Not much around Interior, WY Population 94. We were happy to have found a comfy place to sleep. This hotel/campground is very close to one of the entrances to Badlands National Park, a 5 min drive...why we were there. Comfy beds, friendly staff and a place to do laundry was what we got. It's not fancy, but you wouldn't be in Interior expecting 5 star unless you were totally lost. Bonus!! Robert is the camp kitty. Robert is a girl and LOVES affection. It was fine. Room was small but relatively clean, had a comfortable bed, functional bathroom, a mini fridge (located in the thing that looked like a chest of drawers) and was well situated to the park. Things to know- We arrived after the office was closed. If that happens to you, check the cork board to the left of the office door- your room/site location and room key (if applicable) will be in an envelope with your name on it. Similarly, if you check out before the office opens, there is a key drop. They don't do breakfast anymore. The store, located in the office building, has a modest collection of snacks for sale. The room only had decaf coffee and the bedspread needed a washing. read more

Howdy Pilgrim If youre a Wasi'chu lookin for a Place to hole up bit near the badlands, this is a mighty fine choice. It ain't the cleanest place and it's seen better days buy the same is true of you. The dont allow them noisy generators nor drunken foolishness neither. The place flood in heavy rains and them teepees are full of spiders and mud. However the folks here are reel nice. If ya go to Wounded Knee remember its a site of a great tragedy like the Twin Towers of New York. Walk up the hill to the cemetery and say a prayer. Leaving tobacco, water or food is a traditional sign of respect. If you meet a Lakota, who wants to sell you a Dreamcatcher, act like a god Good Christian and buy it for a good price. These folks are extremely poor. Do not ask to have your photo taken with the native. Do not take photos of natives either. Be the best version of yourself. God is watching. read more

We've been staying at this campground for 15+ years. It was family ran and always great. It was recently purchased by a corporation and it has been terrible. The pricing on the website showed ~$27 a night for a tent, when we arrived, they were charging ~$55. A total bait and switch pricing. And to note, the campground wasn't even half full. They also wouldn't apply the senior or military discount they advertise online. The pool they advertise, was non-functional. Breakfast is terrible quality and over priced in comparison to what they previously offered. It's a shame this company is ruining this campground. Stay away. read more

Nice campground with level sites and well stocked store. A good place to experience the old town of Interior SD. No issues with noise or people. We went to Rodeo in town. A couple nice bars that serve good bar food nearby. read more

Ugh. It is close to the Badlands Nat'l Park. The town of Interior does have a cool old western bar. But this RV place is unkempt and dirty. The bathrooms had broken fixtures, dirty floors. It does have electricity at the RV sites but that's the only reason to stay there. Pool was not in order. read more

We stayed in one of the hotel rooms. Pros: Night light in bathroom. You can park in front of your room. Newer flooring in bed area. Found mini fridge in what looked like a dresser. Easy access to evening ranger show at Badlands Park. Cons: Flies, lots and lots of flies. Had to kill a new group every time we came back into the room. Bathroom was horrible, would not even take a shower there! Toilet was made for a child, if you can't do a squat this is not the toilet for you! Deadbolt had what looked like super glue in it from the outside, so not a secure lock when you depart for a period of time. Looks great from the outside but the inside needs a good remodel! If you are a picky traveler, look for somewhere else. read more

I stayed in a teepee for one night in July, and it's definitely for the adventurous type. It's bare ground and my suggestion is to have at least a sleeping bag and pillow. If you plan on staying in the teepee, try to have an air mattress or elevated bedding. It can get quite cold at night and a warm blanket or wearing layers will be needed. I couldn't figure out how to close the opening on the teepee, so I was fully exposed. Definitely worth staying in if you'd like stories to share back home, and is a more affordable type of accommodation. Wifi was pretty decent, there were a few spotty areas on the campground, but you'll get better reception closer to the main office. The men's bathroom is small, two toilets and two showers; go early before the rush as people were lined up waiting to use the toilets. Tip: bring an air mattress or elevated bed if staying in the teepee. read more

Not very clean. They promises services that they don't have. When it's sparsely populated, they park everyone next to each other which reduces privacy . The office/store is not open when the sign states they are. And their voltage drop at the electrical hookup killed our rv air conditioner ( only delivering 109 volts) read more

The Badlands NP campsite was full, so we stopped here and were not disappointed at all. In the 2300+ miles we've seen a lot campgrounds and this one is good. The owner was pleasant and funny, we had a hookups to water and electric for about $35 with a beautiful view at the base of the Badlands. They have bathrooms and showers too they were clean and functional, a few fly traps would be great in there, but it's the climate not the fault of the camp. Note: We didn't check out the store or pool, but it looked like they had a pizza oven and microwave for campers, plus a menu of food served inside. I would stay again. read more

