I actually found this spot on Yelp while checking out recommendations from other Yelpers visiting Traverse City. The customer service was top tier from start to finish. You place your order at the register, then choose to dine inside or outside, and they bring the food right to your table once it's ready. The food itself was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Bohemian Burger with a pretzel bun. It was perfectly cooked and flavorful. My husband went with the Rodeo Burger with sweet potatoes fries. He loved it. The shakes are also great. They also have a kids' menu, which made it easy for our family. We purchased three kids' burgers with fries, and the kids ate every bite. Great service, great atmosphere, and fantastic food. Highly recommend stopping in if you're in Traverse City!

We visited slabtown burgers on a recent trip to traverse city. We enjoyed the burgers and can see why everyone recommends this place. I wish they were open on sundays but look forward to going back!

ONE OF THE BEST BURGER & MILKSHAKE SPOTS WE'VE EVER BEEN TO! An old house transformed into the cutest lil spot. We were greater by the friendliest staff who walked us through the menu. They were super genuine and helpful to answer our questions. The menu was big and offered a wide range of selections. We ended up ordering Rodeo burgers, French fries, and milkshakes. The burger patties were thick smash burger style. I appreciated the abundance of meat on each patty, which I feel like is lacking elsewhere sometimes. The milkshakes were delicious and reasonably priced as well. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of shaded spots to sit outside. We were there at 2pm on on weekday and it was packed, a great sign of a great restaurant. Highly recommend this place if you are around Traverse City!

What's lifer of a chicken rodeo burger. So good I barely got this pic before it was gone!!

I love it when it's an easy full five-stars. Big blue burger is stuffed with amazing deliciousness. Yummy good. The rodeo burger with grilled chicken, tots, chocolate chip cookie and a TVC chicken salad and to drinks were $45 out the door. Fresh. Made to order. Love tater tots. Order inside and sit in or out. Great for sunny fall afternoons. Service is good in a town that I think struggles to keep service oriented help after the season is over. Set in a historic house with a wrap around porch and tables out front, there is a rustic bit of charm here. Would come here any day!!

I saw Slabtown Cafe on some list that had best hamburgers in each state. So while I was planning a trip to the Upper Peninsula, I put it on my list to check out. Man am I glad I did! We got here at like 1:30pm on a Tuesday and it was pretty crowded. We were able to find a table outside on their porch I ordered a Sweet Lincoln (burger with bacon, grilled onions, Swiss cheese and garlic honey mustard on a smashable bun) an order of onion rings and a black cherry cream soda to wash it all down. They brought it all out in a greasy brown paper bag so I knew it would be good. The burger was phenomenal! I'm not sure I've ever had a better burger and that's not hyperbole. I really can't think of better burger. The onion rings were really good and the black cherry cream soda was a unique soda to wash it all down. If you are in the area, hell even if you aren't in the area, do yourself a favor and get a burger from here

A unique and fun burger joint with innovative combinations housed in an old house in a residential area near "downtown" traverse city. We arrived a bit after 1 on a beautiful August Thursday and the place was still buzzing from the lunch rush although we didn't have to wait long to order (which is done at the counter). They take your name with your order and come find you when the food is ready (took about 5-10 min). The menu has a number of specialty burgers like the rodeo (what I got) which is a bacon cheeseburger topped with onion rings and BBQ sauce-very good although a tad too well done. My wife had one with cherries, blue cheese and sautéed onions that she enjoyed. We also got some of their hot crispy fries and a couple of drinks (local soda company). Definitely one of a kind place with a fun atmosphere.

What a surprise. On front street looks like a house remodel into a restaurant. Very charming and great hometown feel. Burgers are delicious. We had the stuffed burger, the mushroom burger and the black bean burger. All were wonderful. We had onion rings and tater tots, both were delicious. I highly recommend the root beer

To die for burgers & sweet potato fries! It's a tradition to make this the first top! Don't skip it!

Service was outstanding. The slab town special was exceptional! Can't recommend enough. Add that to, the sweet potato fries with their signature dipping sauce, hands down a must have. The ambience has a Starbucks feel. Highly recommend!

