Wow... and not in a good way. For years, this was our go to place for Mexican. Fifty percent off on Thursday nights was the best deal in town. However, after covid, the food and service went downhill and we finally gave up and hadn't been there for over 5 years. Yesterday I saw an ad that they'd be having food and drink specials for Cinco De Mayo today and decided we'd try again. Bad decision. We arrived at 10:30am. Fewer than a quarter of the tables were occupied. It appeared that all of the booth seating had been removed, which we prefer. We were instructed to seat ourselves, but couldn't find a table that didn't appear "sticky". We sat and then waited and waited and waited. Eventually they took our drink order and gave us a menu. There was no indication on signs or menus of ANY Cinco De Mayo specials, nor did our hurried waitress mention any. Had we not ordered a paid drink, we'd have left after seeing the new menu prices. The new clay drink cups were very bulky, cumbersome and did not sit flat on the tables. As someone with arthritis in my hands, I found them very difficult to lift. No one brought chips and we'd all but decided they must not be serving them at all. After about 15 minutes a gentleman brought chips to our table. There was literally 10 chips in the bottom of a basket for us to split. Long after we'd finished them, the man returned and asked if we wanted more. I said yes, but he never returned. Twice during our visit, we saw him run over to Food City to pick up supplies to bring back. It was another long wait before our meal was served and by this time the lunch crowd had started arriving. It got quite busy and we couldn't even get refills for our water glasses while we waited. Meanwhile, we saw a guy that appeared to be an owner/manager chatting with guests. He never came to our table, nor did he jump in to help when lines were forming at the register or when tables needed bussing for arriving guests. It took approximately 40 minutes to get our food while being inundated by smoke fumes from the kitchen and paint fumes from their apparent remodel. When the food finally arrived, we were not impressed by the portion size for the price. It was $12 for a mini chimi (no beans or rice) and was the size of a half burrito. Nothing else. It tasted ok, but was definitely not worth the price and it was quickly finished. We then waited again for the bill. The waitress picked up our plates and twice came by saying she'd be "right back" with the bill. She wasn't. Once we finally got the bill, we had to stand in line at the register and wait yet again. What happened to the Cinco De Mayo specials and why were they so unprepared??? Being a Mexican restaurant, this was your day to shine! This visit was incredibly stressful for us and we felt that they were extremely unorganized. It will be AT LEAST another 5 years before we try again. read more

Another great meal at Bad Miguel's. We ordered the Asada Burrito and low carb quesadillas. Both were fantastic. I really loved all the guacamole in the burrito. The drinks were fantastic and my wife loved her margarita. The service was professional and polite. But there was no spark. The entire restaurant had a subdued feel. I took away 1 star for the service. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. It has a great vibe and I enjoyed the wall art. The bathrooms were immaculate. Stopped in here after a fishing tournament. Was craving old school mexican food. This place didnt disappoint. Chips, salsa, house margarita followed by a simple taco and enchilada plate. We stopped here for lunch on the way to Lake Havasu and were glad that we did! Great family owned spot. You can tell how much the owners care just from the artwork on the walls and the friendly service of course. Everything we got was great! Prices were great, huge menu. Fried Chicken taco, chicken soft taco, chicken enchilada and beef and chicken taquitos were yummy. Rice and beans were solid sides. Fried ice cream was big enough to share and delicious. The food and deals here are amazing. I've come here three times for the lunch special. Today for instance I got a chicken quesadilla with rice and beans and plenty of delicious chips and fresh salsa....for $7! Left with a very full tummy. It is as good of Mexican food as I have found anywhere. The environment is clean and cheerful. It was impressively busy today, nearly every table full. I can't understand the bad reviews. Lake Havasu City is a wonderful get-a-way spot for thousands of tourists all times of year. The river, the hotels, the desert to explore, and Bad Miguel's! This Mexican restaurant is home to both tourist and local alike. A big hit with the off-road racing crowd too. Located in a strip mall on the west side of US95 off Kiowa Avenue, it is easy to find and lots of parking, even if you're towing your sand toys or boat behind a three quarter ton truck. Bad Miguel's is not too big, not too small, I call it cozy with vibrant menu full of all your favorites. A full page of lunch specials are served from 11 until 3:30, the Flautas are a personal favorite of mine. On the dinner menu you cannot go wrong with the Chili Colorado either. A full bar with amazing and creative Margaritas await you as well. The staff is just a bunch of cheerful folks who make the experience of eating here all that much better. Everything was wrong!! First off we waited at least 15 mins before our order was taken. We ordered one large menudo, Texan omelette and special 2 eggs, sausage and potatoes. All three ordered were very disgusting. Asked to speak to mgr. No mgr. We told the lady the potato's on the two platters were bad tasting tasted bad (dirty oil) the menudo was loaded with hominy very few pieces of tribe were very hard! In the men's restroom there were cockroaches running around!!!! We were very disgusted and dissatisfied. Please make this right! Or I will be contacting the health dept!!!! read more

I'm really picky about My enchilada sauce and I didn't care for theirs. It was too strong and tomatoie, YUK! Enchilada sauce needs to be more like gravy. And the tortillas were tough! Not tender enough. Also, the taco was tough and chewy; not crispy. Like the cooks were inexperienced. It's pretty hard to ruin a taco, but they did. read more

I heard an advertisement on the radio for this place and loved the name. I was in town so had to try it out. I had Janice's special, Chile relleno casserole with carne asada and guacamole and sour cream with rice and beans. It was delicious! I cleaned my plate. We have been coming for a long time and it seems the place is really slipping. Food has become less quality but we stuck it out. Tonight we show up about 90 minutes before their posted closing time to a locked door. So we knock and the "waitress" comes out to tell us that they decided to close early. She then proceeds to tell us that we should have called first to see if they were open. So now it's OUR fault that you decided to close early. Places wonder why they go out of business. Our favorite Mexican food spot traveling in Lake Havasu! We tried their asada burrito, chicken flautas, machaca brkfst plate, machaca brkfst burrito and it was ALL delicious. The red and green salsa they had at each table was great too. The mango margarita was so good we had to get a couple each time. Service could be better but overall the food kept us coming back.
