I have been to Bad Weather a handful of times over the years and have always enjoyed myself. Located just outside of downtown on West Seventh, Bad Weather has a sizable taproom and nice outdoor space for enjoying your suds. IPAs and pale ales seem to be where Bad Weather shines, which is the way it should be as far as I'm concerned. The flagship Windvane is always a solid go-to and Hopcromancer is a very good West Coast IPA. The taproom has an ever rotating selection of other styles as well. Food trucks can be found on site nightly, there are nearby restaurants and it's a short trek to the edge of downtown and the Xcel. Along with generally friendly service this is a taproom I would get to more often if I lived on this side of town. read more

Cool brewery blocks from downtown St. Paul. The decor is classic micro brew with lots of seating and great view of the brewing operations. Bartenders were friendly and had a good knowledge of the product offering. A few IPAs on the menu and some lighter stuff for the folks who need training wheels. Looks like they have a decent outside table area that I assume you can use in Minnesota during the 2nd and 3rd week of July only. It's cold! Hopcromancer was my favorite. Decent crowd for early on a Tuesday evening. I don't have or like dogs but it is dog friendly. A few video games and a juke box round off the decor. Parking could be a bit tricky but we were eating at an Italian restaurant across the street so we parked there but I assume that lot is for restaurant patrons only. Great atmosphere! Outdoor tables, indoor tables, a food truck, and games available to play. Not too loud either. It's a popular place and was quite crowded at 5 pm on a Sunday but there was still space at the bar for us to sit. I got the sour they had on tap and it was sooo good. Sour and fruity without being sweet -- how a sour should be. My partner got the hefeweisen and was unfortunately a bit underwhelmed. She said it was too heavy and went down "like a brick." But to be fair, she did finish the drink. We didn't stay long but while there we had a pleasant experience. Bartenders were nice and bathrooms were clean. Looks pretty kid friendly -- lots of people had brought their kids along and they were playing games and hanging out. There was also a dog on the patio so I can't speak to their exact dog rules but there was at least one dog there outside. read more

This was an excellent taproom to visit and drink at - clean and fun and spacious, with a diverse array of beers and styles. The beer was good-to-excellent (I did a beer flight) - their flagship IPAs really excelled - the Windvane is an excellent Red IPA and the Hopcromancer a juicy, citrusy, hoppy delight. They also had a sour on tap (Sour Ominous from their nicely-named Climate Change series) that was great and a milk stout (Mammatus) that was a bit of a disappointment (too sweet). Their prices are incredibly reasonable, whether for in-house beers or takeaway growlers. The taproom itself is well-designed and feels like a great, welcoming space to hang out in. Special shout-out to the brewery's resident artist, Lucas Gluesenkamp. I've never been so impressed with a beer's packaging - six pack boxes and beer labels both. They capture the mood/style of the beer and the weather theme wonderfully. (Having visited Minnesota in late May to get greeted by cold, gray weather in the upper 40s, their mission statement to "produces ales that are Untethered and Unpredictable, just like the weather here in Minnesota" seems like more than an empty slogan!) The decor/artwork in the taproom itself (a lot of it Star Wars-themed) was excellent as well, and added to the great vibe. If I had a couple of very small quibbles/areas where the place didn't meet my preferences, I'd just have to note that (1) it seems like a very popular place for people to bring kids, and based on the board and video games here, is geared as such. I understand that's a business choice, and welcome for a lot of beer-drinking parents... not trying to criticize, but be aware if that's not (or is!) your preferred bar vibe, and (2) I don't think they do regular tours (though online it looks as if you can book a private one - I do enjoy getting a more thorough feel for a brewery if/when possible). But these are personal preferences - its really a fine space with a cool vibe serving great beer... what more can you really ask for? read more

Bad Weather Brewing has some super tasty beer and great patio space. While parking is a bit of a pain it's totally worth it for some tasty brews. They brew a variety of styles from hoppy to sour to dark with some really great flavors. My two personal favorite beers here are Tippin' It Down (Earl Grey tea infused into an ESB style beer) and Immortal Toast (a white coffee stout). They have some really tasty seasonals too and some really interesting beers brewed with wild rice. For COVID times, they have really done a great job with adding crowlers and having growlers so that you can enjoy their beers from the comfort of your home too. In warmer weather they have a good amount of table space outside but they also have a good number of indoor tables too (although it's takeout only for COVID now). They are dog-friendly too (when they open again). I love that I can get some beer to-go right now to support them. I'm looking forward to visiting them when it gets warmer and having a brew on the patio. read more