Slabtown is a TC staple that shouldn't be missed and should be repeated regularly. The staff is always friendly, the restaurant is always clean, and the food is always delicious. They have an extensive menu so there should be something for everyone. Seating is limited to about six 4 tops inside, but they do offer outdoor seating either on their patio or on their porch. They also have a ramp for accessibility. Hands down one the best burger joint in TC and the fact they serve shakes makes it even better. If you're looking for a fresh and fast burger fix then Slabtown should be at the top of your list.

This burger has Candied Bacon, Pepper Jack Cheese, Grilled Poblanos, Lettuce, Grilled Onions, Chipotle Bbq sauce. The burger was very good. However it's not the best burger I've had in TC. The candied bacon was good, but not candied enough. There also wasn't enough of the bbq sauce. The quality of meat was good, but again wasn't the tastiest I've had in TC. The burger is definitely worth getting with the caveat that it isn't exceptional. The burger comes with Great Lake Potatoes Chips, due to they give you a pond of fries if you order fries. I didn't. I did order a Chocolate Shake ($9). It is a thick shake and reminds me of a Frosty, just more chocolaty. I enjoyed it, but I love frostys. The service was enthusiastic and friendly. Overall a solid 4 star review. Would I return? Yes, I would. Sometimes you crave a smash burger and this definitely hits that bill. Definitely worth a visit.

The Oliver (triple) was exactly what I'd been craving in a Michigan-style olive burger. The pimento olive spread was generously slathered on to the crispy lacey-edged smash burger patties topped with Swiss cheese on a nicely toasted brioche bun. The olive spread was perfect...just enough to be bursting with flavor, but not so overpowering that it dominated the entire burger. The fam tried The Junction and The Laura, both on lightly toasted Gluten Free buns. The Junction (Glendale's version of the classic Oklahoma onion burger) was very good, and the GF bun was met with positive reviews. Glendale even offers GF fries, which were excellent (their normal fries are seasoned & battered; but the GF fries were a bit better). If you're looking for a thicker, juicier burger, this is not your place. These are straight up paper thin, crispy smashers. And if that's what you're looking for, I'd recommend no less than a double, if not a triple. Drink selections include bottles of various Northwoods sodas, sparkling water, and other choices from the cooler. Glendale presents as an old-school diner, with cool decorations and some posters of Saginaw heritage (the owner's roots). Speaking of the owners...the lady working the register and delivering food to everyone was one...and she was super sweet and nice. It made for a great experience right out of the gate as we were figuring out what we wanted to order. You walk up to the counter and order, then they deliver to your table; or you can sit on a stool at the counter, just like a classic diner. Plenty of seating, but when they get busy, it fills up quickly, yet the service remains fast for the cooked-to-order burgers & fries. Décor is fun (they have a Big Boy!) & fitting for the diner vibe. The entire place is extremely clean and well kept. Pride of ownership shines through in the entire experience.

When we ordered, the bartender didn't drink which made it hard to know what certain beers taste like, but honestly, no judgement because he did the right thing and offered tastes of beer which was awesome and helpful! So service wise I would say great! The beer tasted really good as well and was decently priced. They had a bourbon barrel stout which was pretty good and newly released. The biggest issue we had was with the food. I ordered the spam sandwich with chips and my wife ordered the chicken quesadilla. While the food was cheap, the quality of the food also seems that way too based off what we ordered. The spam sandwich was supposed to be teriyaki flavored, and didn't get any of that. There wasn't a lot of thousand island dressing on it too, which made the sandwich dry. The chips that were served were clearly out of a bag as they were cold, which made it seem like I could have just gotten a bag myself. I would have paid a few dollars extra to get something fresh like fries. While spam comes from a can and I know this, my wife's chicken quesadilla had chicken that was clearly from a can - it was sopping wet, and the meat was very chunky, and very salty. This made us worry the rest of the food may not be very fresh. While we did have that experience, I will say the pretzel bites were really good and did seem fresh, and they were sourdough! So that was nice. I think this place has very good beer, and a really cool bar setup with a nice stage, arcade machines, and much more. However, I wouldn't come back here for lunch. Instead, I would make food at home. I would highly recommend more fresher options, and I would pay a little more for better quality food.
