give this place a try, bring your dog, bring a good vibe, you'll have a good time. This is a very nice local bar and restaurant that is comfortable and welcoming. The staff were very kind and helpful, we even met the owner and talked for a while. They had a lot of variety for drinks including local wines and ciders. We wanted to try different wines and they even let us share a glass in two glasses. My wife and I have been coming to the Peninsula Grill for several years. It is (or was) one of our favorites. The last several times, we noted that the servers were stretched thin so we took the slow service in stride. However, our most recent visit on 7/26 was very disappointing for the following reasons: Again the service was slow, but again we took it in stride because our server was attentive and courteous when she could work us in to the many tables she was serving. The music was loud enough to make conversation difficult, but the song selection fit our taste, so again took it in stride. We ordered the margarita pizza which in past has been our favorite dish. Unfortunately, this one arrived with a burned upper crust and a doughy bottom crust. We would have sent it back, but did not want to wait another 20-30 minutes for another one. And finally, the precipitating event that prompted this review. The plates provided us for the pizza were not clean. Either they were washed poorly or not at all. When I say "not clean", I am referring to food still encrusted on the plate and a general look of a hazy covering on the plate. Will we return to the Peninsula Grill even though we live close by? I work 3 hours from town every week building decks, shout out green shield deck building, I some times for get to pack lunch but it not a problem they have the best sandwiches and best wraps I have had, I'm still waiting to try the salad next time but they are fast and very good at what they do if yall ever in traverse city or around stop by and there food read more

My husband and I love eating here and the view along the peninsula is beautiful and never gets old. The cherry chicken salad is wonderful and my husband loves the perch. Staff are all very sweet and the experience is outstanding every time we visit. We will be back soon. read more