We came here on Sunday after Grand Old Days. To be honest, we had never been here before and chose to go here because it was one of the only breweries nearby that was open on a Sunday...it ended up working out perfectly! They have a small lot out front, but plenty of street parking, so we were able to get a spot right away. I only drank water while here but my roommate got the "Migration" beer which he enjoyed. They have a great selection of craft beers, so I plan to be back and try a few. Outside, they have picnic tables, a bag toss game, and giant Jenga. Off to the side, there was a food truck parked. They have such a nice space out front and it's such a terrific place to hang out in St. Paul. Part of what makes breweries popular, are their atmosphere, and Bad Weather has a fun and light-hearted ambiance for everyone! read more

We had just got done with a round of golf and decided to check out this local brewery in search of a refreshing IPA. While there were only a handful of IPAs on the menu, I decided to try a recommendation from the bar staff and got the Hopcromancer American IPA and wasn't disappointed. The location was busy due to a humane society event (which we loved) and a local food truck on the patio, but the atmosphere was great! Bad Weather is easily my favorite brewery in St. Paul. The menu is seasonal, and each time I go there are new beers to choose from. In the winter, the Coffee Ominous (Nitro) is my go-to. The brewery is very clean and the atmosphere is great for group outings. I always enjoy chatting with the bartenders, who are very friendly and patient with me in my indecisiveness choosing a beer. The back room space can also be rented out, and they host a number of events throughout the year for corporate events and nonprofits. No particular bells and whistles to this taproom, but casual and always easy to find seating for a beer. Taps rotate seasonally or more and some of my favorite brews here are the Cherry Creek Belgian, Fog of War IPA, Comet Shower Pale Ale, and Hopcromancer IPA. Service is only by ordering at the bar, and never particularly friendly, but at $6 for a quickly poured pint I can't really complain. Food trucks also rotate and last night Chili Lime offered some great tacos. The light fixtures inside are cool, but more importantly, is it patio season yet?! Food (well, drink): Decent selection of beer on tap to choose from, although I found their beers a little on the bitter side, so bear that in mind. They usually have a food truck parked outside as well which is perfect for grabbing a snack with your drink. Venue: Trendy, fun, lively. They often have trivia nights, but on regular nights, they have some board and "lawn" games. It does get pretty crowded on trivia nights, though, so plan ahead if you want a seat. read more

All around, this is a fairly solid brewery. This doesn't break any new ground on beer (which is getting harder and harder to do), but they still make a good beer. The brewery space is fairly big and open. There is a lot of variety in seating, so no matter what your group size you'll find something. It also feels very family/kid friendly. It gives off the vibe of being somewhere that you could see meeting up with your friends that have kids. My only gripe with their space is the parking. The parking here SUCKS. Their parking lot is small and hard to get into. Besides that, no complaints about the space. The beer here is solid. I look to see if a brewery is going for the fences with flavors or sticking to the "classics" when I look at breweries. Bad Weather dips its toes into the bold flavors, but doesn't do anything to break new ground. Their classic styles are good, but not something I would hold up as a placeholder for all other beers of that style to follow. The beer is still good though, and there is enough variety that everyone will find something to their liking. They may not love it, but they will enjoy it. This again strikes me as the kind of brewery that you might take not big beer lovers to. If you are a brewery hopping pro, might be worth dropping in for the fun space, but I wouldn't say it is worth a trip to this alone for. 27/100 read more

My buddies and I stopped in during St. Patrick's Day and had an awesome time here until the very end. We made a stop here around 11:00 a.m. which was pretty early for a beer. We were able to find seats at the bar. The guys who took our orders were super cool and friendly. The brewery was spacious and it was easy to get drinks. We were planning to spend a few more hours here until we (politely) asked a waitress for another round, she turned around and gave us a bad attitude and said "Hold up! I'll get around to you" (in a super mean tone)! This left a sour taste in our mouths so we immediately closed the tab. We decided to take our money to another brewery. I am sad that this had to happen because the atmosphere was so positive. It took one person to turn this experience upside-down. I'm all about "customer service" and expect good service whenever I'm spending money to support any business. No offense to the kind gentlemen who helped us at the beginning. A lot of really fun, experimental options for beer plus the usual IPAs and pilsners but with also more fruity lagers and in-house sodas or radlers, all seemed to be $5 for a normal glass or you can get a flight of 10 oz. pours for $3 each. I love the art focus of the labels and the taproom. It also seemed to have plenty of seating, though the table chairs they chose to furnish their taproom with are the most uncomfortable in the world especially if you're on the bigger side. Definitely try to grab the bench seating or a bar stool instead. There are some arcade games from the 80s and 90s but all were quarters only and $1 a pop. The outdoor seating is probably really nice but we missed that boat and went on a cold, rainy November evening. They now share parking space with Waldmann Brewery & Wurstery so you can grab dinner there before or after but know that parking is tighter than ever. read more