This place is not the newest hotel. It could be considered generally loved. The pull out couch should not be considered for anyone over 100lbs. What you get for the low price is close proximity to the Badlands. The owners are super nice and purchased this place 4 years ago. They are happy to share their experiences in the area for things to see and do. The night sky is one of the best in the country. The restaurant they have in the registration building is great and reasonable in cost. Toast and 2 eggs is $3.50. What did I learn today? 102 degrees in Badlands. Bring an umbrella! read more

Wonderful people in the office, and their dog Dakota is adorable! The beds were a bit hard (my boyfriend loved them) but the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and you can't beat the views from the little patio outside the front door. read more

We stayed in a camper at Badlands Campground for three nights. The gentleman working at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The office has a small store that is stocked with a good variety of essentials that you may have forgotten at home. We didn't use the laundry services, but did use the bath houses several times and they have good water pressure and hot water. This campground is in an excellent location and is just down the road from the entrance to Badlands National Park. There is also a beautiful view of the Badlands from the campground. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to visit Badlands. read more

Great location just outside Badlands National Park! But the motel room was barely acceptable for $100/night. The carpet was moist, the room smelled of mold, there were someone's hairs on and around the toilet, and when you opened the taps on the bathroom sink water sprayed everywhere--even on the lowest setting. The people running the place seemed really nice though. I think they are focused on the adjacent campground and do not keep up with the motel maintenance. read more

Called ahead to let them know we'd be pulling in around midnight and they were more than accommodating--they left our key in our room for us and let us check in and out at the same time the following morning. Motel was actually very clean, maybe the cleanest we've seen on our cross country drive. And you simply can't beat the view--you wake up looking out at the Badlands. read more

Needed pet friendly stay for a night . The room was spacious, and very clean. Only a mile and a half from Badlands National Park entrance, so very convenient for touring in vehicle or on bicycle! Staff very helpful and friendly too. read more

Stayed here several nights while with a group of fellow photographers in May. It's a family owned and operated motel located just outside of the Badlands National Park. Making reservations, checking in and out were all so easy. They were very welcoming and helpful. It was the start of their season. So, they were in the process of stocking up and didn't have much in the way of supplies, but they had all the basics in their little convenience store. My room was clean and everything worked. The bed was quite comfortable. There was a trash dumpster behind my room for the campers. I could hear that being open / closed at different hours, but most campers were pretty respectful. Should I be up this way again, I will definitely choose this motel. read more

This place is one of the sweetest places I have ever stayed! My boyfriend and I stayed there on a cross country road trip for a night, and we so happy with the time we spent there. It is located directly outside of the park boundaries (though you are still technically in "the badlands"), and had stunning views of the surrounding land. The little old couple that owns the place are about as charming as one could ever hope for from an old cowboy pair. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the best part of all...they serve pancakes in the morning made with a yeast starter that was brought across the U.S. on the wagon trail!!! A real treat, and definitely not something you run into every day. The place was a bit outdated, and was by no means a 5star hotel, but staying there was one of the best nights we had on our long coast to coast trip! read more

Stayed here last night and I have mixed feelings about this place. I stayed here mostly because I could use their free wifi. But what they dont tell you is that the wifi doesnt really work unless you are parked right up next to their office. I think its misleading to advertise free wifi at an RV campground if you cannot use the wifi from within your RV. I had to walk up to the office whenever I wanted to use the internet. Also, for some reason they assigned me to park in the worst spot in the entire site. Even though they were mostly empty, they parked me in the corner where there are several run down mobile homes with chickens in their yards. Oh, and the sewer pipes are above ground. Outside of that corner, the site was clean and nice and if you get a good spot then you will have nice views of the surrounding badlands. *if* read more

We stayed one night on our way to Sturgis. The rooms were clean and the owners are good people. We ate breakfast at the restaurant and the Sausage Gravy Biscuits are killer! Their sourdough pancakes are pretty good and are from a 100 year old starter dating back to pioneer days. read more

We enjoyed our stay here. The location is awesome - a mile or so from Badlands National Park Ben Reifel Visitor Center, and you really feel like it's just you alone in the middle of the plains (with a few RVs and motorcycles). We had a roomy 2 bedroom suite above the office/convenience store/cafe. Kitchen, large refrigerator, dining table, 2 sofas, ceiling fan in the living room area. Nice change of pace from Best Westerns and Red Roof Inns. (This was our 20th or 21st hotel stay this summer.) Strong wifi. Loud but effective AC. The room rate of $130 + tax was reasonable relative to other places that were available last-minute during the Sturgiss rally week, and for how much space we got. This place could really use TLC, though. The linoleum was warped and had multiple stains, the bathroom door had a hole in it, the sofas sag from age. The smaller bedroom has no window or fan, we kept the door open for sleeping (and breathing). The sheets and blankets are pilly. So, bring slippers, and lower your expectations. By the way, the cinnamon french toast in the cafe is quite good. Much better than the sourdough pancakes, which are really dense. Free refills on coffee. read more