Have been by this place a few times since it opened. It was always pretty busy so today after the latest snownami was able to finally stop in and try a couple of things. Its a big taproom that makes great use of what might have been a body shop or some light industrial facility in its formal life. There is one flatscreen, a couple of old school video games and a collection of board games to choose from. There is usually a food truck of some kind (today it was Habanero Tacos) which we didn't try since we had just had lunch. Had two beers. First, the Hopcromancer. It was a little hoppy, a little malty, a little citrusy. A nice drinkable beer. Good balance of everything. Not too overpowering so I figured it would go well with just about anything. I could have easily ordered another one of these and been happy. Also tried the Scarecrow's Friend which from its description is chock full of every woman's favorite things (pumpkin, wild rice, cinnamon, ginger). Wasn't expecting a whole lot but it was fabulous. Still completely a ladies beer in my probably sexist mind, but I'd recommend it. It was GOOD. They also offer their own sodas and a cider that I might have tried on a different day. Looks like a great selection of year round and seasonal brews so finding something to your liking should not be an issue. I can imagine what it must be like on a balmy summer evening with the garage doors up and a nice breeze blowing thru. Would be a great Happy Hour type place on the way out of St. Paul in the evening. There is a small lot in the front and another in back, otherwise you are going to deal with street parking on and around 7th Street. Overall, this is a good place to visit. What a great turn out for the grand opening! Lines were basically out the door and everyone was excited to grab a beer. There was a food truck, bags outside and candles lit everywhere inside. The venue was HUGE, some of the decor reminds me of a Surly. They also had a room with a barn door to close it off, might be used for private events. The reason why I gave it three stars was because I'm not a huge fan of the beer, I tend to be very picky. It was a chilly day and I was looking for a seasonal thick and creamy nitro - a stout/porter or you know, the basic seasonal 'pumpkin' or maple brew. The only option for a dark was a rye porter, which I'm not a huge fan of. I settled with the Tippin' it Down - Extra special bitter w/ earl grey tea on nitro. I give Bad Weather huge props to tackling this beer. You could taste the earl grey. I went with Leah G. and she tried the S.m.a.s.h. Pale Ale and it was ok. I would recommenced stopping in if you are in the mood for an interesting beer. The nice thing is that they have flat rates for their beers - $3 for 10 oz, $4 for 12 oz, $5 for a 16 oz so if you want to be wild, but don't want to spend $8 on something you are not sure of, there is the $3 10 oz! read more

Bad weather is hands down one of the best breweries in the Twin Cities. Their rotating selection of beers is always seasonal, interesting, and most importantly delicious. Sorry to burden you with my patronage. I know that times are rough, pandemic and all, and it might be asking a lot to expect someone to be kind about pouring a sample when choosing between two specific beers (not asking to sample them all) and I'm the only one at the bar or maybe mentioning that you are closing soon when purchasing said beer or before pulling the plug on the patio lights. If I wanted a shitty college bar experience I'd pay a buck for a PBR while blackout at about 2am and probably expect this treatment. I've also had better beer. read more

Went here for a few beers. The space is great-like the tables, large bar and bags outside. I tasted one beer and didn't particularly like it so I got the Blonde. It didn't taste like a Blonde at first and thankfully as it warmed up it tasted more like one. I also had a couple sips of their other beers. They were fine. Cool little brewery near central St. Paul, the staff were all real cool, they don't serve food but they had a food truck outside. I got the hopcromancer and empty rowboat, both really good. I would have stayed longer, but it was the day of the big snow storm in April so they closed early at 6 (understandably so) but there was a lot of space and it seemed like a fun place to chill, so hopefully if I'm ever back in town I can go back and spend more time there read more

Unfortunately I didn't get to try and beer since I'm pregnant, but my husband and parents both raved about their selection. This is the place breweries should strive for. In my opinion they do mostly everything right. Location: close to Xcel Energy Center. Staff: super friendly and knowledgeable to some newbie customers that had no clue what to order. Bathrooms: clean, modern. Accommodating to kids and looks like dogs can be on patio. Beer: ordered a flight of the first 3 light ones and hopscrommer. Also was given sample of lemon one. Also ordered Sun one in a pint. My sister and I sat at bar next to ordering station and made conversation with some people and it was fun to predict what people would order. We also bought the cool bad weather pom hat for $20. They have a variety of beer for all kinds of beer drinkers. Two small cons: remove the pinball/ videogames as no one was playing them as it would open more seating. The parking lot and street parking was limited. This place was busy on a Saturday afternoon and am sure they are printing money. read more

Very great atmosphere. My only reason for the 4/5 is the limited outdoor seating. I should note, it was the first beautiful day in a long time, 70 degrees. So everybody and their mother wanted to sit outside. The patio itself is huge, and could accommodate many more benches and seating options.