Great and convenient location, no complaints on that end. But would definitely not recommend this place to stay. We spent a night in the cabin.. to begin when we arrived it was very apparent that the cabins do not get cleaned. There was debris and hair on the beds, the carpet appeared it hasn't been vacuumed in years and just the overall smell and appearance of things it is clear they put no effort into their property and just know people will stay here due to the impeccable location. We put blankets over the beds under our sleeping bags and made the best of it. I'm grateful the fan and AC unit worked but again would have stayed in a tent over the cabin. Secondly, during the midst of COVID it was disappointing to not see one person in a mask or the facilities themselves not cleaned or sanitized. During our stay, a person cleaned dog poop off of her shoe in the sink of the women's restroom which remained there for the entirety of the day. Another aspect was that we purchased fire wood ($7) and there was an odd film over the wood.. non of the wood started on fire after multiple attempts (this is coming from someone who knows how to start a fire lol). I only saw one campsite with a fire which appeared to be a struggle. In the morning I attempted to talk to the staff and give them all of the fire wood we were unable to use, they were rude. We heard from others that the motel were in rough condition and have had no care or updates since sometime in the 1980s. read more

My husband, son and I stayed one night in June, 2016. We arrived at Badlands National Park during a two-week road trip, and I did not have lodgings arranged for the evening. After driving from Wall, SD to Badlands NP, I did not want to make the 40-minute drive back to Wall for the evening, so we made the decision to settle for anything we could find within minutes of the Park. That is the biggest selling point of this hotel is its close proximity to the Park. Dawn was very helpful and got us into a double for less than $100 (I think before tax). These are very simple accommodations, wall-unit air conditioning, no television and no wireless (at least none that I could access). The owners were very nice and helpful and the room was visually clean, but it reeked of smoke and mustiness. I should have asked if there were non-smoking rooms available, but it was my fault I left making plans until the last minute. Overall it was a clean room, nice hosts and super location for early access to the Badlands. We were on the trails by 6 am the next morning, so it was well worth it. read more

Stumbled upon this motel when my phone/GPS lost signal in the middle of nowhere and I needed to stop for the night, and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely owners & dog :) Motel & grounds are very clean, and the beds are comfortable. I probably won't be in SD again, but if I find myself back in town, I'd gladly stay here again. I've never been more disrespected when purchasing a place to stay. The small cabin we rented seemed fine but there were bedbugs, which I was not very angry about, but when I called the manager over to address the problem he essentially told me to F off and "take it or leave it". Despite only talking to him once, he said i was being a pain in the a** for addressing bugs in my bunk. Just burn 60$ and save the trouble read more

The campground is tight for being in the middle of nowhere. Sites are gravel/dirt that become very muddy when it rains. Our site had a mud hole 10 inches deep on the electric/water/sewage side. It made parking the camper and getting the utilities hooked up a challenge. We didn't use the bathrooms. Wifi is nonexistent. It is dirt cheap however so if your just looking for a place to pull in for thew night it's worth it. The KOA nearby was better when we stayed there a few years ago. read more

Reserved a "cabin" here, after finding it listed online. I had the impression that it was a quaint little pre-fab thing like those at the KOA campgrounds. However, I was very wrong. The "cabin" was actually a work shed, the inside ply/particle board and included a cheap flimsey interior door as an entree way. The beds were made out of two-by-fours and had old ripped up plastic mattresses. The small "campgrounds" included a year round trailer park and an empty defunct swimming pool. Had I known this place was so horrible, I never would have pulled into the place. It was creepy, dumpy and overall a terrible place to discover along the way. I I strongly recommend avoiding this place at all costs and using a different campground or motel. There is a KOA nearby that is very, very pleasant. read more

This inn was an absolute LIFESAVER for a friend and me last week. We had booked lodging further down the highway, got there, and for various reasons had to leave - it was awful. We were about to sleep in our car when at midnight we saw the OPEN sign for this inn. Obviously at midnight there was no one inside but the owner answered his cell phone after we called him awake, opened the lobby just for us and gave us a room for $65. The room was perfectly clean and it was such a relief, plus there's AC. THANK YOU to the owners of this place for saving us from sleeping in our car!! read more
